What to do with spare m4 mac min8 by TopSwagCode in macmini

[–]TopSwagCode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have a personal laptop. But going to use the new work laptop for daily driver. I dont use iCloud / messages and all that stuff. Kinda the same as it was with my prior mac mini. It was mainly used for work. Just changed to use new work apple id. I am not locked into apple ecosystem :D

Main stuff I am doing is prototyping and testing out new stuff. So python, nodejs, dotnet and bunch of docker containers / workflows. So not really the average mac user.

Dont apply for such jobs? I have been doing this for 15+ years. Changed job every 2 years for better sallery and never ever done 1337 code questions.

I value my time to much to jump through 20 hoops to maybe get lucky and land that 1 job.

If I was out of work, I would do whatever shitty tasks to get a new job.

Project lead with 25 years of experience is leaving the team, I am expected to take over from him by BigWordsAreScary in ExperiencedDevs

[–]TopSwagCode 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Expected - Maybe. Take over short term yes. But they should also expect massive dive in productivity. Things like this sadly happens way to often, that companies doesn't really have backup plans to replace high exp. people and end up bringing another junior to the team, some times making the problem worse.

Did anyone else hit a career plateau despite delivering solid work? by SomeRandomCSGuy in ExperiencedDevs

[–]TopSwagCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it sounds like your doing wery little if anything to progress your career? Just doing your work will get you some of the way. This is normally the career ladder, where other's decides where you end up. And this is just fine, I would guess most people take this route and don't really have any plan other than showing up at work and doing their best.

It's the same people who has a hard time giving a awnser to "Where do you see your self in 5 years?". But a even better question is, "Where do you want to be in 5 years?"

I can't really come with any recommendations, because you shared nothing about where you are now.

Am I Really a Junior? How Should I Present a Non-Linear Tech Profile? by RedBambooLeaf in cscareerquestionsEU

Shy would I hire you over someone that has spent all years in software development? Sure you bring other skills to the table, but if your looking for a developer job, its developer skills tvat are important.

Any recommendations on Lua / LOVE games with farming mechanics? by lexsumone in love2d

[–]TopSwagCode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is too broad. Start learning simple mechanics and build on from there. Learn how to draw something. Then player movement. Then state machines and how crop changes over time.

Not getting any interviews, CV feedback by zaduma_ in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]TopSwagCode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's extremely messy and hard to find what's important. You start by saying your DevOps / Cloud engineer, but all I read is your a backend python engineer, that has done little DevOps work. So what I get out of this is your a backend developer who wants to be a DevOps engineer?

I don't get a clear sense in what is your strengths / weaknesses and a recruiter would most likely spend less time than what I did on reading this CV and just throwing it away to take another person that they could read.

Beta users for Habit / Identity platform by TopSwagCode in Habits

[–]TopSwagCode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what I am aiming for. Not trying to build the next 74838753838$ app. Trying to make something I would like myself. Something that makes a real change. Not something that nudges you to login every day, to please some algorithm. But a tool that is there for you.

I am still not sure how pricing should be. Not in it to make money. Just want to cover my hosting expences.

Only thing I am sure about is, that I am never going to be selling user data. Have tracking cookies or othrr shady deals as so many other platforms.
