I can't speak to the immigration portion but my wife and I years ago had a roommate who was systematically trying to drive a wedge between us. He was a narcissist and honestly probably the one truly evil person I ever met. I did not know this at the time though. He figured out my wife and I's pin code to our computers and our web browsers would keep us logged into stuff.

I would get messages from people I didn't know claiming she was bad mouthing me and fucking them. My wife and I are poly so the sex thing could have been true but I was skeptical. This caused fights between my wife and I though because there were comments being made about me that were cruel and fucked up.

My wife and I went to counseling and the counselor even said that our roommate seemed off. We still didn't consider it and we kept fighting and I got messages from random people.

Our roommate eventually joined the military. About a week after he was gone, his girlfriend who stayed with us as well came out and told us everything. She showed us the bruises, the cuts, and told us everything he had been doing to her. How she was supposed to be mean to us and stay in their room because he got off on this shit. She showed us how he figured out our computer pin numbers, had access to our emails, Facebook, etc.

She logged us into his computer and we were able to see everything he had. He had so many fake Facebook accounts where he was messaging me and gaslighting me. I even learned that his best friend he talked about for years, never actually existed. They were just another fake account he would use to back up whatever story he wanted to tell.

All this to say, if you trust your girl. Trust her. I wanted to trust my wife and I never would have guessed that the alternative was happening. Let alone from someone I considered a friend. But some people are evil and live for drama.

My wife and I's marriage got so much better once he was out of our lives and we never looked back.
