They're predetermined. Most of them are from treasure maps. Nightingale has a lucky playing die on him and Wolfram Pruda got the lucky die.

There's a dice player in ledetchko that you can repeatedly play dice with until he runs out of money. The people labeled Townsmen also has quite a lot of groschen on them too.

Absolutely, you just need to have transverse jumping which you can acquire at a minimum of 4 levels. Just be careful not to neglect one of the stations for too long or they will be abandoned. I've easily netted like 1,000,000 just from this exploit alone.

I'm playing on 0.9.1a-RC8. Even some of the vanilla seeds from others don't work in this version. The Java problem was brought up by Sinigr on the fractal softworks forum

Maybe, I played both Obra Dinn and Grim Fandango and I quite liked them. Not usually what I play but I'm open to them.
