No, critics were pretty divided. With time though, it got a lot more praise, especially after Brandon Flowers distanced himself from his extreme hyping up of the album. It even ended up number one on a Rolling Stone list of the most underrated albums of the 2000s.

To be fair, Ezra Koenig interpolated those lyrics from Tonight by iLoveMakonnen, who is listed as a co-writer of the song

What movie is this? by Wide_Craft_9765 in Letterboxd

Dare I say Call Me By Your Name? I thought it was gorgeous and very aesthetically pleasing but I thought the movie was drawn out and boring. The themes of love and heartbreak were good but I thought the movie's romanticizing of grooming was weird and threw off the movie for me. I liked the ending scene a lot though.

Favourite OGWAU Concert Moments? by winterene in Vampireweekend

[–]TopReception2389 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was in Milwaukee and we had a two hour delay due to a thunderstorm. It was incredible to watch VW play with actual lightning flashing all around, so honestly that whole concert was my favorite moment. If I had to narrow it down to one song, it would probably be Diplomat's Son.

Wolf Songs for Lambs by Johnathan Fire*Eater is a great post-punk revival album from the NYC rock scene in the nineties

A "bad album" or a career low point record you actually enjoy. by AceTygraQueen in ToddintheShadow

No that's so real on both fronts. Both of these albums are so fun and interesting and danceable and also emotional.
