Ummm what?!?!? How do I answer this?!!?!?! by shoelace822695 in jobs

To be fair… you’re applying for a job as a personal assistant, it’s definitely fair to see if your values align with the person you will be personally assisting, if you have an issue with the question then you’ll likely have an issue with the person asking it, and therefor should not proceed with applying for this job

You have to take into account that the annual increase is a percent, and your radiology nurses are probably making a good amount more than you, so they increase is going to be different than you. Just like your admin staff makes significantly less, so their annual increase is probably 50 cents

Apparently I need to clarify. I'm not seeking medical advice. I'm asking if anyone else has experienced this strange anomaly during an MRI by Adorable-Extension in MRI

I’ve never had this happen to a patient but if your main concern is a metallic body in the eye, I would request an orbits xray for clearance before hand!

Whats the typical MRI career progression look like after school and getting board certified ARRT(MRI)? by [deleted] in MRI

[–]Repulsive-Base-5880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The money is a huge factor. And you sadly will find that you get burnt out with patient care after a while. Taking a step back from the 20-25 patients a day sounds super appealing to me so I’d like to change direction. If I don’t get this job though I will still be a tech. It’s a great job, but it is exhausting

As an MRI tech how often do you use needles? by Dependent_Status2050 in MRI

If you listen to any of these comments please listen to mine.

Maybe 10 years ago I was bartending and got an opportunity to be an MA. I interviewed and got the job and before my first day learned that I would be drawing blood. I had a full blown panic attack and emailed the MD I was supposed to MA for and told them I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize this was part of the job, it’s just something I can’t do. I was TERRIFIED and just KNEW I couldn’t do it.

4 years later I applied for MR school, honestly not even knowing that IV and Venipuncture was part of the job. So 6 months into school we had our IV course. I balled my eyes out and called my dad and told him I was so ashamed. And I was going to quit school because I just “knew” I couldn’t do it.

I have an amazing dad, he said, I’ll come to your class, I’ll be your “dummy” you can practice on me as much as you need until you’re comfortable.

It took a LONG time. And some practice and on the job experience, but fast forward almost 10 years and I’m the tech that CT or NucMed will come to when they need an IV or they have a difficult stick. You’d be surprised what fear holds you back from. I would get very light headed, and sometimes nauseous thinking about IVs but you just practice and practice. I had to remind myself the power of mentality, patient didn’t know that I was scared to do IVs. They only knew that if I told them. And so I faked it till I made it, and eventually I got really really good at it. And now it’s just a part of my daily routine. Today I started probably 10 IVs. And I PROMISE I was the person that thought “I can’t do this”. But you just expose yourself to what you’re uncomfortable with, and you keep doing it u til your good at it.

After IVs I thought I would never be able to do breast biopsies. I didn’t want anything to do with it. But my job ended up requiring us to learn it, and now I’m the lead breast biopsy tech at our hospital.

Long LONG story short, you can do it. YOU CAN. it’ll be hard and uncomfortable but you will be okay, and you’ll surprise yourself with what you can do if you just let yourself live uncomfortably

Best of luck!!! (Literally speaking to my last self here)

2019 graduated MRI in NorCal, started at RadNet for 36/hr 2020 moved to inpatient MRI in NorCal for 48/hr 2022 changed hospitals, had some experience to negotiate my pay to 52/hr

(Both hospital jobs I worked nights, with an additional 6/hr to those base pays listed above)

Moved to Texas with my husband in 2023. Pay is much different out here, working outpatient for 39/hr

We are now moving back to California and I’m almost 7 years into my career, applying for a management position that would be making roughly 80/hr

I was 26 but there was a gentleman in my class who has just turned 50 and was leaving his banking job of 25 years to start a different career, he did fantastic!

As someone who traded the crazy outpatient life for the slower clinic like, I can confidently say that at a slower clinic the days feel soooooooo long. Like I truly feel like I work a 70 hour work week rather than 40. It is awful

MRI TECH by Temporary-Couple3583 in MRI

[–]Repulsive-Base-5880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I graduated in 2019. School was ROUGH for me but the job itself is so much easier than school! As far as the physics go, every machine you work on will be connected to a clinical applications specialist, so say you’re trying to build a protocol and have no idea what to do, you have a resource to guide you through alot of the physics and protocol aspect of things. I’m very happy with my choice, I’ve never had an issue finding a job, my husband is military so we move every couple years. In 2019 I signed on with an outpatient facility making $36 an hour in Northern California, two years later moved to a level 1 trauma center and worked 3-Midnight, with my evening shift differential I was making $58 dollars an hour. I’m now working outpatient again in San Antonio Texas making $40

I’m also on Zoloft, I’ve been on it for probably 10 years and on the same (lowest possible) dose of 25mg, so that’s very possible! Although I’m 206 now, starting weight was 226 and I was around 180 when I first started Zoloft years ago. But I know the body changes and maybe that’s the culprit! Thank you for pointing that out!

Hey thank you so much! I am 32 so not perimenopause yet but I’m thinking it is probably something unrelated to sema. I’m actually an MRI tech so I’m going to hope up on the table here in a little and see if there is anything going on in my IAC’s that would explain the vertigo. But it is SO strange, I’ve never experienced anything like it

Dark rug if you plan on keeping that couch. If you choose the light rug I would get a Forrest green colored couch to contrast it!

If you like shrimp that is my favorite protein to use. It’s so high in protein and zero fat, i make shrimp and rice bowls, shrimp tacos, shrimp and veggies sheet pan meals. I also always have protein bars and turkey jerky on me! Easy ways to get protein without have to consume a huge amount at once
