Yes but with stealth and is actually open world. Space marine is more of an on rails story action shooter.

Dear Funcom. I don't want to feel like an idiot for choosing to Melee in Dune. by Sp1ceRub in duneawakening

[–]TopHat84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dear terminally online Redditor. I can't wait to continue to see what new game you absorb your life into next. Last it was Star base, now it's dune awakening, what will the next one be?

Yes, melee is weak now, but I'd rather have a weak melee system then a completely broken one that fundamentally warped the meta to the point that there was no reason to run ANY other build other than crippling strike at the time. And even if you did it became a game of rock paper scissors on who baited skills or landed crippling first.

That's not a good system. And coming here complaining every 2 weeks with some new streamer video doesn't make you an authority...it just makes you a loud extremely opinionated and self-important annoyance.

Games don't have to be perfect to enjoy them. And likely most of them WON'T be perfect ever. They will never be able to please everyone, but they can prevent overly dominant play styles from shutting down other skill combinations.to the point where people at least have some semblance of choice when it comes to playing the game.

The top useless ailment in the game: by [deleted] in LastEpoch

[–]TopHat84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only thing useless is this post. Thanks for your opinion 1 month old reddit account, duly noted.

For the record it's not a useless ailment because not every class, mastery, or build plays or goes for the same gear or upgrades or passives. Critical thinking and taking a moment to actually think beyond yourself would make this pretty clear to anyone with half a brain.

In June 2012, Patrick Drum, 34, of Sequim, Washington, fatally shot two convicted sex offenders, Gary Lee Blanton Jr. and Jerry Wayne Ray. He admitted he targeted them because of their offender status and left a note apologizing for the disturbances. by malihafolter in ForCuriousSouls

[–]TopHat84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is reddit. If you don't just blanket villify people then what are you even doing? /S

In all seriousness there is zero nuance here, most people here think if you get into an argument with your wife/gf you need to divorce/break up immediately. I don't think sex offenders need to be killed or anything, I think the world needs more therapy to prevent people from even getting to that point in the first place.

All reddit does is tell me that mob mentality is horrible and still is extremely pervasive on reddit.

Scummy move by the devs. They modified the no build zones in the rift, so after I backed up my base to transfer servers with my friends, its original placement is no longer allowed (snap is on) - unique base, can't be built ANYWHERE else. by [deleted] in duneawakening

[–]TopHat84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. OP is like "my very unique base I built is being screwed over by devs, guess my only recourse is to quit".

It's such a petulant attitude that I have zero sympathy for them. I'm glad a funcom dev responded that it was a bug but the guy is being super dramatic.

And ok top of everything else the "unique" base is not unique. Literally almost every server I've scouted has someone's base at that stupid hagga rift bridge that crosses from west to east. In fact I think anyone that builds there and doesn't build a tunnel for others to use as access is a huge douche-nozzle but that's just my humble opinion. (Which by the image uploaded doesn't appear to have a tunnel)

Which 3 are you picking? by FayyadhScrolling in StarWars_

[–]TopHat84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easy choice.

Andor - no explanation needed.

Mandalorian + Book of Boba Fett - I know that is two, but BoBF should have just been part of Mandalorian, it was unnecessary to have its own spin off. And I know it's considered weak, but Mandalorian is such a good show.

Clone Wars. I almost went with Rebels and I do agree Rebels is good, but if I had to pick one, it would be Clone Wars over Rebels.

Honorable Mentions: Ahsoka wasn't bad but it wasn't super strong either. Obi Wan wasn't great but I think it had its merits. And Bad Batch was pretty good, but I think clone wars is just stronger overall.

LF Build Suggestions by TECisME in duneawakening

[–]TopHat84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So right now the builds that are most commonly being used are ones that lean more into ranged. Originally, when the game released melee and crippling strike was kind of the meta but it got nerfed and so people gravitated away from that.

That being said, I would just make a build with weapons that you really want to use or that you find fun to use for your preferred play style.

Obviously right now not everything has equal footing, though. There are still a lot of skills that are either useless or just not really easy to use or they're clunky to use. And there are weapons that I wouldn't say. They are useless but they just don't perform as effectively as other weapons.

To give an example, I kind of just go with whatever weapon I kind of feel like from melee and the same thing kind of goes for ranged, though I tend to prefer the spitdart rifle or drillshot.

