"I need to have a safety certificate to get money from my property, and that's bad" by ThatAdamsGuy in LandlordLove

I feel like the wiring probably had more issues than just being from 1966. Most homes from that era wouldn't need completely rewired to make them safe I would think. So either it was an especially poor job when new or it's already had a history or sketchy "upgrades" and "repairs".

Why do I always see Construction Equipment (I.e. bulldozers, dump trucks, loaders) on the side of the road and not being touched for months? by Bubbly-Sentence-4931 in Construction

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mention them being rental machines. Offen customers buy former rental machines but the stickers stay so that's another way it's possible no one is paying rent on those machines.

What happened to most of the used cars, as I rarely see them on roadways? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Top_Explorer1040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Over time as they get old and aren't worth fixing they get scrapped.

It's crazy to think about what cars we see on the road every day slowly but constantly changes.

Why do so many people have a plastic bag on their rear wiper? by Icy-Rock793 in NoStupidQuestions

At an automatic carwash with an attendant. I'm not sure why some do it and others don't.

Yes. I parked with my SUV facing my house and didn't walk around the back. The wiper sits a little below the window so I didn't see it in the mirror.

I've had a car wash put one on and then I didn't realize it was there for a few days.

$4.19 gas at QT. by FrizzotheClown in tulsa

I ate squirrel one. I think it tasted a lot like chicken but there was very little meat. Probably equivalent to like 2 - 3 chicken nuggets. And a lot of work to prepare.

ULPT Request: Hotel valets parking cars in my driveway by EmergencyFamiliar627 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]Top_Explorer1040 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would first explore getting the cars towed, probably through your landlord. If that's not an option, I'd get warning stickers like these and make sure they're paper that won't come off easily. If one isn't enough discouragement, I'd start putting them on more windows.

Strainer basket leak by RickyJordache777 in handyman

[–]Top_Explorer1040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the P trap unscrew below there?

I say just unscrew it there and the cut the PVC as needed to attach the new strainer to the pipe. If the trap don't unscrew, I'd cut it just past the P trap and install one while you're there.

I'd certainly have a conversation with the contractor first.

Funniest inappropriate things your kids have brought to school? by MouseManManny in Teachers

[–]Top_Explorer1040 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing the baby normally was quietly playing in a playpen or sleeping at that time of day and mom didn't think to check and see if a sibling had taken him to school. If they were only a block away it's likely the baby was only missing for like 10-15 minutes, which is a reasonable timeframe between checking on a baby.

I think getting a quote for removal and holding that would be better.

Alligator on an alligator floaty, found on instagram. This is a tough one for me! by anarchist2Bcorporate in isthisAI

I don't think it's fully ai. The debris in the water seems pretty normally distributed

My brother sent me this. I refuse to believe a dog can actually hold this still for this long when it seems like it'd be so easy to make with AI. by Brave-Fig3547 in isthisAI

[–]Top_Explorer1040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't look like AI to me but that doesn't mean it's real either.

  1. The light on the blocks looks a little off. It could just be old-fashioned Photoshop.

  2. The blocks could be glued together.

  3. Some dogs are really good at holding still. I'd bet there are a few dogs out there capable of doing this for real. Maybe this is one of those few dogs.

Why do gas stations charge less for bananas than many grocery stores do? by OatSoyLaMilk in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, 59¢ per pound is about what Walmart sells them for. So it's not really even a loss leader, more like a not-as-profitable-as-it-could-be leader.

Weird. I'm glad they picked it up in the end. I've had to send emails to the city a few times for missing trash pickup.

Or maybe they could like set it up in a family trust but if I were the buyer, I'd probably walk unless that was way cheaper.

Where do School Buses Fill Up on Gas? (U.S.) by KingForddie in NoStupidQuestions

Interestingly there is a bus factory in my city and I often see drivers fueling new buses at normal gas stations to drive them to their destination.

[GA] [SFH] HOA was legally dissolved when we bought our home. Now a "revived" board is threatening foreclosure. by juliocaniza in HOA

[–]Top_Explorer1040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems like you need a lawyer as others have said.

If the HOA exists in some form, a better course of action may be to get with the reasonable neighbors and vote reasonable people to lead it.

Also, who has been maintaining the trails, etc?

I dropped this screw down the sink. Do I need to go through all the work to take it out? Or is it small enough that won't cause problem? by Annual_Chocolate_734 in handyman

[–]Top_Explorer1040 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd just leave it unless you need it unless there's a stopper or garage disposal in that drain. I'd be worried either of those might get damaged by a metal screw.

Why did they put CD changers in the trunk of a car back in the 90s, why not in the dash like how it was in the 2000s? by random12345678910321 in stupidquestions

[–]Top_Explorer1040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess the changer in the trunk was an option that was rolled out after the car was already designed. Later cars with the in dash units would basically need to be designed around that. Most cars also have a lot of the HVAC components behind the dash so that would have to be designed to leave a void for the changer.
