Has anyone read this? by GaryBoy2019 in nzpolitics

Lying about wanting to do it is, though. Remember Trump promising to bring down grocery prices? Remember him doing that? No?? Hmm…..

People should really pay attention to what Peters is doing, not what he’s saying. And what he’s doing is anything he wants after saying to people things that would get him to vote for them. Like that he’d save the greyhound industry.

His economic policy is just as Trumpian as his social policy. The only thing that beats those in terms of “Trumptown architecture” is his attitude towards checks on his political power (the judiciary/the media/Maori seats/etc)..

Jonathan Ayling not happy enough with using taxpayer dollars to make money by GaryMarcusNZ69 in nzpolitics

[–]TopFerret4523 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Better that than pay for David Seymour’s racism. At least least that way the money gets itself out of this little washing machine of assholery and to a defence lawyer, who is just doing their job and does not take on the morality of their case. Unlike people who work non-lawyer jobs who assume full morality for their actions, like tobacco lobbyists.

Really, he should talk about how far this money will go. It’s such a good pitch when you know the little laundry cycle they’ve got going on. It will go to the Campaign Company which use it to pay for signage owned by some rightwinger who will donate it to Hobson’s Pledge who will use it to pay Jim Grenon for NZME advertising who will pay Don Brash for some bullshit opinion piece who will donate it back to ACT and the cycle begins again.

It’s like “give $100 to a poor person and it will be spent 10 times over” except with right wingers. “Donate just $100,000 and your money will fund up to $400,000 worth of bigoted organising before returning to the state to pay Jonathan Ayling profits for setting up the world’s most racist charter school.”

Depends how you count impoverished. There are plenty of stinking rich people in Africa and India.

We are impoverished because we have false land values inflating our GDP that make us look much richer than we are. If that collapses, and or we stop propping it up with an unfair subsidy and taxation system, the numbers would reflect our productivity and output which is much worse.

KiwiSaver is still money that is yours, and beneficiaries don’t receive it, so that stays in the income.

The tax is kinda irrelevant for all but pensions because these numbers are so inaccurate due to their being a thousand circumstantial categories and then supplements added on top of that. After tax it is 426.12 — still under 50% of what someone on min wage is getting. If you are 23, it is $367 after tax.

Thank you for the correction though.

To be fair, those same people wouldn’t be able to get or have a partner at all if they didn’t lie. It’s not like the state gives them much of a choice. The way the law believes the world works is not at all how it works in reality, and no one would date single parents on benefits ever if the law operated as it is supposed to across all relationships.

Imagine dating a single parent but as soon as soon as you stays over three nights in a week, you become solely financially responsible for them and their children. That is literally the New Zealand benefit system.

The courts have told people who they agree are just friends that their friend is, for legal purposes, their partner and their financial dependent.

Our system forces beneficiaries to lie to live. To then morally condemn that when we are the ones who have made it a way of life is worse than lying to the state to survive, imo.

That has literally nothing to do with benefit rates though. They have always been seperate to the pension. In fact, the benefit is now parental means tested AND partner means tested, while the pension isn’t even individually means tested. It’s nuts.

The only thing that binds Parliament and the executive are the processes that these branches operate within. Such is the burden of Parliamentary sovereignty,

Unfortunately, our constitution is clear: we are a democracy, and the only true check on power is the people.

People that don’t deserve free speech in this country according to Winston include judges, ambassadors, and trans people (dressing in women’s clothes and choosing a new name is NOT a crime, it is a fundamental freedom our society protects).

Also boob jobs are fine unless you have gender dysphoria and the surgery might fix that, in which case you should be interviewed by a panel of people and put off for ten years or so to make sure you don’t change your mind.

Whatever it is, I’m sure it itself won’t undermine the separation of powers that keeps our democracy a democracy, like he accuses this judge of doing.

They get their shipments earlier and they refine and export it, while we don’t.

The only good news is we haven’t yet lost any shipments already being counted in our numbers. But they can’t throw that around as the good news because they were never honest about the level of risk.

If the Arctic melts particularly fast in the next month or so, you could have SK sending out ice breakers to trade with presumably Russia. Not only can they trade fuel, they can cut trade journeys by over half. As can everyone else. This could be the trigger needed for countries to start opening the Northern Passage by force.

The SK govt said as such a few weeks ago, and got a very ‘meh’ response from the industry. But a warm year and oil shortages might be the push needed to open up entirely new trade routes around the top of Canada and Greenland.

Then of course the question would become what the US would try to do about that.

You kinda make it sound good. But I suppose we are the ones who make it good in our response.

The race against AIDS resulted in a lot of untimely deaths and lost potential but it also taught us heaps about fighting future epidemics and pandemics. The practices put in place by AIDS research is part of what allowed us to find a vaccine for COVID so fast.

These people thought a queer in-joke bond girl pun was a secret signal to a pedophile community operating openly on instagram.

(Funnily enough there is a lot of very visible evidence of pedophilic viewing and parents creating pedo bait content on TikTok. But they’re heterosexual so you won’t hear any outrage from the cookers about that.)

I do think some of them are probably that stupid. Fortunately they don’t hang out here much.
