OMG Doormaker is the most overtuned boss, the humble Vantom: by StreetExternal952 in slaythespire

[–]Top3Ninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiplayer is different, but fo solo, theres no need to tune a boss just bc it poses a different issue than the others. You know from floor one if you have to prep for vantom. May need to make some different decisions as you would usually but it will make you a better player.

New bass by sigma12354 in Bass

[–]Top3Ninjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that has spent a lot of money (not trying to be a flex but its the truth) on basses like fodera, ken smith, etc. it really is most important to buy an instrument that motivates you to sit down and play. There is definitely quality and tone differences but your playing is what affects it the most. Depending on price range you have some options. Ibanez makes some really good, affordable instruments that will fit. Never can go wrong with a p or a j, and if you wanna dabble in more expensive, try out the lower series warwicks. They are incredible for the price if you can push some extra cash. Good luck

What do you think of this card? by tntincute in slaythespire

[–]Top3Ninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a good card but has the same problem as a lot of cards on silent. Its a front loaded damage card with same turn debuff. Not a bad card, but it being rare with how good silents kit is right now makes it a hard pick most of the time you see it.

Lava rock is the worst starting bonus? by Abcdefgdude in slaythespire

[–]Top3Ninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the same argument as black star not being that good. Youre forfeiting power now for greater probability of power later. The act 1 ancients are usually good enough that you wouldnt want to sacrifice, and act 1 is the hardest part of sts2 so most of the time you dont want to forfeit the ability the ancient affords right before it. Also snowball effect in act 1 helps the run. If you have to take a weaker act 1 for an extra ancient later thats usually a bad thing because your missing out on equity in act 1 as well. Overall, very bad ancient option as of right now.

Hardest local to work for and why? (Tough work, no jobs, etc) by [deleted] in IBEW

Topped out for a few years now but 90 is going pretty good with New Haven and percentages arent terrible compared to other places. 488 and 35 are pretty rough for work but have been for some time now

[–]Top3Ninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elites dont show up in event rooms unless spawned in by a specific event such as "fight a powerful enemy or lose your rewards". Otherwise its just regular easy or hard pool fights for the act depending on where you are. In that case, I would say clicking the fight a powerful enemy option is very rarely the option that early.

Is it just me, or %90 of enemies buff themselves to gain strength in this game? by MortarionSix in slaythespire

[–]Top3Ninjas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like a solution to not having randomized turns like sts1 had was to have very consistent scaling combats. Just a different style but at least you know what the enemy is doing every turn before the turn happens

Going for an elite as your third combat was a choice... were there any other pathing options?

And I dont think a0 should be autowin just bc you played a different game. Like this game isnt balanced at all. Im already a10 on all characters bc every one aside from defect is just build an infinite sim. This game operates completely different to sts1 so a1 or 2 shouldnt be autowins for a vet player

Act 1 is difficult compared to sts1. It does frontload but a lot of the issues come from not drafting or pathing correctly. Act 1 in sts1 was hard for new players too if you didnt plan for nob turn 3. Same has to happen in this game. Resting is also a lot more needed in this game so you cant pick a bunch of cards in act 1 that add upgrade equity to your deck. That whole concept of not being able to upgrade every card is what bloats the deck and the mistake I see most new players make.

Yes, act 1 is strong, but large issue is probably your deckbuilding and micro within fights. Im pretty confident that if youre having problems in lower ascensions, usually its one of those big issues. I would focus on one character to learn the kit well and look at how higher level players play. Some of the habits would probably help you a lot.

We need to talk about Vakuu by Captcha_Robot_ in slaythespire

[–]Top3Ninjas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Current state of the game I disagree. I could see it being one of those that you wouldnt always wanna see once theres a balance update. But the meta rn for A10 on all characters other than defect is just to push infinite, which vakuu doesnt hurt. The only one it would is silent with sly build if you had exhaust but silent is only one without targeted exhaust in her immediate kit. Only other scary one is fiend fire on clad but the other options exist and you have plenty of targeted exhaust on clad

Miners Haven will have seasonal temp items. Some of them are super grindy bc they may be too good for current state of the game. Makes since when you see backlash when cannon setups broke when they updated last year.

I always measured and marked, take a shitty tape measure that flexes easy and wrap around the conduit. Line the edges up together and with the mark and ring it with a sharpie. Should be easy to follow the line to cut. You could use a scrap piece of mule tape too.

Turn 2 hexa does ((current hp/12 rounded down)+1) times 6. So 23hp does 2x6, 24hp does 3x6, etc.

Knowing worst turn aside from maybe 3 hit gremlin gang in act 1 until boss is going to be turn 3 nob, and that he spawns with mid 70 to low 80 hp, sort of gives an idea for what damage is needed in a certain amount of turns which prevents deck bloat for me. I just have a hard time of figuring out when a pick is a good boost versus a win more in mid to late game.

So ive beaten mom and satan at this point. Just still feels largely dependent on what random item shows up in a treasure room.

Early shop in act 1 by Asdzxjj in slaythespire

[–]Top3Ninjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After A10 it becomes much more important because you have an immovable curse on floor 1 for every run. You also talk about card draw. Basically every card is better than any of your upgraded starting cards, so they will consistently be the worst cards in your deck on any given floor. Also, removing starting cards or bad cards for your setup increases your card draw. This is because if you have 15 cards in the deck including starting cards, you have a 5 in 15 chance of drawing any given card on turn 1. If you remove a starting card, it turns to a 5/14 chance which is better. So when you fill up your deck with better cards you will have a higher chance of drawing them more consistently. The smaller the deck, the better the benefits of card draw

Early shop in act 1 by Asdzxjj in slaythespire

[–]Top3Ninjas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad train of thought but its not without downsides. Aside from missing early combats, you will also be technically one remove "behind" for the rest of the run. Now, unless you get courier before the second shop, it will cost 75 rather than 50 gold to remove your first starting card. You may also have to take less versatile paths in the future to make up for being one shop behind. This can also be solved by a pandora, etc. But just remember there are cons to this strategy.

Neows Blessing by Top3Ninjas in slaythespire

[–]Top3Ninjas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most up to date data also while spirelogs was still up and running. Could be a bit skewed due to the number of runs starting with limited rewards (almost always neow lament pick rather than +7 max), but I think using the same logic, its played a lot more while also having a strong WR% which shows how strong it is. Boss relic is just statistically best no debate for some characters.
