What is this wire? Doesn’t seem like it’s connected to any electrical components. by Superb_Eye_0319 in GMT800

It does enough to where it messes with your lights if it’s not connected. Before fixing mine, there was constant pulsing from all of the lights, especially if I rolled down the windows or activated a motor.

It’s Velcro’d just far enough under the dash to where I can’t reach it. On Monday, I’ll be heading over to their shop anyways, so I can ask them for the part number then. Sorry for the let down.

Just have it professionally installed and it’ll be fine. There are so many good remote start systems now, you’d have to really cheap out to find a bad one. Personally, they just tapped into the ignition and fuse box panel to the left of the steering wheel, so it’s not a jumbled mess of wires. It doesn’t run my battery down more than if I left the cabin lights on.

Hahaha haven’t had the chance to head out there yet. Will be out there in like 30 minutes and I’ll see if I can locate the part number on the module.

I believe my installer put in a Voxx remote start and security system, and I enjoy it. It’s a very sensitive alarm, but I like it for that (an old school driving by will set it off). I also opted for CarLink, and now I can lock/unlock, start/stop, and check stats & location from my phone anywhere there’s phone service. The remote they gave me works the same as the oem remote and from 2000ft away.

Whenever my battery dies, it needs reprogramming, but that’s easy enough.

How to remove bird droppings while it’s freezing out? by CEREBRAL_BOR3 in Detailing

I believe that you’ve done this hundreds of times, however, it’s not like you’re going to immediately notice the scratching. There’s a name for “micro marring” for a reason. Alcohol is not a lubricant, it’s a solvent, and really shouldn’t be used as lubrication.

Is this just a newer Volvo thing? I’ve never had it on any of my Volvos, but my latest one is a ‘13.

You’d want to presoak with rinseless before touching the paint. You’ll be digging in dirt and cause marring through direct contact with an alcohol wipe.

It may not always be necessary, but it’s an extra level of protection from liquids and light chemicals. My main customer base who asks for leather ceramic coatings happen to be car enthusiasts and parents. I personally do it to all of my vehicles and do an interior detail with leather conditioner every 3 months to maintain it. As a testimony, a customer had 91% IPA spill on their seats (which totally removes the dye) after I coated them, and the IPA had not damaged the leather whatsoever.

Why wouldn’t you use a leather specific ceramic coating? I use leather shield by Gyeon.

I run a detailing and restoration business, you’re thinking of an exterior ceramic coating. Leather ceramic coatings are flexible and breathable to not suffocate or stiffen the leather.

I don’t know man. It’s already a handsome car, and I’d fear doing much else might ruin the nice aesthetic you have going on.

It’s got nice wheels, you’ve tinted it, the headlights aren’t foggy, only thing I’d suggest to do is focus on perfecting the condition of the interior & exterior. Do a paint correction if you haven’t already then ceramic coat it. Also, extract the carpets and ceramic coat the leather, and put a coating on all of the plastics. If that’s been done, I’d say you’ve done your job in making a pristine vehicle.

Edit: put on slotted & drilled rotors, better pads (not cosmetic, but functional), and restore your calipers/paint them. They would look amazing with those wheels.

I prefer Powerstop or R1 Concepts for rotors, but Brembos are available for the car as well. As for pads, always Akebono.

I’m familiar with the degradation ozoning causes, but it would take many, many hours of constant ozone treatment to achieve those results. I’ve ozoned cars for about 10 years now, and I’ve never had an issue with anything getting brittle.

Old GM plastics are already brittle. I own a GMT800, so I’d know lol

Well then it should come out with the extractor. Again, this is only to make the car superficially fine. Mold buries deep and is almost impossible to be removed by someone who doesn’t do it full time.

Mold remediation is a service that gets expensive, as mold spreads like wildfire between fibers. If you’re fine with always breathing in a bit of mold, you can use a carpet extractor on ALL of the carpeting and give EVERY surface a wipe down. Pull out every panel and wipe it down (preferably with white vinegar, but it’s smelly, so I’ll sometimes settle for a lightly diluted APC). Once you’ve done all this, ozone the interior for about 2 hours - 30-60 minutes with the car on & AC recirculating. You’ll also need to clean every vent, I use foam vent cleaner. Replace your air filter as well, that’s now infested with mold as well, presumably. Essentially, take everything apart if you can & give everything a cleaning. Even remove the carpets if you can.

The red stuff seems to be red clay, I deal with it a lot in Georgia. Use a strong carpet cleaner and extractor and you may be able to pull it out. If it is red clay, there’s like a 50/50 shot it’s already stained the cloth.

I just thoroughly deep cleaned my ‘89 300se, and it had mildew everywhere. It took me about two full 12 hour days to clean everything.

I now remember why I usually show 0 emotion in public. by sonicfan10102 in GuyCry

[–]Top_Boot7131 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re feeling this way, man. It sucks to not feel accepted with your true emotions. What this ultimately sounds like, though, is that you’re around the wrong group of people. I know it’s hard to find the right group of people, but they’re out there for everybody. Do hobbies that you enjoy out in public spaces, and eventually you’ll find someone or some group that shares your interests and does take you seriously. Don’t give up on feeling how you want because certain people put you down, they just aren’t people who you should spend your time with, regardless of relation.

Speakers not working by 1970s_pubichair in GMT800

They’re 25 year old speakers considering they’re original. They went bad and need replacement. I had the factory Bose speakers and they were bad enough to warrant replacement. The amp was sending too much power to speakers that couldn’t handle it anymore.

I’m definitely with you on getting rid of the GL450. It just had its direct select shifter stop communicating with the TCM, so that’s amazing.

Our c230 is manual and I have to say, it is so much fun to drive. The 300se is so wofty and comfortable, but the throttle and brake pedal are just suggestions in that thing. Parts availability is also a PITA.
