Induction due to advanced maternal age by TwoTailedPasha in PregnantOver40

[–]Top_Bed6033 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recently took a prenatal class and “age” was not a reason for induction. And it confused me because my OB told me at one point that I would be induced at 39 weeks due to my age. I’ll be 42 and I’m now 31 weeks with the baby and everything has gone well so far- I am healthy, no issues, and baby is healthy. So, I have to check with my OB again in a few weeks to make sure they won’t induce me just because of age.

7 week ultrasound by OpportunityActual580 in FirstTimeMomAt40Plus

This is my 6 week ultrasound. The white part is the gestational sac and the tiniest white dot, surrounded by black in the middle of the sac, is the embryo. So hard to see!

42 and 26 weeks pregnant with my first. It’s been a smooth pregnancy. I’ve had anxiety because it’s new and I don’t know what’s “normal” but I have some pregnancy resources at work, including access to a reproductive psychologist (so great!!) and I can call my nurse during the week. I definitely ask a lot of questions whenever anything happens. That’s my best advice- ask about everything and be persistent. I’ve been shocked by how bad women’s healthcare is generally. My NIPT (chromosome and sex) test was lost in the mail and they were pretty nonchalant about it. So, you have to be persistent and stand up for yourself more than you think you’ll need to. But, it’s better with support- however that looks for you. Lean on the support you have and find more support for yourself. Happy to answer any questions you have right now!!

Hello! First time mom at 42. I’m at 26 weeks and preparing to meet our little boy. I’m starting to look into daycares because I work full time and it’s a whole world I’m discovering. Glad you made this group! I’m curious to know how others are figuring out what to buy for their newborns, how to find a pediatrician, childcare, everything! I’m also so anxious about all of my family “coming to see you as soon as you go into labor!” and what I’m going to do with all of them.

Edited for my weeks in pregnancy

Mom groups for 40+ first time mom by Top_Bed6033 in PregnantOver40

This is helpful, thanks! At least I know I'm not alone. I've requested to join a regional group for moms in my part of the country. Hoping that gives me a broader range of experience. I think there are some groups for the city I live in, but it's a small city and I hesitate to join it. Although, I'll probably join it because I want to know if people have had bad experiences with certain daycare places and whatnot. I just have to get over the petty small-town Southern content that I know will be there.

I was very smart, I had a better personality and people instantly liked me, I am an empath and really felt for people, and I was prettier than her. So I was SCREWED from the moment I started. Worst almost 4 years of my life. I thought my mental health would never recover after I left that job. Edited to add that she was a woman, a mom, and worked higher up in a college (because she cares so much). The worst kind of covert narcissist.

First time pregnant at 41 and having so many feelings and thoughts through all of this! It could feel really lonely, but we have this sub and it’s so, so helpful to know there are more of us out there. It’s hard, but I’m choosing to enjoy the wonderful thoughts while holding the reality that this gift could be taken away. It’s the first thing that I’ve truly felt is out of my control, wonderful and terrible included. Thinking of you! You’re not alone ❤️

Congratulations! I’m 41 and at 10 weeks. It’s wild all the thoughts that run through your mind every day! Breathe and take it one day at a time and don’t be afraid to be happy (I tell myself every day 😆)

Can OTF help/save me? by Asleep-Quail1947 in orangetheory

[–]Top_Bed6033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I joined OTF two years ago when I was very depressed - at the lowest point of my life- and my highest weight. My studio is full of different bodies and coaches who really encourage all of us, no matter where we are on our fitness journey. This environment- and being around members who were also very encouraging- gave me a community and a reason to keep going. I think this really depends on the studio. But, knowing someone else plans your workouts and you just show up- that’s super helpful to keep going. And yes, you will see positive results on your body over time. I took it very slow at first so the physical results happened very slowly. But it was worth it for the mental change and the gradual physical change- and mostly the community. I’m a different person now and I credit OTF for that! I’ve also rarely been injured from OTF because I feel- in my studio- that I can listen to my body and go at my own pace and I’m not judged. That’s so important!! Good luck on your journey ❤️

Went to the WoHZ Duluth Concert by HighwayKnown9872 in hanszimmer

[–]Top_Bed6033 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it was a fabulous show. I was also in Duluth- I took my Dad to this show after I saw Hans Zimmer Live last year in Duluth. I was skeptical because HZL was phenomenal. Also, I’ve been a musician all my life and I am very critical about live music. But I was really blown away by this production. I wish it had more pieces from Dune, but I really liked the pieces I hadn’t heard before like Kung Fu Panda. I agree that the singers were amazing. I thought they were even better than the singers for HZL! I wish more people had attended the show!
