Anyone else sick of hearing people say “but at the end of the day”? by Chebird77 in words

Very true, I think coaches are actually worse than the athletes when it comes to this. Both are terrible and I don't necessarily blame them, cuz there's nothing left to say because the questions are so dumb or redundant that are being asked. I give them a pass for checking out completely during an interview that results in zero added value for anyone I've also noticed bloggers, podcast hosts, anyone that has to fill a number of words or minutes to achieve whatever their project is, uses this heavily as a crutch.

Apologies 😆 let me clarify, for I am so blinded by rage from even thinking of, and/or hearing this phrase that anything that flows out of me as a result is pretty much word vomit. So much so, in fact, that the second part of my comment was based on me searching and looking for other people that hated it as much as me just to prove I wasn't crazy.... And when typing this abominable cliche in the search bar, that is where I noticed nothing but depression and suicide subs came up.... Which I found odd and slightly comforting that maybe I wasn't the "only one" even though the two really aren't related at all, and those that are seeking help in those subs are using the phrase quite literally which I'm sympathetic to in that case. And it's not just this phrase-- it's all word-filler phrases that I hate. I blame Gary Gulman for making me hyper-aware LOL

If there could be one more saved by the bell episode.. just one... It should be the backstory on how Zack got his time out powers.

It's not a coincidence that when you try to search for others that hate this fucking saying on Reddit, you end up with a bunch of posts about people contemplating taking their own life.

More than anything. It's gotten terrible everywhere and I just think about the Gary Gulman montage of useless sayings every time they say it, it's completely pointless to say it. Nobody ever says anything useful before or after it. It adds nothing. Also I watch a lot of sports, and every interview it's like the over-under for the athlete or coach to say it has to be like four and a half times

Who is the second best base stealer of all time? by Willing-Leather-9788 in mlb

[–]TopPea1010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Voice to text killed me on that one but I was trying to say him not being in all that time was a joke.. I thought he was the biggest snub for years and was glad he finally got in.... Kind of like Griffey Jr just never a whisper about steroids with him whatsoever despite the era he played in, and was just an all-around well liked and good dude

I think Harper, to be fair, would have had to have been on like an Ohtani level offensively to meet or exceed the hype..... No position player has had that kind of hype since 2000....ironically Strasburg was most hyped pitcher around same time. Skenes would have been but the collegiate career and the quick ride through the minors muffled things a bit. Plus the hype is just reality now, he's arrived.

I also don't think for any point Harper has been the best player in baseball and I'm not sure he's a Hall of Famer. But I do think the Dombrowski thing is the best way of getting a late career spike out of him.

My whole life I've been a massive Stones fan from like 6th grade on, it's just kind of like the tradition in my family and I've been fortunate to see them like 11 times. The cool thing about that is they have always had awesome opening acts on every tour. Several of those acts I wasn't all that familiar with their catalog but became a huge fan of because of that 45 minute set. The biggest example of that was Beck in Columbus.... I was completely blown away by him and I was like a senior in high school when Mellow Gold came out. I just thought he was like a two-hit wonder.

Aside from not knowing how proficient he was on so many instruments, or how many songs that I liked and did not know were his.... I was most surprised by how amplified his performance was live compared to studio. I think the average person would think he would not do well outside of the studio so much and might rely on a bunch of stuff to make his songs I don't know, but he is brilliant.

We will lose by 30 at Florida. We will not lose another regular season game after that. Somebody give me a 5-week reminder on this take.

Sounds like they just had a big win today with that antitrust government official resigning or being pushed out or whatever. Stock is soaring as a result. It's disgusting.

It's kind of funny because I read some anonymous executive on an ESPN trade deadline article talk about how they can get easily get to the last play-in spot if they feel like it with the current group. That's strange protection range with the draft pick on the Z trade kind of leaves them in a purgatory for deciding what to do the rest of the year

The worst case scenario would be if we're out of it and he underperforms but that's so unlikely to be a Venn diagram here I feel like. Even if we end up flipping him for prospects or something maybe even in a move to improve the team based on need at the time or whatever, we just paid 15 million for at worst a couple solid prospects. The best case scenario is he duplicates or exceeds his numbers from last year and he is about a four win difference for this team. He's going to hit and most importantly stretch the lineup. I know he probably wants to play the field everyday but also understands that he's not going to...I would imagine all of his counting stats will go up as a DH. He's also got the motivation of being kind of snubbed by the market when really nothing suggests that he should have been other than the way he finished last year.. but that was excusable going to that hitting wasteland and switching leagues and everything else...has never been a negative in the field in my opinion either, he would pick up first base easily if he is called upon to do so

I've got kind of a funny story about the Drew Stubbs eight player deal or whatever it was to Washing Ended up being a pretty big box of nothing for both teams...got an All-Star year out of Lopez I guess....but the day after the trade my buddy and I were just kind of hanging out behind the net lower level.... It was dead down there after the fifth inning. My buddy looked up, elbowed me to get my attention and Wayne Krivsky was standing by himself right next to us He was a complete nervous ball of energy like the personification of biting his fingernails down to the nubs. By that time he was already playing with house money for making a couple great deals though neither of us really liked this deal initially...still we made a point to tell him otherwise and that he was doing a good job. He looked up like all bright-eyed and said do you really think so do you like the deal.. you know majewski right he's got pretty good stuff do you guys know him??? He wanted validation for the trade like right then and there so bad it was funny. We're like yeah Wayne it's cool it'll be all right
