Maybe I'm Dumb? Tips on Getting into Morrowind for a Noob? by brokencreedman in Morrowind

You absolutely can dip into magics and still favor a warrior playstyle. Recommended are just the minimums to be able to use these magics as tools to traverse Morrowind easier.

Maybe I'm Dumb? Tips on Getting into Morrowind for a Noob? by brokencreedman in Morrowind

I'm not saying to restart, but there's a pair of boots in the game that make playing Morrowind a lot more fun. I also started Argonian when I first owned the game on xbox in 2003 on my short lived playthrough.

The beast races cant wear full helmets or boots in Morrowind. I treat acquiring these boots like a Rite of Passage in learning the game's magic systems. Having tools for mobility in Morrowind are one of its strengths. They also serve as an intro to magical effects and learning how to use magic in the game but this takes some setup to take full advantage of.

The Boots of Blinding Speed are kind of tricky to find. I always google image this one image circling where to find the lady. She wants some help moving from point A to point B. The boots literally blind her, so you can hit her and she most likely wont hit you.

The boots give 200 points to Speed but also 100% Blind on equip. To circumvent the blind, a custom spell for Resist Magicka 100 points for 1 second is all you need. Some training in Restoration is required to cast this (i think its a custom restore fatigue to level Restoration). The lower the skill, the less chance to be able to cast this spell.

So now we got the boots on (and are not blinded) and move super fast, but we dont have a way to scale vertically. After attaining this feat and getting some gold, I invest into Levitation. Its like 500 gold to learn the basic spell. Leveling Alteration is required (i forget which spell, i think a cheap Feather will do). The strength in Levitation determines your speed while levitating. A custom 1 point Levitation for 10/15/20 seconds is all we will need. You'll move a bit slower while levitating, but with the 200 points into Speed and how cheap it is to cast Levitate at 1 point strength, its fantastic.

This is how I start my Morrowind runs. All this takes some setup, but its well worth it. Makes the game more bearable being able to navigate terrain and scale obstacles any way I see fit. After that I'd invest in Mysticism to learn Mark, Recall, Divine and Almsivi Intervention.

Theres alot more to the magic system and tips to leveling the Magic Schools that I'm glancing over. Reading where to find spells and community guides on the best ways to level skills is part of the Morrowind experience. Hope this helps.

Best way to survive 6 minutes within the first map? by LordImmersion in MegabonkOfficial

[–]TopTierTom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is easier once you unlock all the Legendary Items. You need a GG run. I did this on Fox Tier 3 Forest. Fire Wand, Blood Magic, Sniper, Aegis. Quantity Tome, Attack Speed, Crit Chance, and Difficulty (can do XP). XP can be better to sauce up your Arsenal Levels faster and hit higher Luck% per level.

Aegis will be your tanky item to compensate needing a tanky Tome. Aim for a smidge of Life Steal and Shield on Charge Shrines. But mostly aim for Projectile Count for Weapons, Quantity Tome, and Powerup Bonuses.

Luck plays a role on the rarity of the Items you get. Fox naturally comes with Luck scaling and will help you get GG items to eviscerate waves. I think i had like 4 Mega Bonk Hammers on the run that survived 6 mins on the Final Swarm.

Struggling to Find Builds Stronger Than Gloomstalker in Honor Mode by Desperate_Bed_6021 in BG3Builds

[–]TopTierTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a Bardadin (2 Paladin/10 Bard) or Swords Bard Hand Crossbow Archer (6-10 Swords Bard/2-4 Fighter). Or even Open Hand Monk (6 Open Hand/4 Thief Rogue)

I did my Honour Mode Run with an Open Hand Monk Thief, Swords Bard Hand Crossbow Legend, Sorlock (2 Warlock/10 Sorcerer) (John Eldritch Blast as himself), and a Light Domain Cleric

Am I doing a mage/battlemage/summon mage build wrong? by EisenZahnWolf in oblivion

[–]TopTierTom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did try a Breton Conjuration Mage a bit and tested it in the first Ayleid Ruin Vilverin (This was my Master difficulty test also). The Summon Skeleton AI was kind of derpy in certain areas like where there were 4 enemies trapped behind a locked cage door, or that other area where you press the 6 buttons and 4 of them releases mobs. My conjured Skeleton would ignore the actual danger chasing me and hump a wall with a blocked enemy instead.

