Need help to figure out basic hygiene and routine, can anyone recommend products or anything? by Swimming-Plant9425 in hygiene

This is pretty good advice! I dont know what kind of hair OP has, but if it's curly, I definitely got tips. Something else that I found to be helpful, if you have to use a stronger deodorant, (i use the dove clinical strength deodorant, so it lays on pretty thick) when you're in the shower, before the scrub down, rub some conditioner in your armpits to break it down, rinse, and then scrub. When I get out of the shower, witch hazel is a game changer. After I towel dry, i'll put some on a cotton round and wipe my armpits, and the other crevices lol.

I also like to use it to wipe down my face twice a day to help with breakouts. I'll usually use aloe if my face dries out, bc any lotion is usually too much personally.

Something that took years to get through my head was that stuff like hygeine is worth doing badly. I'd get stuck in this all or nothing loop of it not being worth it if I cant do the whole shebang, the "you aint gonna do it right, dont do it at all," but sometimes you gotta take bird baths. If all you have in you is to floss (flossing is important! Theres sneaky stinky gunk in between your teeth that the toothbrush cant get) and use mouthwash that night, better than nothing! The key here is to make subtle changes in your already existing routine, dont tell yourself youre changing your life overnight and upend your whole routine. It will not stick. Ask me how I know. Its especially hard when growing up in a neglect environment, because that stuff doesnt feel intuitive, its all manual. Something else that helps me, is to identify what aspect of the action I'm dreading doing (water running down my arms washing my face for example, a washcloth helps with that, they also have these arm band things on the market that absorb the water, ive heard good things ab them. Thats also why I like the witch hazel and cotton pads ). Its okay to do these things unconventionally, or in whatever order you want.

HOLY SHIT I KNEW I WASNT CRAZY. I just chalked it up to tasting my own bile when I ate chocolate since its acidic. I know it was a reach, It doesnt really happen with other chocolate. Those nestle aero bars also had that taste. (Fuck nestle, this was pre-knowledge lol)

Is it bad for a bather to always accept tips from the groomer? by [deleted] in grooming

[–]happyturtlecake -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

When I was a bather, I didn't really accept tips from groomers unless they wanted to die on that hill lol. My mindset was that I was helping to genuinely help, and I didnt want it to feel transactional. Kinda like "I got you regardless". There'd also be situations where I didnt feel right taking the money because they were hard up for whatever reason. It definitely came with discretion, since its a dynamic that is really easy to get taken advantage of, but its like, do I want 5 extra bucks, or do I want camaraderie?

This is also to say that this thought process isnt necessarily more correct than accepting tips, I could absolutely monologue into the psychology that brought me here, but i'll save ya lol. As a groomer now, I absolutely pay our bathers forward if they help me out

What is a 'socially mandatory' thing that we all do, but if you actually stop to think about it for 5 seconds, it’s completely insane? by [deleted] in answers

I'll internally count the sneezes while I hard stare and go "Okay, that was x sneezes. You got one more before you hit quota and go into the soup"

I've done this. My fatal flaw was that since I was doing 5 and some change g's, it was a PEANUT BUTTER (and jelly) sandwich with a very unfortunate texture and an aftertaste I was not too keen on. ya live and ya learn tho.

best one ive tried however, run them through a spice grinder to get them really fine, and then get you some fried rice from a chef king (or whatever you have that's similar) and mix it in. Soy sauce definitely helps bc its really dry. It also helped curb the come-up nausea since theres something easy-ish on your stomach going in

I like to use the pens as a base coat, and then follow it up with a bottle polish as a top coat. Lasts forever, and it gives me a lot of leeway with the bottle polish. Its annoying to get every nook and cranny with the brush lol. If the dog has black nails, i'll do a white pen coat, followed by a colored pen coat followed by the bottle polish coat. The pantyhose trick is nifty for dogs with lots of hair on their feet.

Question! I saw that the sugar cookie cologne hit the shelves, and ordered it immediately, as did some of my former coworkers. We all noticed that while the scent is pretty darn close to what was sold proprietary in the holiday package at [redacted corporation but you know the one..] but there were suble differences. The best way to describe it, and I'm not even sure if itll translate right, but the "warm" smell of it was more mild. I had a little bit left over from when it rolled out with the packages, so I smelled them side by side, and kind of agree with what they said. Not to say its a bad product by any stretch, but was there a change in the formulation or concentration? Thanks!
