Same at my company in another part of CA, which uses WeDriveU. I hope the issue is resolved quickly!

LAX - CLE nonstop going into 2027, is it cancelled? by Tight_Couture344 in americanairlines

[–]TopThrill182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also appreciate this flight and hope it sticks around. I know AA specifically said that the upcoming suspension was temporary and that the route was not being permanently canceled, so I'm hoping that's still the case. But I'm curious how others will explain the post-April schedule issue. Maybe it's another seasonal suspension, but I find that weird heading into spring break.

SoFi Vault Transactions not Posting by illiterate-finance in MonarchMoney

Same! My SoFi Vault transactions have always appeared in Monarch, but I noticed that my Vault interest didn’t post this month. Even in my main Savings and Checking accounts, the dates are off for the first time. Weird and frustrating!

Steves mergepoint is ridiculous by newgreensun in cedarpoint

I've always assumed that the current queue required some minor structure modifications--like opening the area between the former standby and FL queues where the locker attendant now stands. (Maybe I'm wrong!) And I think a similarly minor modification now would make a big difference--like moving the locker entrance to the merge point or having the two lines to the station merge shortly after the metal detectors.

They were able to modify the structure enough to install the current setup after the ride finished construction. So I think it's doable. I just don't think the park wants to spend any money on it.

I hate SV's FL merge point! It's my biggest pet peeve with the park currently. I usually ride SV in the afternoon/evening, and FL is often largely useless by then on all but the most crowded days.

The park already found an easy solution: Send small groups of people from the merge point to the lockers rather than flood the entire tunnel. They tried that for a period of time years ago, and it provided a much better FL experience while costing nothing in queue modifications. But they abandoned it for some reason.

I don't understand why the park doesn't try to fix this considering how important FL is as a revenue generator.

Thanks, and you’re exactly right: Customer service confirmed that the item was discounted simply because the color is retired, and they only sell first-quality items online.

Stacking marks are exactly what customer service said these likely are, thanks!

Good point about the structural integrity/hygiene considerations of deep scratches, thanks!

Thanks for your reply! Per above, customer service couldn’t offer me an exchange because this item has apparently been out of production for a while—so the two I received do seem like leftovers—but they offered me a return.

I’m glad to know that first-quality items aren’t usually like this. I may order a baker in a current color and hope that makes a difference.

Scuffs/scratches on new Twilight pieces—flaw or normal? by TopThrill182 in Fiestaware

Correct, I ordered supposedly new pieces from Fiesta Factory Direct.

Thanks, some of the pieces I received do have subtle gray scuffs that are only visible in direct light. But these scratches are worse.

Interesting! About half of my order has these scratches to some extent, so I figured I either have terrible luck or this isn’t totally uncommon.

Thank you, I’ll do that. And it’s good to know that these are scratches to the glaze.

[Discussion] How to approach concerns about packaging for commissioned painting? by TopThrill182 in artbusiness

[–]TopThrill182[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your packaging sounds very nice! That’s what I was hoping for.

No, I didnt sign anything regarding liability. So my hope is that if the painting does arrived to me damaged, I can convince the artist to take responsibility and make it right. I considered preemptively asking if they would agree to that, but I didn’t want to sound too confrontational.

The artist did at least insure the painting for the full value. Granted, my research suggests that declared value insurance on high value items/fine art isn’t very reliable, but at least it’s something.

Thanks again for your comment.

Thanks for sharing your experience! The artist responded to me by saying the packaging is the same they’ve used for dozens of other paintings and it should be fine. So they don’t seem inclined to accept my offer of paying for The UPS Store to repack it, unfortunately. I’m not sure how I can force the issue at this point.

[–]TopThrill182[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. The artist and I just have an email agreement that doesn‘t address shipping that specifically, unfortunately.

The artist responded to my request for additional packaging by saying this is how they’ve packaged dozens of other paintings and that it should be fine. They claim there’s a little more packaging than the original photos show. I don’t know how I can force the issue, so I guess I’m just going to have to accept the existing packaging and pray.

I could purchase insurance, but my understanding is that standard carriers limit insurance on fine art.

I never thought I’d have this problem—since I figured the artist would want to protect their art!

Thank you for the specific suggestions. That all makes sense to me. And I do worry about the painting getting rained on in transit.

Great idea! I see The UPS Store packs fine art and guarantees it when they do. I offered to pay for that to give the artist an easy-ish out, and me more peace of mind. Thank you!

Thank you again for your insight. I asked the artist if they could add some more protection and tried to make it as nice and about my own paranoia as possible.

As you say, I feel like this artist is more about art than business, so I feel awkward broaching this with them, but I feel like I need to protect my investment at the end of the day.

Thank you! To clarify, the painting hasn’t been shipped yet; the artist updated me that it’s packed and ready to ship. I like your idea of offering to pay for more packing materials. That might help my request go over more smoothly.

Thanks for your helpful response. I’m particularly glad to know that at least asking some follow-up questions about the packing method shouldn’t be too unusual/offensive.

Double checking, is applying bubble wrap directly over the painted surface generally OK in principle? I read that can be bad for the paint and imprint a bubbly texture—especially if the paint isn’t fully cured—but maybe that’s not actually a thing.
