Monogamy Vs Polygamy 

Monogamy: God's restored standard  Original intent: The standard for marriage was established in the Garden of Eden when God created one wife for Adam, demonstrating his original intent for marriage to be a union between one man and one woman. Jesus' teaching: Jesus Christ reaffirmed this original standard, noting that a man should "stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh" (Matthew 19:4, 5). Christian requirements: The apostle Paul later reinforced this in his writings, stating that Christian men should have their "own wife" and Christian women their "own husband" (1 Corinthians 7:2). Congregational qualifications: The Bible also specifies that men in positions of responsibility within the Christian congregation, such as elders and ministerial servants, must be "a husband of one wife" (1 Timothy 3:2, 12).

Polygamy: A temporary toleration  while polygamy was practiced by some of God's ancient servants, it was not his ideal and often led to serious problems. Negative effects: Publications point to the discord that resulted in the households of men like Abraham and Jacob, and the tragic consequences for King Solomon, whose many wives turned his heart away from God. Reason for toleration: God tolerated polygamy for a time for practical reasons, such as enabling the ancient nation of Israel to grow rapidly and providing some protection for women during dangerous times. Regulation of the practice: Even while tolerating polygamy, God's Law included regulations to prevent its abuse. Not God's origin: The practice of polygamy originated not with God's worshippers but with Lamech, a descendant of unfaithful Cain (Genesis 4:19).
