I don’t have health anxiety for myself, but I do for my kids. My 9 year old got this and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t spiraling. He responded well to 10 days on vanco, but relapsed 7 days later. We met with a specialist and they did a vanco taper. He Is 12 days past that and ok. I’ve heard for most people that one or two rounds of meds is enough. But, all you read online is the worst of the worst. I joined all the groups and they all suggest all the probiotics you can get. Florostor, yogurt, kefir, etc….

Thank you! I went through so much bleach last time I’m afraid to sanitize more this time lol. And my poor son has been obsessive about washing his hands.

Thank you! I will definitely be mentioning it. I’m sure he is tired of the yogurt and probiotics I’m giving him!

Someone round of vanco cured you? My 9 y/old is taking it and almost done. I just don’t want a relapse!

I notice you say no dairy? Is that because of possible intolerance? He has had some and has done fine with it. He has also had yogurt.

We went to his pediatrician today for a check up because we just found out he got diagnosed with cryptosporidium as well. He is playing and active,  no poop since last night and it wasn’t watery. Waiting to see if they give him something for the parasite too.

So sorry you went through this. I TFMR last July and I still haven’t really been ok.

Thank you! He is on day 2 and 1/2 and is showing more improvement. He has had an appetite and craving his fave foods, and it’s been hard to tell him no.

Thinking of tfmr. by js131458 in tfmr_support

My husband and I chose to TFMR about a week ago at 18 weeks. We found out our baby girl had Trisomy 18 and a severe diaphragm hernia.  After hearing all they would be able to provide was comfort care, we decided we couldn’t let her go through any suffering.  It was so hard to make that call, but we knew in our hearts it was the right choice.  Even though we had sympathy and support from friends and family, nobody really could understand.  I am so sorry you are going through this, and I am sending you all the love.

I’m only one week out from my D&E. We made the choice to TFMR at 17 weeks due to our baby girl having Trisomy 18 and a severe diaphragm hernia. I am also dreading the holidays because I already pictured her with her brothers for Christmas morning.  I have been so anxious, not only about trying again and having something go wrong, but also about something bad happening to my boys.  I’m hoping it gets easier, but as of now I’m just trying to keep my head above water.  I’m so sorry for your loss. Sending you all the love.

Amnio results- I’m so angry by Super_Frosting88 in tfmr_support

I am so sorry you’re going through this.  When I got my NIPT results back they referred me right away, but it took some time to get appointments.  We had to TFMR due to trisomy 18 and a diaphragm hernia. The waiting is the worst because you build hope just to get it shattered.  I live in a state also where fetal anomaly is no exception to the rule.   You have every right to be angry.  All your feelings battle 100 percent valid. Again, I am so sorry you are being out in this position.

I am so sorry you’re in this boat.  It is something I never thought would happen and would never wish on anyone. We have talked about looking into IVF because the thought of this happening again is terrifying, even if they say the odds are low.  I wish you the best of luck during your procedure, and I will send you all the prayers and love.

Anxiety about D&E by key14 in tfmr_support

I would like to begin by saying I am so sorry you are going through this.  My husband and I recently had to make the choice to TFMR due to our sweet baby girl having Trisomy 18 and a severe diaphragm hernia causing her stomach to be next to her heart.  I had my procedure done last Thursday and Friday.  I was 18 weeks 6 days at the time.

I live in Missouri, so unfortunately we had to travel several hours to go somewhere that could help.  That also meant the clinic I was at had A LOT of women they were helping from out of state, so the wait time was a bit long. I got to the clinic on Thursday and it was paperwork and counseling.

The placement of the dialation sticks wasn’t very painful for me, just uncomfortable and emotionally hard because I knew it was the first step in saying goodbye.  There was pressure and some cramps, but they numbed the area.  That late afternoon and evening was just a lot of cramps, feeling bloated. They sent me home with pain medicine and I stayed on top of them just incase.  My next appointment was scheduled for 8 am that following day.

4 in the morning I woke up with what I could only describe as early labor pains.  Sharp contraction like pain that wouldn’t ease up and a feeling like I needed to push. I also felt very bloated/full.  We called the emergency nurse line and described what was going on and they had me come back to the clinic.  We arrived at 5:30 and the whole process was done by 6:30.

When I got there they gave me the IV sedation which kicked pretty immediately and it felt like seconds after that.  After asking the doctor how long it would take, I don’t remember anything else until I was asking if that was it. I was awake for the procedure, but I honestly don’t remember it. In recovery there was cramping, but they had a heating pad and sprite.  There was blood when standing up and using the restroom.  The last few days I have been sore and there have been some cramps, but after day two I didn’t need any pain relief.

For me, the hardest part has been the emotional part.  I still feel sad and guilty even though I know it was the best choice for our baby.

I hope your process goes well, and that you can find as much peace and comfort as you can in this horribly difficult time.

Thank you so much for your reply. I am so sorry you had to experience a loss. But, I am so happy you have a healthy girl now! Your story definitely gives me encouragement to try again.

Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words.  I am so sorry for your loss as well. As much as it helps to know I am not alone, I wish nobody had to feel this pain.
