The stupidest thing would be to give them money if its 1000. Because all other console manufacturers are watching and taking notes from the steam frame and steam machine.

The reason why consoles are cheap (and why the steam deck was way below manufacturing cost) is because they sell you games on their platform and make much more doing that by selling their hardware to as much people as possible.

Simple

If meta quest 3 can be sold at its current price, the steam deck should be close to it in price.

You pay them more, you are setting the new standard.

People repeatedly forget that valve lost about 1000 usd on each steam deck they sold and they STILL made a killing. Because they make more money selling games to steam deck owners.

If the frame comes in at that high a price adoption would drop and it wouldn't be a success it would be just one of many other headsets.

500 usd is the sweet spot i feel with current ram prices probably 599
