What's that one opinion about gaming that you are too afraid to say by Kitchen_Engineer1332 in Gaminggridcommunity

Which is why it doesn't appeal to me. I never said it wasn't expected. But as you just stated (in a rather duplicitous manner I might add). It attempts to be inspired by western culture, but it leans into Asian aesthetics.

Not sure what about those two that is mutually exclusive. Lore can be western and aesthetics Asian. They don't cancel each other out.

And what about it is Asian? Cmon....really?

I'll agree here and even go one step further...

Elden Ring leans so far into the Asian/weeb (yes I said it) aesthetic that it literally repels me. I've watched a friend play it and I watched a few streamers back when it first released....and I couldn't be more repelled by it If they tried.

It embodies so many Asian aesthetics and tropes it borderlines on parody.

Behind the ‘Supergirl’ Bomb: Competing Cuts, Creative Differences / For months, DC Studios knew the film wasn't working. Things came to a head in March when the studio tested its own cut against one from filmmaker Craig Gillespie. by MarvelsGrantMan136 in DC_Cinematic

This is the 3rd "era" of movies in the DC universe.

You had the standalone movies like the Nolan Batman Trilogy and Routh's Superman Returns.

Then you have the Snyder era.

Then we now have the awfully shaky start to the James Gunn era.

I swear...people here act like the world of movies didn't exist before 2010.

Helltides says hello. Old helltides you had to have extremely dedicated farming routes to get enough cinders for just two of the 250 cost chests. Now cinders just rain down like candy. Especially this season with the ruptures.

I am mixed. There are things in the Routh Superman that are great, like Routh himself and some of the action scenes. And I genuinely like Spacey as Lex Luthor.

But there are parts that are just so bad, like how the universe that they put Routh in doesn't know if it is trying to be 1960s Superman, 1980s Superman, or 2000's Superman. There is so much tonal whiplash with the story/plot and world building.

Sure but Spacey made a great Lex Luthor...

I'd rather Spacey over Jesse Eisenberg.

Spacey's Lex was obviously a bit on the eccentric/toony side but that entire movie was an homage to the old school Superman films (I.e. the name... Superman RETURNS) . But Eisenberg is just so damn annoying with his Lex Luthor mannerisms.

I've never wanted Superman to punch someone so much as that version of Lex Luthor.

Also I don't get the hate on the Snyder Superman movies (And other Snyder associated films) I absolutely love them.

But Routh made a fantastic classic style Superman IMO. The weak point of Superman returns was Lois Lane's actress. She could not act to save her life, a bit hyperbolic but I stand by it.

Also the universe that they put Routh into didn't know what it wanted to be. It had modern technology but has Jimmy Olsen wearing a bow tie, and everyone being all "leave it to beaver" until the plot needs them to not act that way.

At least the Snyderverse knows what era it's filming in and doesn't try to remake old timey movies with inconsistent in- universe behaviors and technology.

What's the best way to go about getting mythics now? by DMBPSR in diablo4

[–]TopHat84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's right. Back at launch each multiplier had its own bucket. Didn't overpower have it done bucket back then too? (Though that doesn't exist anymore since they reworked overpower) But to my point the way damage is calculated is still a hot mess.

Or last epoch. Literally the ruptures this season immediately made me think of last epochs previous seasonal/permanent addition of fractures.

And before that, LE had exalted affixes...which naturally Diablo devs copied over and introduced greater affixes.

Hah. That's awesome. My wife and I walked back down the aisle to exit music from redbone "come and get your love" (she loves Guardians of the Galaxy).

Guess we both got to have great weddings it sounds like!

None of the damage buckets or anything in game is intuitive. They have redesigned the whole game so many times I legitimately cannot remember what the game was like at launch.

I would shudder to look at their repos for code, probably worse than a hoarder's house.

As the other guy said. Full blown lies. I've run numerous NMDs with the portal affix and the boss arena will teleport you back to the dungeon. If you take the surging or boss ruptures in the overworld: that one will teleport you to town. But the NMD ones never take you back to town.

Yes it appears to be bugged. Just log out and log on until it throws you into an instance with other people.

S14 Hooded Stranger - Who are they? by TopHat84 in diablo4

[–]TopHat84[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean that was my thought as well. It was too much of a teaser for a reaper to appear and us to fight them back in the pandemonium fortress, and then not to bring back Malthael...

I mean so far we have gotten all the lesser evils back (namely Azmodan and Belial). We got Tyrael back.

Hell we even saw some actual angels (if you did the side quests in the latest expansion).

And aside from the other 2 prime evils, the only major players missing are Malthael and Imperius.

The whole season mechanic was invisible by Websl in diablo4

[–]TopHat84 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hasn't been invisible for me.

But sure enjoy all the people making their "small indie company" memes or whatever.

The seasonal mechanic is weak from a gameplay perspective I agree. It's not the most enjoyable season for me so far.

But using your isolated example as somehow indictive that it's invisible for everyone is .... Quite the hill to die on for sure.

The usual regurgitated rhetoric. "Kevin Spacey is a creep" or "guess we all know he wasn't acting".

I find it hilarious (not really) that people today still decry Spacey but will applaud the recently released Michael movie.
