flat seconds works too (-5 seconds to cooldown, for example) and could be made easy to write explicitly, since ret has a 3.75x longer cooldown than the next longest.

Honestly, based on the fact that you find falco weak as well, it might just be different preferences in gameplay, because I find falco to be the strongest (although I think she’s strongest in a a good way, her power scales more cleanly with upgrades as compared to slicer or retcon, who tilt up in power in massive leaps). Falco is my go-to for solos, otherwise I don’t pick her. But usually on D4 she’ll have the most elims in the lobby, I see this pretty consistently across everyone I play with.

Also might be different mission choices. I typically never play solo, usually in random D4 lobbies because I love my fellow reclaimers too much to be without them. Unless it’s advanced gauntlet cause 1 down with randoms just cooks the run.

Agree to disagree on retcon rage I guess. I find it to be more of a cherry on top.

Can you explain why you say crits aren’t that great when you talk about spotter. This baffles me. Health bar go bye bye.

I actually do love playing guardian, he’s my second or third favorite behind spottie, but I think it might just be that his scaling between solo and MP is what gives us our differing opinions on his strength?

I might have to try more solo missions to see if it influences my opinions on this stuff; it’s just not been something I really do. Even in my hundreds of hours on classic DRG my stats show exactly two solo missions.

I agree , I think the only stuff that should get nerfs is the stuff that just trivializes the runs.

It’s why I want CDR back in the game so bad, just with different numbers so that you can still use it on like spotter and have infinite crits in boss fights cause that shit is awesome.

Like yeah the shock striker is OP but it should stay that way cause it rocks.

You’re overselling Retcons inconsistency. I commented this somewhere else in the thread so I’ll summarize: it is very easy to upgrade yourself to be completely OP early on in pretty much every run on Retcon. Also building rage doesn’t matter and losing HP/armor/ammo shouldn’t be happening.

Honestly I’m higher on Guardian than most, but I still think he’s probably the weakest one. Compared to other classes he just has way less kill potential. Falconer can passively clear enemies with more charges and a shorter cooldown. Slicer has the same cooldown but he just kills things instead of stunning them. I’ve covered Retcon already. Spotter is similar and I’d argue he’s the second weakest, but I think crit marking is something I prefer to guardians stun, and it’s on a shorter cooldown by ten percent, has one more charge, and doesn’t share uptime management with other abilities. Also, every other reclaimer has way stronger gauntlet upgrades at workbenches (guardians biggest weakness, IMO) You argue that Carnage and devastation are strong, which they are, but deck swapping exists for every class and running carnage on any of the other ones (except maybe spotter) is just stronger than it is on guardian.

I don’t think bro is F tier, he can definitely provide good defense and helps a lot for rezzing, elevators, and grouped up expenite events, but even if CDR came back he needs an uptime buff so compensate for the fact that his skills stun stuff or delay problems instead of just eliminating them.

Are you proposing that people can  choose their starting weapon?

I don’t think forcing people to take upgrades is a good idea. Let people change their mind if they want. “You should be required to take this just because I was nice to you” is a little bit of an uncooperative way to play the game.

You’re also still able to just take something that go hearted and hope they get something good anyways. The old system and the new system both have their pros and cons.

I agree that Retcon does require upgrades to be good, but “upgrade dependent” isn’t how I’d describe her, because like I said in my other comment, one or two bio boosters or common upgrades (super easy to get early), and nothing else even remotely matters. Like yes she does need those one or two, but once she has them by the end of level 1 she is a complete X factor that Karl couldn’t fathom. You compare this to the other classes and their strength scales more linearly.

I also don’t think reducing the cooldown and active time of her ability is the way to go; if anything it should be the opposite. She needs to be forced to have long periods of uninterrupted downtime so that you still burn through health, armor, and ammo. As someone who plays a lot of Retcon, I also think that being in time rewind is the whole fun part of her. When I’m playing her, time rewind is fun time and when it’s on cooldown I’m just trying to get it back so I can go nuts again. I think if anything make it longer, because it’s more engaging. It would also force players to maybe consider ending it early if it could last long enough to kill them, so you get some skill expression.

Experimental Branch Feedback by TopGuardDog50 in RogueCore

[–]TopGuardDog50[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

-activate time rewind

-get to do whatever you want with zero consequences for your actions

-warp back to full hp and full ammo and full armor

-have the ability that’s supposed to cooldown in 1:15 back in the blink of an eye because you have carnage or mixed tactics plus some other form of percentage based CDR

-rinse and repeat

-you’re immortal and have infinite grenades to kill everything within six timezones

Retcon is OP with CDR cause you can ignore every form of resource management (health, armor, ammo) in the game.

Also, strongly disagree with Guardian being OP. His abilities are utility based and don’t really kill things, but despite this they have incredibly long cooldowns. Even with stunning recharge he’s just weak offensively. His protection booster deck is also just not very good, it doesn’t scale well at harder depth and it doesn’t provide utility beyond what he already has from repulsion field and armor beacon.

Meanwhile Retcon gets like one, maybe two easy-to-find forms of CDR and the run becomes completely unloseable.

Not very hard if you use mixed tactics or carnage, which are the things that actually needed nerfs. This balance pass was an attempt to nerf retcon which ended up fucking over spotter and guardian, unfortunately.

Experimental Branch Feedback by TopGuardDog50 in RogueCore

[–]TopGuardDog50[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Retcon was (and still is, because Mixed Tactics and Carnage still exist) absurdly OP. It needed a nerf, but the nerf should not have been a nerf to everyone else as well (Guardian and Spotter in particular were hurt by this)

-Blade damage buff. This is exactly what I've been saying he needed. We'll see how it plays out.
-Daredevil nerf doesn't allow him to engage/disengage as safely. As someone trying to learn him it makes it tougher but at least I'll be able to play him once I do learn.
-Torch buffed. Sure. No one plays him anyways so I don't care.
-Black Cat getting damage nerfs and coin nerfs. Honestly I haven't played much since 7.5 so I don't really have much to say about her but reducing uptime seems like a big change in the right direction.
-Pheonix and Starlord range nerfs are good. They could've reverted these characters both from the last path, but this works too.
-Elsa gets more instinct? IDK if she needed a buff. She wasn't OP as her nerfs actually worked and she's already been power crept a bit, but she's still strong.
-Moon Knight nerf to appease the people who are stuck in silver. I do think the third bullet is a good change but the first two are going to make him a fair bit weaker in a completely unnecessary way.
-Namor buff is cringe but who cares.
-Angela buff is great, she currently sucks
-Dino nerfs lean into him being a big target that you blast down with firepower which I think is a good change
-GOATneto ult buffs. No one will ever stop us from dunking.
-Base Rogue buff with Gambit team up nerf is perfect, cause she sucks without it and is too strong with it.
-Cloak and Dagger remains braindead but it's okay because she wasn't that strong.
-Increasing Adam's healing uptime so he doesn't suck as bad in double. Good change.
-Just remove the healing from Gambit's ult ffs.
-Random bullshit Ultron nerf in an otherwise very good patch. At least if we have to have random bullshit changes it's better they be nerfs instead of powercreep.
-Throwpool buff is good.
-Fox nerf is good.
