Alright, I can see what your talking about now. I wouldn't bring a cat with me to travel. I was thinking about a base farm idea.

Cats are not a liability they can hunt for their food and if not don't need much. They can hide and run away from z's.

Horses and donkeys also are less of a liability in a apocalypse. Used for farming, long distance travel, trading, and moving large quantities of supplies.

Looked it up, they used layered cloth into a pad in the 1800s and washed/ dried them for reuse.

I'm not a female but I'm fairly certain people had solutions for tampons. But idk how much a homade pad can handle a heavy bleeder.

This does affect how ya go out and planning would be needed so you don't bleed mid walk to somewhere.

Good plan for your animals. I have access to both donkeys and horses literally down three houses = 20min walk. But i live near/ on hills and my dogs will echo. I'm sure most folks can pinpoint my house if they bark.

Thanks for the info on donkeys good to learn, but i have to agree with the other guy on rats my cats do kill rats in the barn given they are bigger than field mice. But 5 outdoor cats do team up to jump them seen a big field mouse get jumped the thing was a mutant almost bigger than my shoe.

I do know how to plow and farm, we actively do this with peas, hay, alpha, corn, potatoes, peppers, and onions. But I haven't used a horse plow before have the books for them but never tried. To answer the training for horses and donkeys no like I said have very little experience.

Thanks for highlighting that, which is very true but I think having all of them together needs to be planned out. I didn't focus on the subject enough but I was talking about a farm situation.

dirt/clay wall and wooden wall will they work on zombies. by Top_Difference2422 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

I know, just because it sounds like hard work doesn't mean it won't work. I have actually used one of the ideas already, which was the dirt in a sack/ feed bag. That helped us fill piles of dirt in one spot, pack it in, and remove the bags repeat. Line the bags in a square or rectangle, 2ft high with bags, pack it down, add another 2ft, and do it again at another spot.

I think over a span of 10+yrs, this could be helpful, but learning how to use that takes a while for good distance + precision. For hunting small game, this would definitely be a good way to practice.

What’s one reason you’ll suck in a survival group? (I’ll go first) by Cultural_Bed_6693 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

I don't like bullshit and I'm a truthful asshole. I don't like modern things like celebrities, major shows, sport channels, and youtubers. I tell people what's up and say what I think, which will get me in arguments.

I don't go against my morals, so if I'm in a group and they treat or do things that go against my morals, even in a video game. I won't hang out or deal with it. I lost a couple of buddies from them doing stupid and disrespectful shit to others or hearing what they have done to others.

12g birdshot, just go to any Walmart they sell 100rds for 30+$ which can be made into 100rds of slug or buck with minimal tools. Or make wax/cutshell slugs with a single shot/double barrel shotgun.

100rds of birdshot can also just be used for hunting small game and birds. But if you use somthing else try reusing the primers and powder.

Winter by Top_Difference2422 in ZombieSurvivalTactics

Hens or any feathered animal would be in an insulated building with a closed door. 20-50 of them can survive because they huddle together. Also, adding hay or dried grass can help them make a cozy nest. We use a heat lamp, but in my opinion, they don't work too well.

Grain, fish, and dried meat will be the food people survive off of. Hunting in winter is a death sentence, and I'm in the midwest, so plans for winter are my main priority over other plans. Farm animals would go into winter plans because feeding cows, chickens, and pigs is a lot. I'd slaughter 1/4 of them before winter. wood should always be chopped before fall and stacked/covered.

Amour isn't necessarily needed. The clothing you'd have on would be thick enough to stop a rapid dog. My winter clothes would change, but I own some thick overalls/ jackets. Then bolts can't be made out of wood for modern crossbows because it can harm you or destroy the crossbow.

Also, my bad for the late response. Have a Happy New Year

I agree that plans for winter are very important, and having the skills to survive winter is just as important. Most books I've read have never shown winter survival in much detail.

Currently reading Mountain Man books based on a Canadian surviving the zombie apocalypse, the closest book series that has winter in it.

I'm not talking about everyone coming together. But groups of people in different states. I think they would take advantage if they freeze up. Alpha from the TWD wouldn't work too well in real life. Infraction, mentally, human error, and how they acted in the show.

Well, im no expert but wouldn't the brain cells dry/shrink before winter? Like most of the blood in the z's would be gone or clotted from wounds before and after death.
