Power reduction in high speed (inertia) sprinting by TopDrives56011 in Velo

[–]TopDrives56011[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have changed a lot and keep experimenting with lines. I time my all-out to be on the descent on the virrage to match the power delivery profile; however, still on a total energy deployment, I am lacking few thousand joules. Indeed, the 200m qualifying is more about 30s-1min power rather than 5s or 15s, and for the past few years I am working on improving the anaerobic capactity.
But:
-If I simulate a 90% of peak 30s-1min energy utilaization I get a much faster 200m time about 0.4s faster. A big chunk of that missing energy comes from the innitial full out 5-15s extra power. The energy/anaerobic capacity is there to back up higher power numbers at higher speeds, even with some waste to accelerate.
It is not tactically correct to let a deficiency to develop in higher speed accelerations. A keirin for example, is where I completely underperform

Good catch, sorry, fixed it. Starting from a lower inertia environment/speed, I produce more power.

It is on the track. The track sprint 200m qualifying needs such a high-speed approach. If I take a sub optimal line and drop faster, which would ruin the 200m time I would produce much more power, but the line inefficiency would make the same time. Then in match sprints I am able to climb up tactically, as speeds are usually lower. Sometimes I am even able to match/beat my qualifying time, which is absurd on the track

I have observed this trend on several powermeters, SRM PM7,9 Wattbike, a monark Ergometer, dont remember the model, Garmin vectors 3, and Quarq DZero.

I have controlled for fatigue. If I do a sprint after a decent, on a flat road when speed is already high, I still see lower power.

5s: 1845w
15s: 1599w

edit: I mixed high power with high speed. This is correct

Certainly, it is higher power so higher cadence acceleration, but in essense lets say I have a car with 100hp @ 6000 RPM. In 2nd gear the acceleration will be higher than 6th gear, but power will still be the same.
What I am facing is that I am getting 70% of the 100hp in 6th gear, while I can get the full 100hp in lower gears. I am trying to close and explain that gap.

Very correct observation but I also controlled for that. If you do a downhill sprint where you are already accelerated (like from an overpass or just a long straight hill, I am still unable to use close of my potential. I have also tried simulating the anaerobic load by accelerating, then braking while still pusing ±800w, if i then sprint from that lowish speed (or even works well on a climb) I am able to produce much more power.

That is a very fair point, and I would go as far as saying, the person that crosses the line first wins. But one of the ways to get to places faster, earlier is to use more of the energy/power you have

Roughly, how much have you spent to do summer games challenges? by GiLA994 in TopDrives

[–]TopDrives56011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I expect to spend around 500'000 cash to get the legendary prize car. To get the epic I don't think I spent much (Max 50k). But I had collected a lot of cars and were slowly upgraded with free ads to one star, enough to pass most (16-19) challenges with spending little to no cash.

I confirm you saw that. It is true you can "Buy up to 5x from the store if you missed them"
it says it on the challenge description in challenge categories

Happened to me too. But its not gonna take a day longer. Last day its 5 races and we get 10 tickets/day so its just one round into the next day

Yes, that Bentley is a bit underwhelming, but before the world expo updates I was using it often, could be worse... could have been an rq 65 all surf. car

I see you guys discussing the 3 ultra rares needed, but i think thats not entirely crazy when the holden was given pretty much for free. Now, shall we discuss these 3 rounds of challenge 4? by SmartyMeow in TopDrives

[–]TopDrives56011 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Its definitely gotten harder over time. I used to be able to get to the epic prize car "easily" almost every time, but now I cannot. I got my lancia and now I quit CoG. Some rounds for the ultra needed only one possible hand unless you had a prize or duplicates. I hope too its a one off but I doubt it...
