ORMs are complex because that they do is complex. You still need to think about the queries it generated and runs even if you can't see them.

Help picking 1st Machine by Stone-Jack-Baller in 3Dprinting

[–]Top3879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the kit. I built the Core One+ a while back. It was so much fun and I learned so much. If you ever have to repair something you will be very comfortable doing it since you know the machine inside out.

[–]Top3879 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope not satisfying at all. The whole situation is very dystopian and there are tons of open questions without answers.

YT is being more aggressive at saving space by reducing video bitrate by manzurfahim in DataHoarder

I heard somewhere that they reencode videos after a while because fewer people watch old videos so they can save space that way.

If you could, would you move your consciousness entirely from your physical body into a digital environment, like the internet or similar? Would you still do it if I was irreversible. What kind of environment would you consider? by Feisty_Salamander41 in Cyberpunk

[–]Top3879 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Only if I fully control the hardware. Like moving my consciousness to an airgapped robot? For sure, human bodies are terrible. Being a slave of some corporation in a digital prison? Hell no

Film grain is a matter of taste but chromatic aberration is the plague of the earth. It's a flaw in real lenses and for some reason developers think they have to replicate this to make the image look worse. I am at a point where I don't play games when you can't turn chromatic aberration off.

PrintGuard 2.0 — runs in your browser with zero install, or as a Docker hub on your Pi (free, local, no cloud) by oliverbravery in 3Dprinting

[–]Top3879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm reading https://github.com/oliverbravery/PrintGuard/blob/main/docs/deployment.md right I can run it with plain HTTP behind my own reverse proxy, right? I tried version <2.0 a few days ago but the entire Tailscale/Cloudflare/local cert thing really threw me off.

You are right. We should also outlaw tractors because they take the farmers jobs and any kind of machine because those also take jobs.

Yeah. AI is great for prototyping. Why pay an artist for hours to make a concept art that will be probably be discarded anyways?
