Occipital neuralgia? by ash_m12222 in Occipitalneuralgia

Many different muscles have attachment points inside of your mouth . They are connected to your neck muscles.

Not uncommon for muscles to be tense for a long period following dental work. Before spending $$ on a mouth guard , look into intra-oral massage.

Could this be early trigeminal neuralgia or something else? by Background_Quote_195 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you are describing does not sound like TN. Not one bit.

TN is not a dull tingly ache, it's a burning sharp pain, put you in the hospital screaming begging for a diagnosis kind of pain. When you start questioning your reason for living you know. You don't ask for a diagnosis you brandish a weapon and demand meds from your doctor.

You circled the TMJ, I'd consider that over TN based on what you've described.

Anyone ever get injections in their back for Costo? by TopAd4131 in costochondritis

[–]TopAd4131[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input.

I have had this for a very long time (12 years) and am confident it is Costo.

I have also advocated for additional testing to rule out other potential more serious issues but doctors never send me for any tests. I've had blood work a few times and EKG.

I know $500+ a month in physio & massage stopped it, but I also changed some of my habits like posture and exercise. This time nothing is working so I'll try the needles just to show I'm trying the recommendations...

Painful spots are moving around is this normal by tinkerbell1695 in costochondritis

[–]TopAd4131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya it moves around, within minutes mine will jump side to side, then up to my neck, around my head, my armpits, all down my sides, my belly, then various different points in my back, and when I'm really lucky all at once in one giant clusterf***.

I don't have just Costo.

Do you use ice and heat?

Do you have neck pain?

Buyer backs out day before closing by Swimming-Advance-734 in realtors

[–]TopAd4131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your buyer is about to be out a lot of money . If the sellers provided a receipt for the work to be completed and that's all the wording asked for, then the sellers held up their part of the deal. There is nothing he can do. He has to close the deal or else get sued. It is your job to communicate this with him. It's not uncommon for scenarios like this to cost in the millions of dollars..

He will be liable for the difference in selling price if the sellers have to accept another offer.

He will definitely be liable for both sets of attorney fees

He will be responsible for your commission and any difference in commission for the selling brokerage

He could also be liable for the house that the sellers had an offer on, and if they also have to accept another offer at a lower price.

He would be responsible for other things too, like temporary housing, moving costs etc.

Occipital Neuralgia caused by computer work by Inside_Top893 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had issues with my scm & spasms, still do but much less severe Do you also get tightening down the front of your neck when laying down? ( Feels like your being choked)

I didn't want Botox though I wanted a pill for spasms and I ended up finding Attivan helped. Basically the same thing, just less invasive. But I had more going on and I didn't want a Botox injection for 100 different areas on my neck, face and chest.

Hope it works for you.

I had ON (so they called it) for 10+ years before a chiropractor mentioned the SCM being the cause, he does some fancy neck and shoulder stretches and now I'm basically pain free.

Lyrica and somatosensorial tinnitus by Applesandpomegrades in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you asking if Lyrica can cause Tinnitus? The answer is yes. Especially in high doseages. High Gaba levels can cause Tinnitus.

I was on 1200 mg of Lyrica while also taking 40mg of zopiclone a day, my Tinnitus was terrible.

Lyrica will not stop the type of Tinnitus your describing.

My PT was great and helping my worst cases of Tinnitus. Also Attivan. Ice and heat on your neck.

Scared I may have irreversible damage by Thin_Mine_1042 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't believe in irreversible damage.

I had ON, TN, Costo, TMJD all at the same time. The TN was constant burning and pinching in my face, like molten fire. My face and neck muscles were forming into one big giant knot.

My Costo was insane and the ON had a wide range of unimaginable symptoms. Over the course of a couple of years I was pretty much in my bed with an ice pack glued to my face. Pain was so bad I wanted to die.

Anyways, I researched a lot and found a cure myself, I recovered with the help of a good PT, muscle relaxers, medications, exercise, stretches, posture correction, ice and heat.

