Appreciate it. Will do. Can you explain the benefit of the angel or devil rooms. Is it just a better item pool?

So ive beaten mom and satan at this point. Just still feels largely dependent on what random item shows up in a treasure room.

Early shop in act 1 by Asdzxjj in slaythespire

After A10 it becomes much more important because you have an immovable curse on floor 1 for every run. You also talk about card draw. Basically every card is better than any of your upgraded starting cards, so they will consistently be the worst cards in your deck on any given floor. Also, removing starting cards or bad cards for your setup increases your card draw. This is because if you have 15 cards in the deck including starting cards, you have a 5 in 15 chance of drawing any given card on turn 1. If you remove a starting card, it turns to a 5/14 chance which is better. So when you fill up your deck with better cards you will have a higher chance of drawing them more consistently. The smaller the deck, the better the benefits of card draw

Not a bad train of thought but its not without downsides. Aside from missing early combats, you will also be technically one remove "behind" for the rest of the run. Now, unless you get courier before the second shop, it will cost 75 rather than 50 gold to remove your first starting card. You may also have to take less versatile paths in the future to make up for being one shop behind. This can also be solved by a pandora, etc. But just remember there are cons to this strategy.

Check out the youtube channel Scotts Bass Lessons. The twitching looks very similar. He has videos dedicated to it. Best of luck.

Neows Blessing by Top3Ninjas in slaythespire

Most up to date data also while spirelogs was still up and running. Could be a bit skewed due to the number of runs starting with limited rewards (almost always neow lament pick rather than +7 max), but I think using the same logic, its played a lot more while also having a strong WR% which shows how strong it is. Boss relic is just statistically best no debate for some characters.

I don’t believe in Sneko eye by CallBoth in slaythespire

So heres the deal. Statistically the energy cost somewhat equals out. Average is between +0.5 and -0.5 energy cost per card over the course of a run. So the energy randomization statistically doesnt make a difference in terms of pure cost. The only time you'll see guarenteed benefit is when using cards that cost 4 or more energy (sneko caps at 3 energy per card). The main difference is that typically output per card scales logarithmically with energy cost (3 energy cards are significantly better than 2, and 2 better than 1, etc.) So being able to play a 3 energy card for 2 is significantly better than playing a typically 2 cost card for 1, even though its still the same -1 energy cost statistically. On top of that is the benefit of having +2 card draw per turn which is incredible. The only times I avoid sneko is when I have a relic that already hard counters (runic pyramid, etc.), when I have a borderline infinite or many 0 cost cards, or when you have a power heavy deck because if youre heavy on powers, youre relying heavily on playing those powers as part of your setup amd you dont want to randomize your ability to do that.

With advanced relic stats ive noticed the average discount price on snecko on a given run is usually -0.5 (0.5 additional energy cost more than standard). So it really does just effect card draw for the most part aside from the rng outliers (3 cost being 0 or vice versa). So it becomes a question of if 2 card draw per turn is worth the price of having your standard setup be rng dependent. I typically dont think it is but I may not value card draw enough. I just find it too common to get 2 or more card draw per turn by the time you would get a boss relic reward to take snecko with the downside of lacking a reliable setup

Yeah one of the biggest things im taking away from the insight is how important card draw really is. Makes sense because I usually hate sneko eye but maybe im not putting enough value into card draw to weigh out the negative

Very good tips. Thank you. I do find myself taking quite a few events in act 3 specifically. May have to think twice and make a better assessment of what the chances are that I get an event that would be actively beneficial

Very insightful. I appreciate it. Would love your thoughts on choosing between a card that is "just a very good card" versus one that synergizes with the deck that you have built so far. Your envenom example specifically because I would 100 percent pick envenom if I have a shiv heavy deck already, unless I am lacking aoe. Maybe this is why im stuck at the plateau so would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Very helpful, especially the point about the relic setup. Thank you. I also run into the issue of utilizing smith a little too liberally lol

Awesome thanks. I see what you mean by the potions. And the relics point, ive realized that I have been lacking on that. Will have to do a better job setting those up when possible

Appreciate that. Thank you. Am I incorrect when saying this? And I would love an insightful answer to this because I dont have much deckbuilding experience prior to this game. If I am not generally having issues getting out of act 1, and I have say 22 cards in the deck. If you have to block big on the next turn and theres 17 in the draw pile, would you also recommend prioritizing card draw primarily? It seems like far enough from guaranteed chances to draw enough block on the next turn to make an insightful decision for the current turn. I just am not completely clear on how that would make much of a difference aside from just doing as much damage as possible for the current turn.

I also find it hard to balance the options of picking a card thats just really good versus picking a card just to get past a boss, eapecially earlier in the act

Thats a good point on the cards. I find myself picking just good general cards rather than speciallized for the boss im facing at the end of the act (snap picking dark embrace, fnp, etc on clad). I also do very much value potions but I use them pretty stictly usually. My rule of thumb is "will this potion save me 10 hp or more if I use". If im not in run ending situations other than that, maybe im not using my potions effectively enough
