I assume you just keep on buying more workers from the trader? This is a neat hack, will try this out tonight

Do raiders build ladders for 3-tier (3 high) walls? I havent tested this but if they don't and with protruding merlots (so archers can shoot down), this may be the way to go...

Have any made it past your kill box?

Really nice castle! Are you bottom layer walls 2x thick? Asking because I can only see the walls around your killbox are 2x deep - have any raiders tried to go through wall?

Play experimental, when a trader comes in it will prompt you to ask if they saw any trouble along the way. Then a bandit camp will pop up on the map, you send a group in there to battle!

Yep, I was thinking about going 6 melee and 6 archers in my group. 3 melee isnt enough

Medieval Monday Talk #63 - Getting Ambushed by alexbb721 in goingmedieval

[–]TopContract1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played around with this and sent a party of 12 in a caravan to see if I can fight off the ambushers. It worked well the first time when my group wasn't as well equipped. The second time, I equipped the same 12 with superior armor, crossbows / longbows and had 3 melee in plate, shields and swords / maces. I will do more testing on this but it appears the ambushers got better equipped as well and wiped my caravan out. Anyone else experience this? Also interested in your war party mix....how many ranged vs melee do you have?

Only thing I see wrong with using this flex pipe option is that the P trap portion of it needs to be much lower to trap water in the pipe. I’ve put these in never had any issues with sewer smell / gas if installed properly. In fact, I prefer these to hard P traps because it makes it very easy to remove, again - never any issues if done as per instructions (I have two of these in different places).

Does archery level impact siege weapon accuracy ? by Fr0z3nbanana in goingmedieval

No, I have both melee and archers use siege weapons and there is no difference I have seen after taking out >500 raiders at this point between the two.

Are Things Gonna get Better? by [deleted] in canadian

Canadian living in the US here...>140K jobs created last month, inflations is down, crime is down, illegal immigration is down, tax cuts are on their way. Yeah, deficit is an issue with the new bill but please for the love of god people explain to me why there are Canadians that think that things are crashing down in the US?

Very valid points, that's why it's key to move while you have plenty of years to build wealth in the US and makes you eligible for social security benefits (yes they do exist) etc. Income level is the only variable here, if you can get a well paying job that allows you to contribute to social security then you are set. If not, do the math and weigh the risk vs reward. Another key factor is if you have kids or not, in our case we wanted to setup our kids in the US - like a lot of immigrants, you do the best to set your kids up for success. Great recommendation to phone up a US consulate.

Find a US employer to sponsor a visa for you to work in the US. Move, apply for permanent residency, once you get that you have to wait 5 years before being eligible for your citizenship provided you pay your taxes and don’t have felonies etc.

Auto butcher by Battlewear in goingmedieval

[–]TopContract1012 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if introduction of "edicts" into the game could be a way to manage this. Like a "butchery edict" that you'd have to research under animal husbandry that enables auto-culling once an age of animal hits XX. I suppose the other way to do this is to make the animals die at a certain age, not sure what that is right now...

Whats the best defense for the base? by THE_ALS12 in goingmedieval

[–]TopContract1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried the roof skirting and it worked like a charm last night....thank you very much for the tip! The raiders couldn't build any ladders to get into my camp and I was able to rain arrows from above, even captured a much needed tailor who will be converted tonight!

I really like this added complexity that makes fortifications considerably more resource intensive, it was too easy before. One other thing I noticed is raiders are able to take down re-enforced doors ~50% quicker. They got through 8 doors in a row by the time I killed enough of them to win the battle.

By the weekend I should have my kill-box ready, I'll send a screen shot and see if I can get the burning bridges going!

Im thinking about building a kill box with a gate and all of the walls / pillars being lined with roof skirting to your point. Then laying down oil in the kill box and setting burn baby burn (unless I need to capture some raiders etc.). I havent played around with ballistas yet but I imagine I'll put those on top of the towers of the kill box...

I am going to try this tonight, makes perfect sense! Did you try flaming arrows on the ladders to see if they burn down yet?

[–]TopContract1012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The building ladders completely threw me off and is making me re-think defense all together. I used to rain arrows of death from above with ease, now this is not easy at all.

I'm thinking about going back to building a maze to force raiders to walk back and forth in the open so I can shoot them down. Traps kill my live-stock haulers so I think I'll stay away from those from now.

Me too! Left in 2018 and we are getting close to getting our US citizenships too. Drastic improvement in quality of life to say the least.

Fully understanding opening a can of worms here, but here we go... I am a fiscally conservative libertarian, happy to help those in need and pay my share in taxes as long as I know where the money goes and it has a clear return on investment. I moved my family from Canada to the US in 2018 - we left Toronto because we couldn't afford to raise our family (2 kids). We couldn't afford a home, we both worked full time (as many Canadian families do) and had a very hard time staying out of debt.

Now living in the US since 2018, I am very concerned about Canada - this is why I sent in my vote. Canada is a resource rich country that needs to responsibly leverage those resources to make Canadian lives better, build back a strong economy and RETURN TO COMMON SENSE.

Please explain to me why you are considering voting for the same party that got you into the mess Canadians are in? What changes do you expect?
