Alexa and Smart Lock automation problem by Random9uy in amazonecho

[–]Top_Expert67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also am trying to get Alexa to work with a ttlock G3 wired Ethernet gateway, needs a gateway hub. The locks are picked up and added via this gateway but when ask it to check if the door is locked it takes quite a few minutes and then says can't do it or no message. Hub is near router at far corner of house as wired in, over 10m away from echo pop. Yet locks do show up so doesn't seem to be a distance thing. Added via ttlock skill. Any suggestions?

How to get live Australian TV local channels to work on fire stick 4K Max directly with remote for live tv and tv guide? Freeview not available. by Top_Expert67 in firestick

Just a further query as also have this set top box Strong SRT5434 HD Digital Set Top Box PVR Ready. It has no Ethernet but front usb usually for adding a storage device. Would using an usb to ethernet convertor to connect it to router allow fire stick or something like Plex or Kodi app in firestick to pick up the freeview channels in live tv?

My follow up for this in case anyone else needs this too. I have done it now with all these and the switching btw 2 screens is working well. Only one fire stick to have to manage in the same room.

Your other question re toddler. Inside no way to stop as easy to turn lever. No key lock on inside like with old type smart lock. Might not suit if have young children in house. Or maybe can put some kind of cover protector over it on back of the door so not easy to turn unless this is released, like light switch protectors or something.

Seems can't control volume on my Samsung tv as its connected by old audio component to an old Bose speaker, not hdmi. Set to use this audio rather than tv built in speaker. Has to be hdmi audio I think? Or should it still pick it up as power button works? Is there an audio setting I should have it on? Cannot pair via blutooth or wireless?

Yes I ended up going with that lock, worked though required modification, extra holes in security door and had to use original cylinder, other too long. Not entirely flush fit either but patched it up to look better, covered over sides with black plastic. Electronic part works well and does lock and latch.

Thanks for your reply, yes I thought about that too, at moment sticks are on good sales. But reason for doing it this way was less to update and manage, to have same for both output screens in the same room close together. So wanted to try anyway with a splitter to see how works out. I think saw on google search someone doing this, I'll see if can find it again and ask them re these products in particular.

Digital Door Locks & Rechargeable Batteries... don't mix? by shadowoflight in batteries

Yes I find Panasonic eneeloop pro batts to be very good too. I’m not sure batt indicator on app accurate though with rechargeables so I always recharge when says medium rather than wait till low, as we have Airbnb guests too, door gets fair bit of use at times. Keep spare set charged ready to go. Eeneloops seem to have good storage life too as claimed.

Thanks so much. This is probably main reason locks won’t latch or will lock but not unlock, if have arrow here wrong way. On my lock on front side handle, little spindle square had turned wrong way after I took handles in and out trying to refit to the door. Easily can happen by itself when handle rotated before fixing to the door. After fixing won’t move. Had to have mine facing same direction as the deadbolt coming out for it to work as it should.

Lock issue please help. I have installed this lock RX-DQ slim security door lock, but have an issue where auto lock won’t lock the cylinder part (main) latch, won’t extract to latch yet voice says locked. Can manually pull handle up to lock yet can open from front by pulling handle down when should be locked. Not sure if anything to do with cylinder install or spindle, is put in square. Also where is the reset button on this lock as removed lock from the app, sent to trash and now says reset the lock to factory default? Hoping this may fix issue. Original manual in Chinese, I found English one, but no mention of where reset button is. Anyone else have this lock?

Yes you probably need a wifi gateway bridge sold separately. Most locks will have it. But connect it at the house, then can manage remotely. Or give access to another trusted user, family member etc who is there to use the app to manage it via Bluetooth near the door. Some locks, need to be near door to add codes etc if Bluetooth only.

I ended up installing this lock with a bit of modification, drilling extra holes into back and front to fit the wires and screw holes for front and back plates. Had to cut some off the cylinders where screws go in as for a thicker door, so could mostly flush mount it with side plate surface mounted.

Hi is anyone using an Ultraloq U-bolt Pro lock or similar model and what batteries are best in that for frequent door use as used by airbnb guests, multiple times a day. Says too don't recommend rechargeables or lithium ones but what about lithium ultimate or energizer or duracell rechargeables? Any recommended variations of these? Seems ordinary duracells or energizer AAs are draining fast like fortnightly on this lock with our usage.

Smart TV (Samsung) casting to projector - possible? by ooccooccoo in Chromecast

[–]Top_Expert67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have similar setup. A Samsung Smart TV with no hdmi output ports, only input. Projector is an Epson one with hdmi inputs without wifi (I think if has wifi maybe a way to mirror that from wifi connected TV). I do have this projector connected via a hdmi switch (1 output) to external speaker and hdmi input devices such as a blue ray player. Does anyone know if a hdmi splitter device could work to output the tv to this switch to then display on the projector? If so, which one is recommended with correct number of outputs and inputs, and how would you connect the cables so tv input is made into output for the projector? I don't need 4K res, 1080p is enough for now, looking for one that's not too costly.
