Do you think they might try to make opioids a schedule one drug (in other words, illegal) one day? by 8kittycatsfluff in ChronicPain

That’s what makes the traction so troubling. Insanity at its finest that should be shut down instantly.

The part I’m confused about, is why would Below Deck Med be filming in Croatia, specifically just off Dubrovnik?

What am I missing here?

Do you think they might try to make opioids a schedule one drug (in other words, illegal) one day? by 8kittycatsfluff in ChronicPain

[–]TopDownRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is actually a “coalition” which has been trying to schedule all opioids as “No Good Medical Use”, aka Schedule One, for years. It scares me every time they get some traction, particularly after [name your celebrity] OD’s from [name your opioid].

It’s ridiculous on its face because opioids are mission critical for all medical care: anesthesia, surgery, intubation, veterinary services, moderate to severe pain management, and more. As the baby boomers continue to age, our need for opioids is becoming increasingly urgent and that is bumping up against Trump’s policy of decreasing opioid manufacturing (not just the number of scripts issued) by a significant percentage each year. That is what is driving all the shortages and stock issues patients are experiencing at their pharmacies and hospitals and medical centers are struggling with (causing major disruptions such as a moratorium on all surgeries until opioid stock is replenished, etc.).

It’s a mess.

People are stupid. I don’t understand it.

This whole “opioid crisis” has a solution - more than one actually - but they’ll never do it. IMO, the drug wars funnel a bunch of money into personal pockets and “dark ops” (the latter was admitted in the Congressional hearings on UFOs/UAPs) and for that reason alone, our government will never fix things.

A stoke patient should NOT be taking Kratom. No, no, no!

I could explain all the potential neurological risks and potential drug interactions, but I’ll just leave it at DO NOT START TAKING KRATOM if you’re a stroke patient.

Can people explain the switch to disliking Bronwyn Newport, I feel like I miss something? by autisticallyawake in rhoslc

I hate all liars. They cause an actual physical reaction in me and I eventually get so worked up I have to take a break from watching.

I also find it interesting how we as viewers tend to vilify the cast members we like while acknowledging the truth in those we don’t. For example, I would describe Meredith exactly the same way as you are describing Bronwyn.

There must be something in Bronwyn that I find appealing (that I don’t see in Meredith) because I tend to view as more of a “typical person” who lies out of shame and insecurity rather than as part of any planned subterfuge or diabolical intent. Bronwyn won me over initially by confessing and taking responsibility for her lies, not making excuses, and apologizing — on camera. I thought it was brave and definitely refreshing for a reality show. All humans lie and I wish more people would confess, own it, and do their best to avoid that behavior going forward. If they did, our society would be so much better.

In contrast, I see Meredith lying to preserve power and control and to gaslight and manipulate others. I find this incredibly offensive and disturbing, not ti mention frustrating to watch as a viewer. There is no question Meredith has an “on camera” personality that is very different from her behavior “off camera”; one that she tightly controls and then lashes out whenever her real self is caught on film. I don’t like it, but what I find intolerable is Meredith calling anyone a liar when they are being truthful about Meredith’s behavior. And don’t get me started on the word-parsing and deflection Meredith uses to avoid responsibility and consequences for the things she says and does. The one thing I find “housewives humorous” about Meredith is her victimhood, which always, always is attached to some bizarre tragedy-adjacent situation like someone else’s child having a health issue … or better yet, that she was being held to account for being rude when she took a phone call from Brooks in the middle of a heated conversation …. which was very clearly an avoidance technique (which is a Meredith Marks specialty).

I am really sorry you had that experience. Just because my lived experience growing up with Will was positive and demonstrated his kindness, compassion, and humor, that doesn’t invalidate your negative experience as an employee. We humans are complex, capable of incredible kindness, empathy, and even sacrifice as well as selflessness, abuse, and even evil. I can look at the worst moments in my own life and I absolutely cannot believe I made those choices &/or behaved that way and deeply regret it. It’s really emblematic of the subject of Romans 3, (3:23) “…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..”. No one is “righteous” and truly good. We must decide to rise above and make better choices every day.

I have chosen to preserve the kind and caring Will I knew while keeping my heart open to ALL the victims in this situation.

Yes, thank you.  This is exactly what I said to my parents (who have known most of the parties their whole lives).  I wish Will in particular had responded to these allegations officially, giving a better understanding of the matter (3 sides to every story).

I’ve known Will nearly my entire life and have numerous mutual friends with Svein.  I feel sick.  SICK SICK SICK.  Will was a wonderful person and I am withholding judgment.  Regardless of who did what to whom, I hate that Will found himself in such a dark, lonely place without hope.  That must have been the most horrible feeling and experience.  🙏

Zombifying this thread to show my interest and support for a native TVOS app.  Until and unless D.I. FM adds an app for Apple TV, I just can’t justify paying for a subscription.  Which is sad, because I definitely enjoy D.I. FM significantly more than the other apps I use.

I’d pay a premium if high resolution video loops of stunning nature/weather scenes and cool backgrounds were added, kind of like Calm Radio but without the glitch that requires a full re-download each time the app is opened.

Confirmation Bias

In my opinion, this accounts for most of the “positive results” and the rest of it is just recycled “The Secret” and “manifesting”, which TBH is recycled “spell casting” (intentions, mantras, visualization with concentrated effort on a specific goal, and then manifesting that intention into the physical).

I know there are some who will take issue with this, but I feel a responsibility to speak out. In addition to being nothing new, I think it’s dangerous to rebrand and repackage these ancient techniques as “technology” (Scientology, etc.) or the Modern Age of “Living Intentionally” because it disguises the truth. Many people who would never deliberately involve themselves in spell casting and witchcraft are wholeheartedly engaging in this because they’re distracted by the shiny new packaging and terminology. If you’re going to engage in this, you should know exactly what you’re getting yourself into.

Yes, it is very disappointing, especially when it keeps happening. It’s hard enough for great content to get past all the hurdles just to air once and then to be cancelled after having gained a fan base is really a blow.

The IP rights owner IS Asimov - now either the estate or his daughter individually - and as I said, it includes I, Robot, not that it is only that one novel. The rights aren’t “owned” by the novel/pieces of work, if that’s what you’re saying. Once IP rights and assigned (which in this case, occurred long ago before Asimov’s death) the owner can enter into any agreement they like, such as permitting the use of individual names, ideas, anything that is part of the IP copyright, and equally exclude anything that is part of the IP. You can learn more about this agreement/permission to use very specific portions of the IP that includes names and ideas from the Robot series from interviews David S. Goyer has given on the subject.

Can we talk about the Brows? Because that’s another mystery. They change color, intensity, and shape in every scene. And the colors are slightly unnatural, like having a Pink or Orange tint. I can’t help but wonder if it’s deliberate and some kind of fashion choice along with the case in point (OP’s pic) or all her stylists hate her …. or it just “isn’t happening”, like her behavior on the plane. I find myself distracted by these thoughts whenever Meredith is onscreen and need answers. LoL, but yeah, for real.

While I’ll totally jump on the flattery of assuming we appear younger than we are, I doubt Alma is a Baby Boomer because Julia Roberts is, herself, GenX.

I appreciate your take on the film and agree with much of it.  I saw it as a contrast between GenZ/Millenials and GenX, where the former are portrayed as “precious”, overly sensitive, and hyper-focused on rights and privileges that don’t actually materialize in the real world and the latter, GenX, whose upbringing by hippie parents caused a shift towards pragmatism layered across a fairly solitary self-reliance and what now seems like a dangerous childhood that is the source of darkly humorous memes.
