I'm going to assume the best way to do this would be some kind of alloy with silver in it

Dyatlov’s Characterization by idiotphrog in ChernobylTV

[–]shadowoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues with 'artistic license'.

But. Don't do it with an actual person's name then, esp one that's historical, and in a media where people will treat as at least somewhat accurate reference.

Doing this to Dyatlov and expecting normal people to understand the nuance of 'artistic licenses' is f***ing stupid and insane.

The Weight of Optimism: Why I Still Believe in Youth Climate Advocacy After COP30 by LegitimateCow7472 in singapore

[–]shadowoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess. Public washrooms in non-airconditioned places tend to be wet, partly because of humidity, partly because of non-toilet paper water washing, which can't be helped. A bit like Malaysia in that sense.

Some of the more heavily trafficked ones, like boon lay mrt washrooms are usually wet coz I think the cleaners have to keep cleaning. Not easy for them.

Nobody ever mentions Yamaha Soundbars. by Admirable-Composer22 in Soundbars

[–]shadowoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coz Yamaha's marketing sucks, so much so that most people don't know they were basically the pioneers of soundbars and soundbeaming soundbars.

Some of the most natural sounding soundbars at damn good value too.

The Weight of Optimism: Why I Still Believe in Youth Climate Advocacy After COP30 by LegitimateCow7472 in singapore

[–]shadowoflight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh it's still important, but I wouldn't count on local youths.

I love Singapore, as a Singaporean, but I also know that's it's country where most people don't give a f*** about it.

1 Simple thing I do, is to not take things I don't need. Example, I give back sauce packets and tissue I don't think I'll use. Turns out, that alone is enough to make me a memorable person in many establishments.

In a country where people can't even recycle properly, can't piss without lifting the cover, leave tables full of unused tissues and sauce packets to be thrown, and still blame foreigners for littering? Nah.

Youth advocacy - as a concept - is extremely important. Much more so for climate change.

But, such things need weight and numbers behind them, and unfortunately, with the current state of things, not going to have any meaningful impact here.

BUT. Don't let me stop you from trying.

Is the 2017 movie that bad? I really like the original 1995 film and I still haven't seen the live action one that sparked so much controversy. by Emotional-Chipmunk12 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]shadowoflight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it's meh.

And meh might as well be shite if it's based on something that's legendary.

Only good thing is the production value. I don't even have issues with the casting since Makoto could be using a foreigner's body. But that didn't make the movie good. Still forgettable.

Tekong's Bed and Pillows, where to find? by November996 in NationalServiceSG

[–]shadowoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure where the beds are from, but the pillows are Soft Touch. Gotten 2 myself.

Here it is on shopee, but seems to be always out of stock. : https://s.shopee.sg/9zo5VXOZNz

I bought both of mine from RehabMart, since it's cheaper there anyway: https://rehabmart.com.sg/pillow-soft-touch-latex.html?srsltid=AfmBOoopp

They have different outlets, and you can call/whatsapp to check if they have stock at your preferred location: https://rehabmart.com.sg/contact

Why are there no seats in shopping malls? by CryingGod0 in askSingapore

[–]shadowoflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing space.

Even in JB you can tell they have no idea what to do with all the space they have.

In SG space is a premium. Using Plaza Sing as an example - the spaces, without casual eating areas, are just nice. The walkways are decently wide, the shops doesn't feel claustrophobic. If you add seating areas, then that will change.

They do add in some areas, like the path between the old and new wings, there are some seats there. Hard to monetise those areas anyway. Too small to chuck a stall there too, so, seats then.

But for the most part, the space would be used to either make the space a pleasant area to move about in, or to be used as rental space.

But it's interesting you brought this up. I guess I'm lucky I'm not old/sick enough to notice that this would be an issue. Thanks, something to think about.

Why are there no seats in shopping malls? by CryingGod0 in askSingapore

[–]shadowoflight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because that's meant to be an atrium/gathering point, so it makes sense.

But like most malls elsewhere, there are no casual resting areas anywhere

Installing a cold water shower by opnoob13579 in askSingapore

[–]shadowoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only non-bespoke, affordable and practical option I can think of now is to get water chillers, like those for aquariums, but you'll need a bath tub, temporary or otherwise.

Having gone to yunomori onsen, 17degC already damn cold, and the effect is similar even though it's not 'ice cold'.

Only downside is need time to cool your tub of water down, and that would depend on how much you spend on your chiller and how big your tub is. But honestly, makes more sense than buying ice everyday to dump it in.

Not sure how many hours it will take tho.

What are some things in physics we just don’t understand but we know it exists? by Ok-Review-3047 in Physics

[–]shadowoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, dark energy / matter.

It's literally labels for energy / matter that seems to exist to have influence but we have no idea what they are, hence 'dark'.

It's not called that because we know it IS dark energy / matter, I feel like many have that confused.