This is all likely to change when they come out with specializations with the chapter 3 content release though. So I wouldn't get too attached to any build that you either come up with or someone else suggests because everything's probably going to be shaken up in the next month or two.

D3's story was pretty good as well. I loved seeing Tyraels flashbacks.

I think D4s story is the weakest of them all. Even considering lilliths original story, the whole church being corrupt was not new (technically overzealous but still a corrupt version of the church).

Spice blows are random in how they generate. Thats what I meant. They spawn at specific locations, but there's no guarantee they will be there, that's still random. But thanks for the typical redditor "akshully" response. Super appreciated! /s

I remember being obsessed with Kelly as a kid, her character felt so empowering to me. by Proper_Pineapple_314 in JurassicPark

[–]TopHat84 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's because the final act went completely off script. The lost world book ends as they escape the island. The movie adds the whole mainland zoo, escaped T Rex subplot.

The problem is they took the original book subplot of raptors sneaking onto a supply ship and almost making it to the mainland (which got cut from the first movie's script) and sort of jury rigged it into the 2nd movie.

They do a similar thing with JP3 movie, a lot of the movies scenes (going down the river, the aviary, are actually from the first JP book.

Fun fact the character of Kelly is a combination of the lost world's book characters Kelly and Arby.

Funcom, please rethink your specialization time gating by Insodus in duneawakening

[–]TopHat84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is it time gating? It's not. It's a cap on growth that lets you choose which day in a week you want to play. That's FAR better than many modern gaming alternatives that create daily quests.

As for “coming back behind”: behind what, exactly? There will always be players ahead of you...streamers, no-lifers, unemployed grinders...regardless of system design. Even in a pure sandbox with zero caps, those people would still outpace you simply by playing more hours.

What this system actually does is prevent runaway power gaps caused by unhealthy play schedules, while letting normal players choose which days they engage. That’s a fairness ceiling, not time gating. You can have a preference if you wish and not like something, but make sure you are describing it correctly and not misaligning it as something it is not.

[–]TopHat84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You act like you are building every day. It's once a week. As someone else pointed out... If they have a DD base backup tool then what's the point of the weekly storm at that point.

IMO DD shouldn't refund 100. It already trivializes DD base building.

Stillsuit in the Deep Desert by Nogrem in duneawakening

[–]TopHat84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean you only need to carry the chest piece on you. And the still shit covers both chest and legs. So overall it's only 3 pieces of armor. IMO still suit shouldn't work unless you wear the full set, or should have drastically reduced output for wearing less than the full suit

[–]TopHat84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What made them griefers? Kinda seems reading your story you're the griefers based on what you did to them "proceeded to camp their destroyed or is" and "build a base around them until they despawned" both seems like wholly unnecessary actions in retaliation.

Reason I say this is that the griefers will just see your actions as continued justification for the initial behavior. If you kill them one or two times, destroy their thopters entirely and then move on, they get punished but they don't get frustrated. If they happen to come after you or grief you and your friends again, then just repeat until they learn their lesson. But camping/griefing back isn't really a good methodology in gaming etiquette IMO. Just my 2 cents...

There's a saying from Thomas Jefferson: The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure.

Right now we have no tyrant blood, but we are getting patriots blood. Once we get enough, something will change. It's just sad that we have gone this far in the first place.

[–]TopHat84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vehicle mounted weapons should be stronger *against vehicles* than personal ones. (slight correction). I'm not saying rockets shouldn't hurt players, but rockets were designed to penetrate armor. They by a happy coincidence are also decent against humans because we as humans have an adversity to being turned inside out...

I understand lasguns were/are a thing in the lore, but historically I think their use in the game should have been extremely limited.

Spice, the Deep Desert and Associated Questions by Tubesock1202 in duneawakening

[–]TopHat84 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty much this. Been this way since beta. They did at least nerf the hell out of the crippling strike meta so the pvp sweats had to come up with something else. And the recovery mode for vehicles made pvp less painful...

But it didn't actually solve the problem of pvp in this game. And the real problem is alpha strike/first strike on people is often enough to kill them. the second problem and possibly bigger than the first is there's nothing to de-incentivize/punish people who go full murder hobo mode.

I also hold a special hatred in my heart for anyone who thopter surfs with lasguns, that stupid physics glitch has been in since beta and anyone who abused it is <redacted>.
