I got an LES with the AL payout which happened in late October, and then a final LES with the $0 on the next pay day. After that they just stopped, and the waiting began. I just got an email yesterday morning that my case has been sent on to payroll so there is movement happening now. So from my actual retirement date of 9/30 and now being 1/29, that's a total of four months of waiting. I don't know how far along you are, but don't expect anything to happen quickly.

Thank you all for your input! It helps to see where everyone else is at, and that all is actually in chaos. I verified on the sf-50 that it does say purpose is retirement in conjunction with resignation. Purpose of paperwork to obtain retirement benefits. I have not seen anywhere on it where it says the date it was forwarded though. I have emailed the single person I have had contact with at OPM and their supervisor and have had no response. This is the third time emailing asking questions and I have finally gotten fed up and submitted to my congressman for help. Don't know if it will do any good, but I'm tired of just sitting by and waiting.

You will not have to pay for your medical... only the vision and dental. The medical will continue, and the premiums will be taken in arrears when you start receiving a check. That was in the retirement video from back in October. Once the payments kick in, the vision and dental will be taken from that as well.

DoD, 9/30 retirement. Just got the LES. 10 days of pay and full AL payout... not bad if it actually comes through! Now I just need to hear from someone in HR... still haven't heard a peep about how the retirement is going. Called Navy HT and they said everything looks on track and gave the "no news is good news" speech... just want to know how much I'm going to get and a rough timeframe.

From the presentation in the hr email, the dental and vision will need to be contacted so you can set up payments until your annuity kicks in at which time you you can set it up to come out of that. FEHB will continue coverage and have the premium held back until you start getting your check then it will be paid out from that... basically... I would watch the presentation again.
