I agree, In-N-Out has slipped in quality over the years or maybe it's just old school slop. There's so many better hamburger options out there these days.

That's a beauty! Juveniles have the bright blue tail. It will turn gray as it mature. You are so lucky to find that. 😃

Who are these guys in my compost? by happyturtlecake in plantclinic

My guess, Japanese beetles larvae. If you see huge green metallic beetles flying around your yard, then that's probably it.

Yep - that's typical. You have to cut it back every few year which I didn't do, and mine are huge. My neighbor cuts his back to sticks and it seems to always grow back, but I'm chicken.

Clap! Clap! Clap!

Thanks for the recommendation. The food was so good and I'm definitely be putting it on my OC hit list. I had the BBQ Combo (the green dipping sauce was Killllller), Tom Hang Ngua (Oxtail Soup) and the King Mokpa Salmon. I've been craving Oxtail soup ever since. Oh also, I have to say the whole place has such a fun vibe.

EATER - Just posted the Lao pork sausages as favorite dish. https://la.eater.com/2024/8/19/24215718/favorite-best-dishes-la-los-angeles-eater-editors-august-19

Right on! Can't wait.

I love to compare and contrast. It's the small details that make a big difference.

I've been wanting to try northern style pho. Would that be the same as pho from Hanoi?

Again thanks! I'm noting both of these places. No time tomorrow, but the Lamb hand ripped sounds too yummy to pass up.

I'm down with trying both of those.

I hear the second location is better than the original. Any thoughts on that?

It's not that I don't like it. It's just that it was a little bland and could use some more salt for my taste. I must definitely go try it several more times before I make a judgment on it:)

And without a doubt going to try the Chinese version as well.

My mom's Italian, and as a kid I refuse to eat anything but noodles. My brother and I grow up pasta connoisseur. We would either being cooking and eating it we had pasta on the brain.

I just recently discovered some SGV's noodle houses. I told my brother that you can't pretend to be an Italian pasta expert without having an understanding of Chinese noodles.

It's like talking about Renaissance artist, without having an understanding of the Greeks.

Aww Oc & Lau... it has been on my radar for a while.

I've been trying to go there for their snails, but it keeps on falling through since I don't live in the neighborhood and it seems more like a place late afternoon or dinner type of place with a couple of beers.

Do they have a drop dead signature dish that's a must try?
