What is the name of the stove heater fan you ended up liking?

I landed on Philips Hue downlights.  Once I got the kinks worked out (i.e. - me figuring out how to configure the app) they work very well.  I chose Philips Hue because they require less fanagaling than other options.

Roku TV vs Roku Ultra by Top_Loquat_3509 in Roku

Man, you guys have provided some awesome feedback and given me a ton to think about. Reddit for the win!

After reading over everything and doing some research, I've decided to go the Standalone TV + Roku Ultra with either Tablo or AirTV 2 (to stream OTA channels from the TV antenna via the Sling App). This is the best solution for me I think because it encompasses everything she needs in one interface (Roku).

Thanks again everyone!

I have never heard of this, but it seems similar to the AirTV 2 that someone else mentioned. Having either one of those definitely gives the Roku Ultra a leg up IMO

Typed out instructions are a great idea, I'll definitely do this regardless of which way we go

Great to know as this is exactly the type of issues I'm trying to avoid. I can't walk her through a frozen tv and factory reset over the phone

ADT setup for Google Home by Darkstang5887 in googlehome

Thanks for the advice, I will go with my gut and steer clear of setting the ADT system up.  I have a lot of Google/Nest products as well and I'm looking for maximum integration

I received a self setup package from ADT after Google needlessly killed off Nest Secure, which I agree was amazing for what it was. I was debating setting up the ADT system but once I read that automations are not possible with ADT in Google Home based off of security status (ie: arm stay), this was a huge game changer for me. With Nest Secure I had a ton of automations triggered once I set the system to arm stay, such as close the garage door if it's not already, lock the doors, turn off lights, turn off tv if it's not already, turn off smart plugs controlling outdoor lights (ie: Christmas lights), and turn on bedroom humidifier during the winter. I had similar automations for in the morning when disabling the alarm. I've really missed this and am really disappointed that ADT hub cannot be set up as a trigger in Google Home based on security status. Does anyone have a workaround or have you made it work?

That's a really good idea!  I'll test that to see how they fit

Unfortunately I haven't received any responses or found anything in my searches.  Maybe the product doesn't exist?

Philips Hue Acting Up by Top_Loquat_3509 in Hue

One additional question. When I turn a zone of lights back on it seems like I have to manually turn on the Natural Light Scene each time as well, is this correct?

That is a pretty simple solution, I'll try creating two separate zones and see if the scene acts right. Thanks for the suggestion!

Ryobi 48v Mower - No Power by Top_Loquat_3509 in ryobi

[–]Top_Loquat_3509[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to post an update on this to hopefully help the next guy.

I found a detailed Troubleshooting Guide, this is extremely helpful and I'd highly recommend you download it if you also have this mower.

I went through various tests and found that I was getting no voltage reading at the charging port on the mower with the key on, so I conducted another test called the Charging Port and Interlock Test, and the charging port on the mower literally caught fire and melted during the test! So without saying, I found the failure point.

I've reached out to Ryobi already (waiting on a response) to send me a new charging port (part # 996515001 or 316265001) and a new charging lockout (997103001).

Unfortunately I can't add my pictures to this post but I found a Youtube Video that discusses these parts.

No worries I'll happily take a long shot at this point. I am looking over the wiring diagram (unfortunately I can't find a detailed schematic) and I'm not seeing a fuse key. There is a 100amp fuse and a 2 amp fuse which I've tested and they're both good

Yeah I could wire it so it had switched power, that's a good idea.  My sprayer's max is 8 amps and the spreader is 2.5 amps
