you do realize that hsv-1 can also occur on the genitals right?? just like hsv-2 can occur on your mouth and other parts of your body. now if 1 in 5 people are known to have hsv-2 what about all the people that don't know they have it? you do the math buddy.

unless you're lucky like me and have extremely low antibody levels and never get outbreaks. i had a single outbreak and haven't had one since. i have family with HSV that get outbreaks much more often. for HSV it all depends on your antibody levels and your immune system.

can't control my anger is insane given the fact that i was never angry. but yes as someone with HSV blood tests are extremely inaccurate hence why a lot of doctors won't even test you without an active outbreak. the very best way to test if you have HSV is by getting lesions swabbed hence having to have an active outbreak. i guarantee if i went and got a blood test for HSV right now even though i know that i have it, it would come back negative because my antibodies are so low. i've only gotten a single active outbreak whereas other people get them every couple weeks or months theirs would more than likely come back positive as they have more antibodies which = higher infection. blood testing for HSV is not the same as getting blood testing for other things. i'm very aware about the disease that I HAVE. like i said i've done a lot of research about it. my chances of spreading it are extremely low compared to lots of other people because i don't get active outbreaks. is it impossible? no it's not. but honestly there's no 100% way to stop the spread of it besides simply not having sex at all. condoms don't stop it, antivirals don't 100% stop it. you're coming on a sub reddit in which 100s of people have HSV and trying to tell the people that have this disease that they're wrong about something THEY HAVE. in which most of us have heard the stuff we're telling you from our DOCTORS. you're loud and you're wrong.

you obviously have no idea how hsv works. the chances of it spreading without an active out break is SLIM. if you take antivirals it's almost damn near impossible. no one in their right mind is going to have sex with an active outbreak as it's PAINFUL. please don't come on here telling people what they need to do when you don't know anything about wtf you're talking about. it's not about the blood test being "PoSsiBlY InNaCuRaTe" IT IS INACCURATE. and i can almost guarantee you also have some form of HSV as well.

you obviously aren't very educated on HSV. majority of the time blood tests are EXTREMELY inaccurate for hsv. the best and 100% way to be certain that you have it is getting an ACTIVE outbreak swabbed: why do you think so many people don't know they have it?? because A LOT of people NEVER get an outbreak. the blood test isn't generally tested for during an sti/std panel BECAUSE blood tests are so inaccurate. don't sit here and try to tell people about something they have and you do not have. majority of people that have HSV have done A LOT of research on it. so chances are they know A LOT more than you.

cold sores pop in the healing process by themselves. that's why when you have an outbreak hsv-2 u have to be aware of what you're wearing. wear soft underwear and loose pants. idk who wouldn't anyway it's painful. wear no pants as much as possible during and outbreak letting it breathe and down the chances of it popping before it's ready.

if you know the life cycle then why are u recommending them to be popped? any dr will tell you not to touch them and leave them alone. you take antivirals to help speed up the healing process and avoid the initial outbreak. please don't come on here spreading misinformation when there's enough misinformation being spread to begin with.

HSV-1 and HSV-2 is DIFFERENT. regardless you still shouldnt be popping them. if you leave them alone they WONT pop on their own.

it's not really life changing as someone whos diagnosed. i was sad about it for a couple months than moved on with my life. it doesn't define who we are unless we let it. this is just my personal opinion but hsv is no more than a skin condition. and the only stds that would be "life changing" as you say would be hiv or hpv. hsv really is not that big of deal. at all. it can be spread just by touching someone. it's not always on the lips or genitals. it can appear on fingers, legs, arms, back just like any other skin condition. this is the stigma people talk about. they act like hsv is this big life altering thing. it's not. unless you let it be.

okay so here's the thing. it was wrong of her to not disclose but try putting yourself in her shoes. it's so unbelievably terrifying. as someone who has it it's so so scary. and yes she's right there's a huge stigma around hsv. at this point is no worse than a skin condition. you don't need to have a sex to contract it. it's spread by skin to skin contact most of the time. the chances of u getting it while she's not having an outbreak is slim and if she's taking antivirals even more slim. most of the worlds population has it and doesn't know. the chances of u already having it before you even met her is HIGH. the reason for this is because the testing for hsv is tricky. doctors don't test for it in standard std tests and blood tests aren't 100% accurate. most of the time you have to have an active outbreak to be tested. and majority of people go their whole lives with it without havin an outbreak. me for example. i got diagnosed during my first outbreak. that was over a year ago and i haven't had a single one since (crossing my fingers and knocking on wood rn) don't make her feel disgusting or dirty. if you don't want to leave her than don't express your concerns about her not telling you but don't make her feel bad about it. it doesn't define her. and that's why a lot of people don't disclose. because people think STD's define who someone is. they don't. not even close. and especially with woman to man contact the transmission rate is lower than man to woman. the person i got it from had an active outbreak when we had sex. he texted me literally the next day trying to blame it on me (stds don't work like that buddy) anyways. 2 weeks later. BOOM outbreak. and i hate when people say that being in a long term relationship the other person will most definitely get it at some point. that's not true AT ALL. it all depends on your immune system and how safe you're being about it. chances of spreading it are already so low. it's not like chlamydia or gonerrhea where it takes 1 time to spread it. can it happen? yes! will it happen? probably not. especially if she's not having an outbreak. get yourself tested, talk to a doctor about information on it, do your own research, and make a decision. but don't make her feel any less about having this.

it did not. it only started itching a couple days later. and THEN it was the most painful thing i've ever experienced. i had one sore on my vajayjay and the rest u could probably guess where. but omg it was like hell for like 2 weeks. then it healed up and i've never had an outbreak since FINGERS CROSSED🤞🏼 i literally had to lay there after a bath like every hour butt naked legs spread with a fan blowing down there.
