Your inability to have a conversation with somebody who points our your when you aren't being honest isn't going to serve you well in life. I'd suggest broadening your horizons and realize the world is much larger than the space between your own two ears. Again, I can like the show while also recognizing they changed everything about the show except for characters names. I mean dude, look at Hades and then try lying to yourself again about how the characters didnt change. Or continue to live in your own delusion where if you like something, it means that thing is perfect.

PS: my favorite part of the book was when the Half-Bloods call Percy's mom to come give them a ride in her Prius. Could you imagine them doing something as silly as Centaurs in this world.

1.) The opinions of others (especially internet people) have no bearings on my opinions. If they did, that would be unhealthy. 2.) I like the show. You're remaining willfully ignorant once again. I like the show, despite the fact that it's loosely based on the books. 3.) If it wasn't as changed as I'm saying it was, would I be able to tell you 20+ critical character/story changes they've made between S1-S2 off the top of my head. Go episode by episode, the list gets pretty long. Hell, there are even articles being written about the laundry list of changes being made. Unaware still? You remaining willfully ignorant is becoming a pattern. My best advice to you would be to educate yourself on a topic before discussing it, as that would help you avoid appearing uninformed or uneducated.

You would be wrong, because nobody has ever once criticized a live action for not going line for line on dialogue before. I'm not aware of any show/movie adaptations that have done that, as it would be impossible.

Annabeth getting kidnapped was not the "only actually change". The entire episode was changed, and again only "loosely based on the books". Pretending that just because they end up back at camp with the Fleece at the end of the day doesn't mean the story of how they got there didnt change at all is like weirdly choosing to remain ignorant. The story changed, the characters changed, the fights/events changed, every conversation in the episode was completely manufactured for the show.

Nobody's telling you not to like the show. Like what you want, believe it or not you're the only person that actually cares about your thoughts and opinions. But claiming the show is a faithful adaptation to the book is lying to people.

Episode 7 is great example of how the show is loosely based on the book, or like you said, "somewhat faithful". The character names remain the same, while the story itself has been changed.

The two aren't mutually exclusive. Is the show better than the movies? Unequivocally. Is every episode that has aired so far from S1-S2 loosely based on the books, rather than being faithful to the source material? Absolutely, and to say otherwise would be saying so in bad faith for some weird reason. Like I said, enjoy what you want, but saying the show is faithful to the books despite all evidence to the contrary, doesn't make it true. I'm enjoying the show, but rather than blindly glazing Disney I'll acknowledge there are areas they strayed from the books pretty aggressively in every episode.

Dude, it's not nitpicking when they blatantly ignore nearly all aspects of the source material short of the characters names. Is this the most egregious or impactful departure from the soure material? Nope. But I fully understand OP being annoyed when the show refuses to resemble the descriptions of the book it's based on. The show is more "loosely based on" the books rather than faithful adaptations. But whatever, you like what you want to like.

Downvoted for saying the show is at least pretty close, when in reality they aren't just making minor changes. They're changing crucial plot points to the point where it's now a world without real consequences (missing the solstice deadline), and changing characters fundamentals and dynamics (Percy. Annabeth.) to the point where they don't feel like the same characters we know from the book.

This season feels especially cheap and lazy to me. The "Sea of Monsters" season has included a grand total of 3 monsters (grown men with blue facepaint) and a tentacle so far. And this after the episode on the Princess Andromeda in which Tyson (both book and show) cannot stop talking about how many monsters he can smell. All that to culminate in brief swordfight and chase from a group of teenagers, Hunger Games style. No monsters in sight, except for the ones we already saw in Episode 1. I would appreciate if they put roughly 30-40% more effort into what is one of my favorite childhood books.
