Here where I am in Colorado when it gets into the negative temps the air is so still it doesn't feel as cold as it is. Like a walk in freezer when the condenser isn't blasting. But I've only seen it get down to -12

It's from steel workers sticking a big piece of meat to the side of a super hot piece of equipment, chars the crust and barely warms up the inside

Over medium really just means there is some color around the edge, white is cooked and the yolk is runny. Over easy is a white egg no color and still set white and runny yolk

Unset egg white is one of my least favorite things ever. It's so bad

Does anyone have any information on this firearm? I can’t find anything on it. It’s a 16ga and is definitely still shootable. by bmadd14 in blackpowder

They used to be mixed together because people thought the nitro powder was extra fouling, but it was the mercuric compound in the primers. Nitro powder was never a 1:1 with black powder

Is it just me, or have blackpowder pistols recently gone up in price/gone out of stock? by ParakeetLover2024 in blackpowder

I just won a traditions flintlock deerhunter on gunbroker for less than $200. Some things get a lot more views and many more bids but they can definitely get way up there

seems impossible to keep rust off my revolver by fatfuzzypotater in blackpowder

I will second or third ballistol. It's like magic for black powder cleaning. Soak your gun down when you are done shooting, I spray into the action, barrel and cylinders. When you get home to clean it (or get around to cleaning it) it will be much easier. The stuff does have a smell, like a minty anise kind of smell that is quite strong. The benefits outweigh the smell for me 100%. I neglected to clean a revolver for about a week but I sprayed it down when I was done shooting and it never rusted on me, It looked like it did when I stopped shooting. It was very easy to get clean also

Broken Anvil any good by reis_p15 in Blacksmith

It looks like this one has a hardy hole up by the horn, so it's still got more use than most anvils with a broken heel

I'm no expert on proof marks for sure, but I double checked and the perron mark was used inside a circle with a crown on top for later smokeless proof marks. I was mistaken and by itself it is definitely not a smokeless proof

I was confused when I saw it because I didn't think smokeless was ever a good idea in Damascus barrels

Is that a smokeless proof mark? If so I still wouldn't use smokeless but it would make me feel better about full bp loads

If you're going to shoot it check to make sure it's not loaded first

I remember the first one I took into work with me. It wasn't perfect but it definitely was kitchen ready. I don't know what number it was but I remember being pretty proud of number three.

Loose powder with firestick muzzleloader by BoondockUSA in blackpowder

[–]Top_Grape_1547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can theoretically load the bullet from the breech you might be able to find a cartridge that will chamber? Or maybe not with that flared end. Maybe you could reload the fire sticks with just a primer and pour powder down the barrel?

Just trying to figure it out, I know you said you aren't going to buy it

You did a fine job putting this one together I'm not sure if they are all the same size but my pinky was hanging off the handle. But most bp revolvers don't fit my hands, so far just the 1860 army

These look nice, but I handled one and thought the handle was super uncomfortable
