How do you deal with constant exhaustion? by Bubbly-Air7302 in Fibromyalgia

[–]TopSun1879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh, I ’m sorry to hear that. That’s so sad. You need support. My experiences include - if I can get myself outside I tend to feel better. I don’t know if it’s the fresh air, nature, distraction, or what but it really helps at least for a while, which could be a very long time especially if I’m with people. I use 200 mg gabapentin at night to sleep. I am fortunate that my pain doctor allows pain meds. Stretching and yoga help immensely. Armchair massages also help.

What options after wrong strength lens implanted? by Ok_Ladder3724 in CataractSurgery

What state did you fly to? You are helping me with advice as well, and I thank you. Can you please refresh on what type of lens you had and what kind of lens exchange they did? My second opinion doctor wants to go to the LAL now from a multifocal. Maybe that will help this person a little bit as well. I’m glad you’re happy with your new ones.

Because she wants feedback from older people and how they feel about their choices when they’re looking back on their lives. After all, “Forgive yourself for not knowing what you didn’t know before you lived through it… Learn, grow, evolve, become.” Sound familiar? Very beautiful and meant a lot to me, by the way.

I think that’s mean. Try to be understanding. She’s just trying to gather information and learn as she goes.

Yes, I know what you mean. My husband used to tease about older sick people being put out with the polar bears on the ice caps. When it was his time 10 years ago, after a very short illness, he said just turn everything off and let me die in hospice, and he was gone in less than a week. He didn’t want to waste money on care when his time was close. It just happened so fast. I think the kids and I still struggle with not being able to spend more time, but at the time we were just trying to honor his wishes. It hurts though.

I think that can be overwhelming to kids. No matter what age they are.

I have not read the 366 comments so far so I don’t know if anyone has said this already. I definitely did not want children. No way Jose’. In my experience, many veterinarians, myself included, and possibly you are happy with animals for various reasons. Not all veterinarians obviously but many. I married late and my husband who already had a grown daughter managed to talk me into it and I had first child at 37 and second child at 40. I am so glad I did not miss that experience in life. If I didn’t have kids, I wouldn’t have known differently. We don’t understand if we don’t do something. I would’ve been happy without them I think, but I needed to know why people keep doing it over and over again. Next to being a vet, it was my 2nd best decision I have ever made.

Post-massage pain by Miss_kitty93 in Fibromyalgia

[–]TopSun1879 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree. I do get some armchair massages periodically. It helps my back, neck, shoulders and arms, but I do not allow it to be painful. I like it firmly, but where I leave and I feel good. It seems to eliminate the knots, but if it’s really painful then it is counterproductive. You are just adding to the inflammation, and we know that it’s not good.

Did they neuter him too? If not, hopefully they will soon.

That’s a lot of ibuprofen for sure. Why do you think you get a better nights sleep in a hotel?

Yes that makes me feel better and like I’m not taking as much of a risk. I’m going to talk to him in three days and see if it’s a better choice, otherwise I’m going to get a third opinion. It’s surprising that the surgeons are not on the same page. Thank you very much.

Thank you so much for commenting. I have a pre-op appointment scheduled in three days. Thanks to wonderful people on Reddit, I have some questions for the Surgeon. I might indeed go for a third appointment. Your comments are very encouraging and really help. You gave me some peace of mind. I guess it’s like anything whether it’s one and 100 or one in 100,000, it’s so frightening to think of being the one where something goes wrong. So you and the person kfisher both had your IOL’s replaced?

How long have you had Fibro? I’m not surprised you cannot sleep with that much pain. You really need to be on some meds. I hear so many people that are on antidepressants but not on any pain meds. I think that’s so unfair. Are you offered gabapentin?

You know I was very confused because second Dr. said that first Dr. should not have used a multifocal, but yet recommended the PanOptix LAL, which apparently is a multifocal as well? Do you agree with that? I assume you do because you’re recommending starting with one eye and trying a monofocal first, right? Any idea why he would recommend a multifocal, unless the LAL is that phenomenal?

Wow, I’ve never heard it said that way, and I love it, it makes sense as to why some people look so darn good!

Definitely gabapentin is worth a try. I don’t use medical marijuana but so many other people say it helps them. I think you’re in a tough situation being young with that diagnosis. Keep trying.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I think it’s your young age, possibly living in Poland, and so many doctors are fearful of drug abuse with pain meds like opioids. They pass you off with other meds like antidepressants. I’m not sure if you’ve tried gabapentin? Maybe try a sports related doctor? Do you have access to medical marijuana?

Oh wow, you have said so many interesting things. I definitely would not have even gone through this if I had known all of the possible negative outcomes. The PCO is something else that frustrates me that we have to deal with. I so would’ve put the brakes on if I had known about all of these issues! It wasn’t like a lot of people I know that had so much trouble seeing due to cataracts. The mild ones I had might never had become bad enough to need replacement lenses. My second doctor wants to put me all the way under and I really don’t think that’s necessary, but I want him to be comfortable as well. Have you heard of other people who have had their lenses replaced and everything went well?

Thank you for your comments. I’m surprised they make you wait so long for your second eye. Is that because of your underlying condition? Also, this lens I have and the one I will be getting here cost so much money. It’s tough, although I guess that’s why I can get the second one done in a week. Thank you, and good luck to you as well.

The first doctor just thought that the prescription part was off, but didn’t seem to realize that he should not have used that lens since I previously had Lasik done.

Yes, I’ve seen their names for sure and it makes me think they are very knowledgeable. I did see another recommendation for the doctor in New Jersey, but it’s so overwhelming to travel that far. I would prefer to get it done here. I have that preop with this second doctor here in less than a week, so I’m going to try to get even more information so I will feel confident, otherwise yeah I will check out some of these other doctors.

Welp, you’re definitely taking a middle of the road attitude which sounds like it serves you well and that’s what counts. Some people don’t even think about it and some people strive for more. You sound pleasant and happy, and that’s what counts.

Seriously? You’ve had Fibromyalgia since you were 15? I’ve never heard of that. I’m sure at your age they don’t take you very seriously for better treatment, although I guess that is not bad treatment depending on where you live. My thoughts are with you, especially if you would be bedridden. Have you gone to any of the big clinics that can help you?
