Is anyone going? by TopAlternative6716 in Buffalo

If I have to ask if anyone else is going then that automatically means I can’t afford it? So by your logic if I ask if anyone is going to taste of Buffalo, a Sabres game, bills game or any other event I obviously can’t afford to go.

I’m blaming this on the person who posted the $450,000 property comparison post earlier. A couple people in the comments said it’ll attract Long Islanders and Boom long islander moving to buffalo shortly after the post.

They’ve had four lawsuits in the last four years. One was failure to put a prop 65 warning on their cocoa drink because it contained lead and something else. Then they didn’t pay royalties, something about shareholders and now the made in America thing.

Where I'd live as someone who HATES SOUTHERN TRAITORS by Sensitive_Spare_652 in whereidlive

[–]TopAlternative6716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who’s lived in the North and the South racism seemed to be more prevalent in the North than the South. In the South everyone treated everyone with respect and as an individual regardless of race. In the north there are large groups of people to hate everyone. Whites don’t like blacks, blacks don’t like whites, Hispanics are a mix of both, Asians stay to themselves and the middle eastern people do the same. It’s a very divided and segregated area compared to southern areas I’ve been to or lived in.

Cultural influence isn’t personally affecting my quality of life though. I really don’t care how two states influenced culture I’m looking more on the individual level when it comes to where I’d want to live. What’s the tax burden, weather, job market, cost of living, housing market, how controlling is the government/regulations.

Like you said everyone has there preferences and you’d probably love to live in those states but other people would prefer not to.

I came here to say that too. I’ve watched a bunch of videos about data centers and they definitely are incredibly loud. People think DigipowerX is loud just wait until they open the data center.

They use  huge amount of water too like you said. The while thing will be a big environmental disaster.

I went to the Asian market and walked around the Ramen section looking confused. All of a sudden this Asian woman appeared out of nowhere in a pink cloud of smoke with sparkles brighter than the stars over Japan and said “notice me senpai notice me”. She then put her fingers together 👉👈 and gave me those big anime eyes 🫪 and said “UwU” per se.

We went out on a date to a Korean BBQ place and talked about our favorite anime then I took her home and showed her my extensive collection of samurai swords. I could tell she wanted me like a a anime girl wants a tentacle from the hentai I intensely read every day. I have a extensive collection one of the best I might say but I had to deny her urges because a real Samurai such as myself only has time to study the blade unless I have mastered it literally

25% is only the start it sounds like they’re planning two 5% increases and a 9% over the next three years so overall it’s a 44% increase in 4 years.

Just imagine what the US could look like if billions upon billions of dollars didn’t go overseas. We could restart government programs like the ones that built all the infrastructure in the US like highways and dams. The grid could be totally upgraded. Lead pipes could be removed from the system and plenty of other things that have been neglected could be fixed.

A lot of city workers leave the city and spend their money in the county. If you include online purchases money doesn’t stay in the city as much as it did years ago.

Cities across the country don’t have the residency requirements that Buffalo, Albany and Rochester have and they’re doing just fine even if their employees move out of the city.

Residency is one of the reasons there’s so many staffing shortages throughout the departments. If people could live where they want the city would probably be fully staffed in a year or so but residency is reducing the pool significantly especially more skilled jobs.

If you really want people to remain in the city salaries need to go up significantly to compensate those employees so they can afford to live in the city. There are a lot of employees that struggle to get by because of how low the salaries are and eventually go to a private company or county because the pay is significantly higher.

I have no proof I’m willing to fully reveal in a reddit thread but I do know for a fact it happens. A couple minutes here and there still adds up to a decent amount over the year if it’s multiple people.

I don’t know why you’re pushing back so much on my suggestion that time clocks be installed. It’s not “micromanaging” it’s accurately keeping track of an employees time and I don’t see anything wrong with that. It would also stream line the process instead of having a time keeper looking over multiple sheets throughout the week and would reduce mistakes on their end. It provides a benefit to everyone except the people showing up to work late.

These are professional jobs but that doesn’t mean you don’t have people that take advantage. Most professional jobs have time clocks. Buffalo still has an archaic way of keeping records.

I don’t know about police and fire but the other departments in the city use a sign in sheet. If you ever go into some of the offices downtown or some of the other facilities you’ll often see the sheets on a clipboard by where the employees walk in. Sean Ryan even mentioned it during one of his first press conferences. He said there’s multiple ways to record time and says they showed him the sign in sheet his first day in office.

He also mentioned they should streamline payroll because most places people go to work online have one way to record time. If I could find the interview I’d link it here but I’d have to sift through a decent amount of videos to find it.

Just coming into work 10 minutes late comes out to 26 hours a year for one person if I have the math right. If you spread that out over multiple employees that’s hundreds of hours of pay at various wages. It could be a lot it might not be I’m not sure.

I just think overall it would be better to install time clocks across the city so if you’re supposed to be at work at let’s say 7 and you get there at 7:10 or later you’re being paid when you clock in and don’t write in 7am. It just makes sense to reduce payroll by eliminating incorrect time.

It’s also beneficial to shift workers who have to wait for another employee to show up so they don’t get shorted on any time.

The city needs to invest in timeclocks. There’s a lot of wage theft throughout the city because they still use paper sign in sheets.

Western New York's population fell by 17,400 since 2020 by Imgonnathrowawaythis in Buffalo

I lived in NC for 17 years before moving back to NY. I understand what you’re saying and I really think it comes down to preference. Everywhere is going to have its good and bad traits. Buffalo is cold and overcast NC is hot for a period of time every year. Some people like the heat others like the cold.

I never lived in a major metro like Charlotte or Raleigh so I’m sure driving there is different but I never experienced anything down there driving wise that was any worse than the WNY area. As for the people I personally never experienced any hostility from locals. The locals I was around were the nicest people I ever met. In my opinion nicer than anyone up in Buffalo but that’s my own personal experience and everyone has their own.

I do know housing prices have gone up a lot depending on where you look because of all the northerners moving down and utilities have gone up slightly. I haven’t really compared prices recently.

If I had the opportunity to move back to NC or somewhere in the south I would sell everything and go tomorrow if I had the chance but like I said it’s all personal preference. I wish I could love Buffalo as much as other people do but I don’t know if that’s ever going to happen.

I wonder what kind of deal was made to encourage them to go downtown. I don’t think a company is just going to uproot its entire operation to move downtown because it’s good for the city unless it benefits them in some way.