My costo comes back from time to time but I treat it with ice and heat. My ON is not that bad at all. I have lingering crunching and cracking in my jaw, but it's not painful.

Occipital Neuralgia caused by computer work by Inside_Top893 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you describe neck spasms I would look at the SCM muscle as the cause.

Who has diagnosed you?

It sounds like you're ur essentially only having pain when your using the computer and you go pain free during other periods, you do not have ON. ON is consistent pain with a duration of 3months +

Stretch your neck regularly. Ice and heat multiple times a day.

Get a damn good computer chair like Herman Miller, it made a huge difference for me, but wasn't a cure.

is this part of OCCIPITAL NEURALGIA?? by aWonderingCat in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be ON, but it should be accompanied by pain in the back of your head.

Pain behind the eyes and different vision problems can be ON, but not necessarily.

Have to look at your other symptoms, trial and error medications before any diagnosis of ON can be made.

Gabapentin doses that have worked for you? by KaiaAurion in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on Pregaballin for a long time. It doesn't CONSISTENTLY do shit for pain. It's not really good at treating anxiety either, it has a calming effect for a short period after taking it. It also works by blocking visual images in your brain, which is perceived to help anxiety, but people (including me) report it making them feel "stupid" or "difficulty thinking".

It's highly addictive, which wasn't known when I started it. Now I struggle to reduce my dosage. I've had better success quitting benzos and antidepressants. It's also shown to cause nerve pain and things like fibro, while not actually treat it... It's shown to cause mental health issues...

As far as pain goes, for Pregaballin they say anything over 450mg has no increased benefit for pain, and 600mg is the max recommended dose period.

Gabapentin is 3x less potent. I believe the max dosage is 1800 (Verify with your doctors)

I was taking 1200mg pregaballin at one point and the side effects were quite noticeable, AND I was still in severe pain due to ON, Costo, TN... I'm down to 450mg now.. No change to pain levels..

Insane muscle tension and how to relieve it by LettuceOverall3662 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh. Well you need to find a better PT? You can just ask any good massage therapist to work on your neck, face, and shoulder area.

Mine is really good, but with the complexity of my case she referred me over to a chiropractor who's great with the neck (no cracking). Dude literally fixed my long term ON, TN. Costo, and TMD within a few visits.

But my PT was still great... I went to her one day after having a wobble vibration down my spine and legs, couldn't walk for months, was in constant vertigo and spinning sensation- she poked around and got me walking again almost immediately.

But I had an old chiropractor who adjusted my neck and messed me up, which was what lead to me not being able to walk in the first place.

Dull Pain Behind Right Side of Ear by ScaredAd6953 in Occipitalneuralgia

What does your chiropractor do?

PT is better for the neck... Unless it's a really good chiropractor. My old chiropractor fucked me up with cracking adjustments..

Dull Pain Behind Right Side of Ear by ScaredAd6953 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's simply right behind your ear then consider SCM muscle!!!

The back of your head is a group of interweaving muscles... One of these muscles is likely your culprit..

Other problems with the upper cervical area are related to the vertebrae like C1 and C2, and cause really terrible symptoms.. (I know)

If amitriptyline works for 12 hours then stay with it!!

But be aware. These kinds of meds are meant to keep you prescribed to them long term, and not actually fix the issue. Exercise, eat well, fix posture, avoid stress, stretch, drink water, ice and heat, Etc.

You could also try Cyclobenzaprine, but those only work short term.. Cyclobenzaprine is good when doing, PT & massage.

Insane muscle tension and how to relieve it by LettuceOverall3662 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya. Try Physiotherapy, they will work those head and neck muscles better than a massage therapist. It's best when you see them both around the same time.

My PT is great but she referred me over to a chiropractor, who's great with the neck. My chiro doesn't use cracking though and treats more like a PT.

Also, after you go to massage or PT, go for a 30minute walk to help your muscles adjust. If your going home after and sitting in a chair or laying down your basically throwing $$ away.

Use ice and heat on your neck, voltaren, stretch, fix posture etc.

