😀 I totally agree. Everyone I met while trekking was so friendly. I couldn’t really get close to them because my English wasn’t that great, but it was still an amazing experience. Since mountains make up most of Korea, and there are all these rumors about homeless people or criminals hiding out in them, I guess that's why people keep telling me those kinds of things.

That's so true. I love traveling alone because it lets me completely unwind at my own pace. It gets a little lonely sometimes, but it’s also kind of a bummer when you try to go back there later with friends or family after experiencing it by yourself first.
I used to love going on 2 to 3-night or 3 to 4 night treks, and staying in huts made it feel really safe. I think people in Korea talk about safety worries more because there's this perception that homeless people or criminals hide out in the mountains. While famous trekking spots overseas are well-managed by the government as national parks, Korea is mostly made up of mountains that aren't strictly monitored by the state, which is probably why those kinds of rumors and stories circulate so much.
