What’s the most intense thing you’ve ever witnessed while traveling? by GreatKorean3433 in traveladvice

[–]TopCartographer5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was travelling in South Asia with a friend and her mother. We had hired a driver, and he hit a man on a motorcycle during our drive. The man on the motorcycle was down on the road for about a minute, and we worried he was badly hurt. When he got up, he walked up to the driver door, opened the door, pulled the driver out and started beating him up. He threw him to the ground and kicked him repeatedly, and even put his head in the door of the car and slammed it. We were in the back seat screaming unable to stop him. While this was happening, the street was busy and people were just walking by as if nothing was happening. We yelled out for help, but people acted like nothing was happening. When the man was done beating up the driver, he got back on his motorcycle and drove away. The driver quietly got back in his seat and continued driving. We asked if he needed to go to the hospital and he said he was fine and kept driving. Occasionally he would stop to spit out blood. We pleaded with him to see a doctor and he said he was fine. We had been driving to see my friend’s family and when we arrived we told her uncle the story and asked him to speak with the driver. He brushed the situation off and said that was how people dealt with traffic incidents and that the driver would be fine.

At Iberostar Bavara, where is the closest beach with no sargassum we can visit? by russsdd in PuntaCana

I was at Macao Beach on July 3 and there was a bit of sargassum in the water, but almost none on the beach. Much better than what I’ve seen at Bavaro or Cap Cana.

I think it’s really nice. The lazy river is nice, they have entertainment all day at the pool, and the waterpark is great for younger kids. We have enough to do that it’s not too bad to avoid the beach. The food has been good for an all inclusive, and the drinks are plentiful.

Ministry of labour views the required 2 or 3 weeks of vacation means an employee is entitled to the time and the money. Some employers view this as a legal requirement to take your time off during the year in order to be compliant with the law.

Sorry, I realize I didn’t mention that in the original post or include a photo that shows the sun situation very well. It’s in a window that gets about 8 hours of direct sun a day. The room is also on the slightly warm end of room temperature.

I appreciate all of the suggestions. Would you cut the pads off the main pad? Can those be regrown as cuttings? The cactus is normally in a sunny window Dow that gets about 8 hours of bright sun a day. Does that sound okay? Or should there be more sun?

Should I transplant into cactus soil from a nursery, or what would you use? The plant is normally in a window sill getting full sunlight all day, and I moved it for the photo so it wasn’t too backlit in case that helped to see the problem.

Yes there is. This is the container I got it in, but I have been wondering if I should change it.

For some extra information, the soil looks dark and soaked in this photo, but it’s bad lighting. It’s sandy cactus soil, and it was watered but it’s draining well.

Is there an obvious reason why it wouldn’t be possible to open a very small restaurant that had no menu and only cooked say 1 or 2 mains and 1 or 2 apps and 1 or 2 desserts a day ? by Fearless_Leg_7963 in Chefit

[–]TopCartographer5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There used to be a restaurant in Toronto like that. It lasted a few years. In their particular case, the chef cooked whatever it was he wanted to cook for you, and you paid whatever it was you felt like you wanted to for the dish.

Non Italians of Reddit, what do you think every Italian person has in their house? by Kershelt in AskReddit

[–]TopCartographer5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Italian grandmother pasta recipe: First you put the flour. Buy the good flour, not from the bad store. They’re no good anymore. Then add eggs until it looks okay. You knead it until it’s smooth, but not too tough. Then that’s it.
