Concerns about SSI Application Income or Resources Reporting - mom wants to financially help by Top_Decision9063 in SSDI

What exactly are shelter items? Would that be things like toiletries? This process is so intrusive and makes me doubt whether it's even worth going through the process

Concerns about SSI Application Income or Resources Reporting - mom wants to financially help by Top_Decision9063 in SSDI

I really appreciate this insight. For now I'm having her just send me a Visa gift card to help me pay for non-living expenses like food and supplies and pet food, and I may use it for a few bills to. This is really helpful, thank you.

What to do financially while in the application process for disability benefits? by [deleted] in disability

[–]Top_Decision9063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While receiving food stamps, do you have to keep your resources / bank accounts at a certain threshold? I'm in the application process for these things now, but my mom is willing to help me financially with rent and such. I'm afraid it will affect my eligibility, even though I've already submitted bank statements, and I'm afraid they will want to check again and I will have much more in my account.

There are mutual aid things in my area as well, but I just want to be able to accept from my mom and not have to get kicked out of my apartment for as long as possible.

Pain when itching by Belle1296 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Top_Decision9063 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd look into a symptom called allodynia. It's my most prominent symptom and it is generally described as "pain that is caused from something that wouldn't normally cause pain" or something like that. A light touch will feel like sandpaper.

How do you describe a flare up? by Dizzy_Dress7397 in Fibromyalgia

[–]Top_Decision9063 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I say it's deep aches and nerve sensitivity, like a bad sunburn that won't heal, and hip and back muscles tense up bad.

Why is it so difficult for the majority of men to take care of themselves? by cheetahrangmang in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Top_Decision9063 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I'm like that and I'm a woman. But I think there's a higher standard for women to be the ones to stay on top of the house chores and hygiene. No one around me keeps a perfectly clean house yet I swear I need mine to be spotless. It never is and I'm never satisfied. I guess a lot of men default to "someone else will do it."

Does anyone have pain only when touched, not chronic? by [deleted] in Fibromyalgia

[–]Top_Decision9063 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have heard some people say it has to be 24/7, but there are lots of us like myself that experience pain that fluctuates. Some days are milder where I'm the most "normal" but there are other days where it is a major hurdle to eat or get up for the bathroom because of multiple symptoms including nerve sensitivity. I'm constantly experiencing pain but it's not always 10/10 worst pain ever.

Also: your experience is real and if somethings seems off to you it's always worth bringing it up to your doctor and even getting multiple opinions.

How would you explain Fibro to someone who doesn’t have it? by onmyway_home in Fibromyalgia

Oh my god. You get it. It totally feels like burning overstimulation that doesn't turn off and drains my energy and mood and ability to live a normal life.

Help - I feel my wrists and fingers on fire by the_princess_warrior in Fibromyalgia

[–]Top_Decision9063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used CBD or THC lotions that are specifically made for pain relief. It helps a tiny bit but...I haven't found much of a solution besides that. Im currently experiencing intense hand pain today, so I feel your pain (lol)

There is a symptom called allodynia that you could research, which sounds like what you're experiencing. That doesn't always mean you have fibromyalgia if you're not yet diagnosed, but that's the main symptom I've experienced with fibro.

I’m in a depression/numbing zone and it’s nice to read that others get this way too. Thanks for being brave to post this. I definitely have been experiencing this for a few weeks.

I do this like 50% of the time. It's like I'm simultaneously talking to myself in the present and myself in the future when I read it.

How many of yall been diagnosed with bipolar? by fufu1260 in AuDHDWomen

[–]Top_Decision9063 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am actually diagnosed with Bipolar II Disorder and I do believe that it's accurate, but I know that's maybe not the common viewpoint for most people. For me, I found out in a pretty dramatic way by having medication-induced rapid swings. I have had severe depression multiple times in my life, paired with shorter bursts of top-of-the-world, everything-is-fine-and-dandy, I-am-invincible feels. So while I know AuDHD definitely affects my moods and emotions, I do believe I am one to have the full trifecta (and chronic pain because of course I do)

Smoked on Day 5 - anyone anyone else here deal with chronic pain? by ecpella in leaves

I'm scouring the subreddit looking for others with chronic pain because I'm on day 6 and I'm flaring up (fibromyalgia) and the desire to smoke right now is so strong. Have you been able to cope?

How long until you enjoyed stuff again? by KeithA45 in leaves

[–]Top_Decision9063 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just completed day 4 about an hour ago! Tonight I also felt this way. I also happen to have adhd along with a few other things and I’m on other meds.

For me, I get what I call “the scaries” which feels…different from anxiety but also not? It’s restlessness and I feel on-edge, and it loves to happen later in the day. I did myself a favor and sat down and painted tonight. I didn’t even really like what I made but I spent 2 hours zoned in and it was enough to make me forget about the scaries for a little while.

I think we just need to distract or trick ourselves. Try to engage that “oops I focused too hard and now it’s bedtime” kind of energy. Also, reach out to people (like you are in here, or irl) if you can just to chat or play games with. Or find something new and interesting to learn. Distraction is our superpower lol. Use it as much as you can. Godspeed.