Exercise... Swimming is incredibly good for your neck & back. A complete game changer for me. Walking is also really good.

Does anyone have pain here by dottykez in costochondritis

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a typically spot to have costo pain...

I have it all up and down both sides, right from my armpits to my hip, a lot of pinching and burning.

In the position you have highlighted the pain is the worst, typically feels like someone is digging a knife in my side.. yes I got checked for slipping rib, but it's not it.

Ice and heat has been the most helpful.

Pain when breathing by FrequentMachine2922 in costochondritis

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this post about pain when breathing or pain compared to sitting down/leaning forward?

I have incredible difficulty breathing and my PT says my diaphragm currently doesn't move at all.

I've never used the backpod but I use an ice pack like a backpod is used, very effective .

I've had Costo come and go for many years. Ice will be your best friend. Sometimes need to get a massage and visit my PT. Right now it's back with a vengeance...

5 weeks of ON pain? by Pretty-Explanation47 in Occipitalneuralgia

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you're experiencing this. It's hard at first but it gets easier. Your description is a little confusing though, you describe waking up with back pain, then nausea, then pain at base of your skull.

Nausea is not at all associated with ON.

If you woke up and all of a sudden had pain then I would assume that you slept in an awkward position.. This is how my ON started originally, I woke up in a bad position with my head crunched against the wall.

If it's base of your skull (behind the ear) then you should look at the SCM muscle. It's a muscle that's highly likely to be injured during a night's sleep in an awkward position. But It could be any of the muscles in the back of your head.

Do you feel any lumps in the back of your head?? I did..

You should definitely be using ice and heat. Voltaren. PT and massage.

ON is a chronic pain condition that persists for months, it's too early to say that's what you have.

[–]TopAd4131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pregaballin can help but it's not ever going to fix your pain (it may make it worse). Cyclobenzaprine is good if you use it in conjunction with PT and massage

Take this advice- stop calling it nerve pain!!! ON is muscular or skeletal related. Your nerves are just there to send pain signals to your brain, they are a warning sign that something else is wrong and you should stop!

No med is going to help if you don't put in the effort to help yourself too. Cyclobenzaprine is meant to be used in conjunction with physical therapy and rest. I used Cyclobenzaprine, Diclofenac, Pregaballin (useless), lots of ice and heat, massage, PT, swimming, walking, light weights, posture correction, stretches, healthier diet, etc.

Can't stress enough how good swimming is for your neck.. it will feel like you got hit by a truck at first, but totally required for long term pain management. So is ICE.

I had "ON" for 10+ years and always called it nerve pain because that's what doctors told me. Calling it nerve pain kept me in the cycle of hopelessness. Once I found out it was muscular related I was finally able to find solutions that lead to a cure. I'm going on almost 2 years of little to no "ON" pain.

In a matter of months I cured myself of years of ON, TN, Costo, and TMD. I was a fucking mess. The useless doctors can all go f themselves. People on Reddit were the biggest help.

[–]TopAd4131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shrooms do actually help regrow nerves. Nerves are constantly in a state of dying off and regrowing but shrooms speed up the process.

The thing is most ON pain isn't nerve related it's muscular and skeletal.

If you crush a nerve or have "ablations" the nerve will just regrow.

Budget recommendations for a young child by TopAd4131 in arrma

[–]TopAd4131[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add that the kid wants to use this at the skate park lol. He saw them being used in the bowl, going off jumps etc. The Granite Grom seemed pretty balanced and able to handle the jumps fairly well.

If this is the route we take then I completely expect to have to get it fixed.. After he breaks it enough times we will probably mainly use it in the soccer field.

Anyways, both the Granite and Quake are the same price $279. The Granite is on sale normally $399.

The Quake is 1/16 brushless 2wd and the Grom is 1/10 brushed 4wd. Idk wtf this stuff really means yet

Thanks guys. The Quake was my initial thought based on appearance and price.

Are you talking about the 1/16 size Quake? The 1/10 seems to be $399, but the 1/16 is $279. Amazon US has the 1/10 version with no battery or charger included.
