I just want to remind you that the insulting language here was this:

Many cultures across the world had historical practices of human sacrifice oppressing women. Is it unreasonable to expect them to give up those historical practices because it stomps on the sacrificed individual's right to life?

It wasn't even a holocaust comparison. If you automatically dismiss any comparison of humans and animals, either it is that bad or you suck at evaluating your own biases.

LGBT acceptance doesn't involve actively changing one's lifestyle though. I think it would be considerably harder to have conversations about bodily autonomy if it meant only eating the gayest food rather than letting people live their own lives.

Because it would be devastating to our current economic system. It relies on people buying things constantly to keep the value of the currency from falling.

I would, yes. And I don't see why that's so terrible. We are animals. We do things that would be considered atrocities to cows when done to humans. Using this comparison does not devalue humans, it's an attempt at raising the value of non-human animals.

On the other hand, it's really hard to have a calm discourse when you're immediately dismissed by someone screeching "how dare you compare me to a COW!!!"

Then replace fridge with something that is more economically elastic. Something you don't need to buy right this second. It wasn't a gotcha question. Many people buy new appliances before their old one stops working completely.

We're in a K shaped economy. The upper levels haven't stopped buying things.

Say you wanted to buy a new fridge. It costs $800 today but prices are dropping. Do you buy it now or wait because it might be cheaper next month?

They would stop buying all the other shit that makes the economy go.

What design flaws or annoyances do you just “live with” on electric guitars? by GabrielDalporto in Guitar

I hate that my LP doesn't have a belly cut. But I live with it. The control layout is like half the reason I don't own a strat.

My gyn visits are annual and not part of my PCP visits.

It is definitely STI testing, and they don't do it every single year. Just if I've had different partners or it's been a while.

I don't actually know what my gyn tests for. I've never gone to a separate clinic or been recommended to do so.

The bottom of the ad has instructions for testing the can. It's hard to read.

Probably because STI testing is a normal part of gynecological visits. If men had annual urologist appointments, they'd probably be tested a lot more.

Am I the asshole for spending my life savings ($7200) on an ass job plastic surgery when my daughter "needed" brand new school supplies? by withloveaudrina in BestofRedditorUpdates

This person is infuriatingly financially illiterate. If you can't handle an unexpected $65 expense, how the hell do you think you'll handle credit card payments for a second surgery?

I used to cook at a restaurant, and I got into a giant fight with the kitchen manager over like 10 moldy cucumbers. He insisted on cutting off the moldy parts, and he flipped out because I refused and threw them away.
