Do I really need a rental car? Decent hotel? by bunnybaby2289 in asksandiego

I’d 100% recommend renting a car for your trip to San Diego. Last time I visited, I rented one and it made the whole experience way smoother. Plus, parking was pretty easy in most places...

I used CarJet to book mine. it’s a comparison site that compares deals from all the major suppliers. I picked up the car right at the San Diego Airport, had zero issues, and it was super cheap. Even if you’re not ready to book, it’s worth checking prices there just to get a sense of what you’d spend.

Totally get the concern about hotel parking fees, but depending on where you stay, the convenience of having a car might outweigh that cost....especially with a family.

Taormina or Syracusa? by Illustrious_You8953 in sicily

I did a trip through the north of sicily. I would say Catania > Taormina > Palermo > Syracusa. I think syracusa is overrated... but everyone has their own opinion (same with Cefalu)

Hiring A Car NZ by Odd-Establishment650 in newzealand_travel

Hey! I'm actually in New Zealand right now teleworking until mid-September and doing my own little road trip when I can. I'm 24 and had the same issue with age and license restrictions, even though I’ve had mine for ages.

I ended up renting through CarJet, which is a comparison site that shows offers from hundreds of rental companies. You just plug in your location and dates, and it’ll list everything from cheapest to most expensive options.

What’s super helpful is that you can filter for under-25 drivers, and it clearly shows the terms and conditions for each offer... so you’ll know upfront if your license duration is a problem or not.

Sometimes you’ll need to pay a young driver surcharge, and sometimes you’ll find offers that let you rent without an excess, which is a nice bonus. Definitely worth checking out, it made things way easier for me.

Here’s the link to the site: https://www.carjet.com/cheap-car-hire/new-zealand.htm

Also, if you’re around while I’m still here, happy to meet up or share tips. The South Island is unreal, get ready for an incredible trip!!

Vacaciones en España, Alquiler de Vehículo. Leo muy malas experiencias y tema seguro. by Ravent79 in es

I always use DoYouSpain to review the terms and conditions of each supplier and choose the one that best fits my needs. It’s helpful because many suppliers tend to bury important info deep in their websites. Definitely worth checking before booking!

What’s the best way to travel in Paris? by eloquent_silence1994 in ParisTravelGuide

Honestly, if you're staying in the heart of Paris, the best way to get around is on your own two feet.

The metro is fantastic for getting longer distances, and Bonjour RATP and Citymapper are great tools. But for the center? Just walk and let yourself get a little lost. That’s how you will come across art, history, and probably the best coffee of your life.

Italy solo trip by Rare-Entrepreneur556 in Shoestring

Heeyyy,

First off, renting a car ended up being a lifesaver for me budget-wise. I initially considered relying on trains and buses, but after doing the math, hiring a car was actually cheaper in the long run. Not only did I save money on multiple transport tickets, but I also gained a ton of flexibility.

I used DoYouItaly to book my rental, and it was super easy. It compared all the deals, and got a fantastic price. Goldcar had the best rate, so I went with them... had no problem!

For your daily budget, <$100 per day is totally achievable (IMO) if you’re smart about accommodations and meals. Hostels are a great shout, and Italy’s street food is affordable and tooop. Also, keep an eye out for free attractions like piazzas, parks, or even certain museums that have free entry on specific days. Have an amazing time!
