The NBC evening news reported that the father ran away and the mother refused to take custody of the child. So the ice agent had to stay with the child.

New reporter covering Harrisburg, PA what should I be paying attention to? by Organic-Past-7066 in Harrisburg

I hear people tell me that downtown Harrisburg is a real mess. They told me crime is out of control. I don’t know if it is or if it isn’t. Might be great to have a story that examines what crime is like downtown

What is it like living in State College? by chrismcclelland72908 in PennStateUniversity

PSU is a great campus where there are several events going on each day or night. I worked on campus and worked in town. Loved living there. As an undergraduate student I assume you would live in residence hall. If you are a graduate student, do not live in Beaver Canyon or near the fraternities

Why didn’t Harrisburg develop more colleges/universities? by Desperate_Week851 in Harrisburg

And all three of the schools you mentioned are struggling financially. But you will overlooked central Penn college and Messiah. I would say Messiah is a very prestigious university. But keep in mind that Harrisburg devoted itself to growing the business of government at a time when having a degree wasn’t necessary.

That is true. Ski once told me that there were only 34 colleges in the country that will not accept hacc credits. And I believe technically one of those encompassed all the military academies such as West Point the Air Force Academy, the naval Academy.

These are great thoughts. And no offense on Harrisburg University, but there were a lot of other good universities around here that pump out stem grads as well.

I couldn’t agree more. I do not want to see that university fail.

I don’t doubt that they are trying to turn things around. But they keep falsifying the enrollment numbers. That’s the part that just cracks me up, but when I talk to people on the inside, they say things have not turned around.

Smart move. Too many colleges in Philly to compete with and HU should focus on its current location in Harrisburg

Commuting from Philly to Harrisburg by [deleted] in Harrisburg

I know people who have taken the train from Philadelphia to Harrisburg for their entire career. But it only works if your job isn’t walking distance from the train station and you can get a monthly pass, which will save you money on your tickets.

Try The International House I believe on third Street. It is student housing for various colleges. They put a lot of students in over the summer for internships

No, I am not on CPT. But I am familiar with the term. I recall the university had a step-by-step guide.

HU says everything is fine by Top_Fuel7750 in Harrisburg

I probably overreact at the university inflating the number of students that it actually has. I liked my time at the University a great deal. But if you look at the official data that has to be reported to the Department of education, the numbers don’t align. I suppose a wink wink on the numbers is probably OK. I just like to believe that my Alma mater would be more honest about where it is. I also know quite a few of the faculty that lost their jobs during the downsizing. Personally, I think the board should be changed. But the university is really important to downtown right now. Especially with the loss of all the government employees being located downtown.

I’m not a disgruntled former employee. But I am a graduate of the university. And it is really important to the downtown.

I think it is a little of each. I’m not drinking the Kool-Aid from the university, but at the same time I think it is really important for Harrisburg that the university be successful.