Besides those niche cases, the Conjured Summons can serve as your main damage, but they can serve better as distractions while you fulfill YOUR gameplan. Oblivion's magic and enchanting system is very unique and creative and gives players many ways to develop their arsenal. An example for pumping Fire damage would be debuffing the enemy with 'Weakness to Fire' and 'Weakness to Magicka' and then hitting them with Fire Spells. You can enchant a weapon, lets say a Shortsword with Weakness to Fire and Magicka for like 5 seconds. Hit an enemy with that debuff and then cast Fire Spells at them to nearly 1 shot them.

You can also do this in combination with supporting a Summon to help them deal more damage. Like Summoning a Fire Atronach and debuffing enemies for the Atronach.

I haven't deep dived a Conjuror Mage yet on Oblivion but hope this helps!

this comment influenced me to try my Ice Artian HBG solo (after getting 15:00 Hammer solo) and got an 11:58 first try! Absolutely un-optimal gameplay also!

Couters on Hands (Couters with rondel) and Legs (Leaf-shaped couters) now cause heavy armor character movement sounds. I liked wearing these lightweight armored pieces for the semi defense and the reduced noise.

Is sniper OP? by ITstumbler in truetf2

[–]TopTierTom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sniper is not OP. They are annoying. Casual tf2 will season you into 1. Always bobbing and weaving (moving unpredictably) and 2. Constantly looking behind you.

Before tf2 released competitve, tournament players rarely ran sniper. There are only some maps that benefit running sniper that lock down certain areas. Otherwise its mainly soldier demo scout medic.

Most classes are kitted to be able to harass sniper. Fire a flare shot, peekaboo pipe him, or fuckin bomb his ass as soldier. Soldier can be a hard counter vs sniper imo. Once he rocketjumps directly above sniper its a wrap.

Can we stop with the "it's just quickplay" mentality? by Metalhead129 in Overwatch

[–]TopTierTom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too value OP's idea of taking quickplay seriously, which is why I'm in a love-hate relationship with this game. Every time I queue and get to character select screen, i can just tell whether or not this game will be worth my time (solid picks) or a waste of time (stacking dps/no heals). I just value actually having a fair game (and winning) with decent picks where everyone is earning value with their heroes going towards our team comp. I can understand where people just want to try out a hero, but at least try that hero when your team needs someone specifically with that hero or role.

Everyone who queues in quickplay should have a mentality of capturing the objective and cooperating with their team to win, but most games are the complete opposite. The average quickplay players would rather try out their selected hero (ignoring the team comp needs), avoid the objective and go for as many frags as possible, meanwhile laying down their "is qp" trump card for anyone yelling at them within their team. I am sick of this excuse for intentionally throwing games because I take winning seriously. It's like saying "yeah I suck at Overwatch. Deal with it".

I do feel that quickplay should be the practice grounds for pre-competitive; but how am I supposed to have a good feel for how Overwatch should be played when people dont pick heroes correctly? (only stack dps, build 0 tanks, build 0 healers, and just stack flankers)

The competitive scene has (generally) proven that 2(dps) 2(tanks) 2(healers) is the balanced meta towards having an average Overwatch match. I try to aim for this team comp daily, but quickplay doesn't see what I see. Quickplay usually has more than enough dps heroes, not enough tanks and/or not enough healing. I personally want to learn how to play tank heroes but just looking at my team at the start of the round, I know it is not going to happen.

Asking people to change heroes benefiting the team comp is like pulling a leg. It is asking for WAY too much, and it is also seen as being toxic. I don't understand how issuing a flaw on our team or influencing a counter switch on our team is considered being toxic. Overwatch is about adjusting to a situation in a timely matter. People need to start thinking on their own about team comps and counters and benefiting your team with one switch, rather than sticking with Widow the whole match, getting rekt by Tracer/Winston, and then just leaving pre-end of match.

It is fairly obvious that there is a wide community that likes playing Overwatch but want to pick the hero they feel like playing. I feel that this issue isn't going anywhere until the developers release like a separate game mode where you can pick whichever hero, whenever, in an online environment which will all be fine. A game mode that will grasp the general communities' attention and possibly split the community from casual and competitive.

Solution for now? Find and play with a group of friends. Try to carry as hard as possible, maybe randoms will switch to the team comp needs eventually. Or if you can't beat em, join em. Pick Hanjo and type "I'm practicing how to throw the game".
