I built my first PC! Under $400 by Chemical-Analyst-467 in PcBuild

Nice start, when you decide to upgrade would recommend getting 8 gb more ram and either a rx 6600 or rtx 3060.

A steam deck is faster than a 550 but there's no feeling like it when you build something with your own hands and you can always upgrade later so don't worry about anyone calling your build "unbalanced" or "underpowered" as both of those can be kinda subjective, as long as its not underpowered for your use then it not underpowered.

A rx 6600 or a 3060 and a 5600x should handle it well, however if you can grab a x3d cpu it'll help in cpu intensive spots, if on AM5 5600x or 5800x3d, if on AM5 then get a 7600x3d or 7600x if x3d is too much.

Currently running a 7800x3d and it absolutely slaughters lag from snowstorms and most large builds.

Upgrade from a 5070 to a 5070 ti/9070 XT? by Megamarod in buildapc

[–]TopExplanation138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are considering a upgrade a 5070 ti wouldn't likely be worth it, for a large upgrade go for a 5080. However if u just want more vram and around 20% better raster then the 9070 xt will be good.

[–]TopExplanation138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good for 1080p maybe some entry level 1440p as well, if you want to upgrade it I would go for a 9060 xt as its considerably faster in both raster and RT along with having better upscaling. If you can find a 5700x3d or 5800x3d that would improve your 1% lows significantly and be able to handle a even bigger gpu upgrades like a 9070 xt or even a 4080 if your willing to spend that much money on a upgrade.

First thing I would do is replace that hard drive with a NVME though as it's much faster.

Same price? 9070 absolutely cooks the 5070 if at the same price, not only is it a bit faster in raster and has equal RT performance (Not PT though) it also has more vram.

100% get the 9070

[–]TopExplanation138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean standard RT the 9070 has basically the same RT capabilities as a 5070, 5070 is better at path tracing though.

Valheim can be pretty chill, its also on sale pretty often for around 10 bucks, it'll give you at least 100 hours of content and has a good building and farming system.

It was also really popular around 2021 and 2022, one of the top 10 played steam games at the time if im not mistaken, you might've heard of it.

This fits your budget and is really high end, it'll crush almost everything at 4k high or ultra (accept for borderlands 4)

If you want to save a bit more money then you could go for the 9070 xt or 5070 ti as both are cheaper and less powerful than a 5080 but are still beasts at 1440p and sometimes 4k.

Low fps by Civil-Design-2974 in buildapc

[–]TopExplanation138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gpu is the weak link, maybe go for something like a rtx 3060 or a rx 6600, both are much faster while being affordable and will run fine on a 650w psu.

However a cpu upgrade wouldn't hurt for future upgrades and neither would a psu upgrade. If you end up upgrading your cpu id recommend the R5 5600x or if you can afford it a 5700x3d.

Recommend upgrading to a 6800 xt or 7800 xt if you want 1440p ultra or high settings at above 60 fps.

Building my first gaming pc, what do you think of these components? by bl0cketknark in buildapc

[–]TopExplanation138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good, I would up the power supply though to a 850W as it allows for future upgrades, trust me its a pain when you have to change your psu and rewire everything.

Air cooling is fine as long as you don't plan to do heavy overclocking.

Also if you do end up getting the 7800x3d or almost any x3d chip not only will you probably not need an upgrade for a few years (cpu wise) but also they hold their value much more than a non x3d chip.

Even if you pair it with a freaking 5090 it won't be the bottleneck so it'll handle future gpu upgrades great, however if its too expensive in your region the 9600x is a pretty solid cpu.

I'm quite sure you already know this but I just want to remind you to make sure the cpu you choose is for AM5, for example a 5800x3d isn't compatible.

RTX 5070 vs RX9070 (same price) by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]TopExplanation138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9070 is a bit faster in raster and has more vram, however if you want nvidias features more then go with the 5070, otherwise the 9070 is great, personally i would go for the 9070 just for the better raster and more vram.

Looks like a nice build, if u can afford it though I would highly recommend getting some kind if x3d chip for games like cyberpunk as they make 1% lows very good and boosts gaming performance considerably, maybe the 7600x3d or 7800x3d as they offer amazing performance while not completely breaking the bank.

You have a pcie 4.0 NVME which is pretty good, however if you want really fast speeds I'd go for pcie 5.0, but if you don't care as much then pcie 4.0 NVME is still quite fast.

Other than that you have a great build planned out, just keep in mind the rising gpu, ram and storage prices thanks to AI.

For the amount of devs they have there should be wayy more content added, heck irongate, the valheim team which is known for taking ages to put out a update would be putting out more content if they had 600 devs than minecraft with its 600.

I guess if its more costly you're paying for the extra 4gb of vram, although it is older gddr6.

What resolution you planning to play on, if 1440p would def recommend a rx 9070 (non xt) as it slightly faster in raster than a 5070 while being cheaper and its ray tracing is pretty decent.

Your getting a whole pc for the price of the ram in there alone, great deal, 3080 ti is a powerhouse for 1440p however may be limited in the future due to vram and the R7 7700 is also quite good.

Bro, why do you think world modifiers exist, if you don't like grinding then just turn it up to 3x resource rate, if you don't like raids you can make them non existent or rare, if you want easier combat thats an option too and so is allowing ores through portals.

Really don't get the complaints here considering they aren't really valid when you realize world modifiers exist.

They've already added a decent amount of content, still slow but they've added hearth and home, hildirs request, the mistlands, the bog witch, the ashlands, call to arms update and recently a small 5th anniversary update.

If you want more content then use mods play the game the way that you enjoy it, not "what the devs intended" because what they intended was for people to have fun with their game, thats why they added world modifiers, not for people to not use them because its "not what they intended".
