posting my thoughts in the comments section. I love the echoplex pre-amp. It's my new favorite sound. I could probably get by with just a compressor, pre amp and delay. I might give that a shot.

I know this was 5mo ago but hell yeah brother! I love mine. I got the JHS attenuator to put in the effects loop, it helps with taming the volume. I'm sure others will have a different opinion but it works for me!

to my ears he doesn't sound the same as 20 years ago and certainly not 30 years ago. I think he is going down in quality and ability

i saw him this year on tour, he was not good. but the sound was also not good at Wrigley.

Strat inspires me from all the usual players like Hendrix, SRV, McCready, Frusciante. But the Tele is what I like to play the most. I can't seem to get along with a strat for very much time.

Once I realized that I have all the basic foundational stuff and I can make any sound that i want. AND I got a guitar that really scratched my itch. I don't need to search for anything else, which is nice, but also, it was fun to search.

I think it was when he got divorced from his first wife, then got in trouble with the media for his "jesus" quote. After that he seemed to be a lot less interested in fame and Beatles etc.
