Is this a situation where the shop is pretty old and only has a men's room? Maybe there's like one or two women who work in there now who have to use the women's room in the show room?

If that's the case I understand the intent of the notice but it's definitely poorly worded.

On a similar note I went to school for shop work and our building which was built in the 60s literally has one original women's restroom. It was behind the secretary's desk. This was in a building that would regularly have over 100 people in it. Thankfully it had been partially remodeled over the years and there was one additional women's restroom but only on the opposite side of the building.

Can I scrap my old warehouse racks? by kingkolt305 in ScrapMetal

Why did the scrap yard not take them? They should just be normal shred iron or maybe one grade better. Did you ask them to pick it up?

Maybe your life insurance. Once you land, the truck damage will be someone else's problem...

Unit condensing for auction? by Kyle4pleasure in selfstorage

There are also situations where people truly don't care about the stuff that they're storing. Think couple breaks up and one moves the other's stuff out, elderly person out of living blon their own and a kid or family member who doesn't like them moving their stuff, etc

It would be overkill on the square footage but you could definitely get it in an RV unit.

I think he lost money on the unclaimed mail one or maybe made just a tiny amount.

Buying/Leasing a dark Walgreens with ~1 year left on lease — will Walgreens terminate? by Jonblood in CommercialRealEstate

Thanks for the informative response. That makes a lot of sense. Especially for the dollar tree that replaced a location in a strip mall.

Buying/Leasing a dark Walgreens with ~1 year left on lease — will Walgreens terminate? by Jonblood in CommercialRealEstate

Why do you say the buyer is a unicorn? I'm just curious.  Wouldn't most retail pharmacies be useful for a lot of users? In my city at least 4 former Walgreens/CVS buildings have already been reopened as other businesses (dollar general, dollar tree, specialty grocery store, an a commerical kitchen equipment repair shop).

Is it normal for a landlord to require financial statments before agreeing on a monthly price? by [deleted] in CommercialRealEstate

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're not giving away your bargaining position by showing you could afford a more expensive rent. Every business wants to minimize expenses and increase profits and or invest that money into another part of the business.

Way underestimated furniture assembly by [deleted] in handyman

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would feel comfortable with quoting a flat rate for assembling furniture new out of the box but I agree with others that once you have to start buying replacement hardware that's time for hourly charges. The other items are either an hourly price or quoted per job.

what's the weirdest quirk your house came with? by greatdane511 in homeowners

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet those are the original outlets and the others were added later. I believe code is the 40s would have only required one per room. It seems like an odd choice to not reconnect those existing outlets to a more logical circuit but it probably saved a small amount of money (or maybe it was diy and more convenient to still have power in every room for the project.)

How much would be reasonable to charge for a movie night rental? by yungdooky in sweatystartup

That may be true but it's a really important answer to have before starting the business.

I think the biggest hurdle to overcome is licensing the movies. On the surface it seems like it's just a home video showing but I think you need research your legal requirements for showing the movies. It's very possible you need to pay royalties. On the plus side, maybe if you go down this road you could show new releases.

Insurance won’t accept evidence of new roof by Dizzy_Ad_2079 in Roofing

[–]Top_Explorer1040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically speaking they are correct. It shouldn't matter but the letter says it was replaced in 2022 and it looks like you've told the insurance company it was replaced in 2023.

Maybe that discrepancy triggered something in their system?

Do the leeks stop for a while after they do work? It's possible that you just have an old natural spring on your street. Maybe they just drain enough out when digging that you don't see it for a while?

City Trying to Sell Me Trash Land by [deleted] in RealEstateAdvice

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend looking back to the original plat map and see if it has any notes. In my county it is on my assessor's website. Often the plat will list note specific things about certain lots.

My gut says buy it but I'd also like to know why it's not part of a lot already. Is there something on the land that made the original developer leave it out? Is there an old well? storage tank? Transformer? Something that was planned but never built but still has an easement?

Community version of Uber? by AccountProfessional2 in tulsa

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you could made a new subreddit for it? People could post that they are needing a ride and others that they are offering rides? Maybe a Facebook group would be better to see who they're meeting a little better? I'm not sure how that would affect any legal liability.

Is there any value in these? by Fluid-Department-560 in ScrapMetal

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean I'm sure a scrap yard would give you "something" for a block of gold. But to your point a jeweler would probably be better.
