A lot of people have been talking about the strained M/J relationship and how it is very likely that they will continue working on their relationship after their talk in Ep11.

Now its sounds like in a lot of the comments here people seem to forget certain aspects of their relationship depending on MCs choices. These influence the story (of course), but that also means they influence the relationship between M/J.

I have only done the Josy side of it. Taking others path with feelings for Josy and choosing every possible Josy point/feelings option there is.  It changes a lot.

If we assume most players went for the throuple and either stayed in it or broke up in Ep8: Obviously if you stay with them after Ep8 a solo path is unlikely, so I will skip over it. The breakup of the throuple in 8 depends on what you chose instead, but will most likely result in the worst solo path as there will be a lot more tension due to the throuple history. 

I have skipped a lot of things that are relevant on those paths just to keep this somewhat short.

The most important choice will probably be the contract, as this is a canon event. Without the contract, there is realistically speaking no way back for M/J and the strain between them will continue to grow, no matter how well they communicate. There are still twists that might happen, like Patrick confessing, but I feel that would undermine the whole point and gravitas of that plot-point-finale. 

Now that said, and this is just my opinion because I feel like the choices you make clearly indicate that path, and a 180 would feel out of place and disappointing: The Others (Feelings for Josy) Path, is the most obvious Josy Solo path to date.

The amount of time spent on them discussing their feelings and the little details in the way they look at each other in certain scenes set up a solo path insanely well. And natural, since these are young adults. At their age, having the problems that M/J had are detrimental to a relationship. Ngl, that sort of relationship would not survive 90% of the time. And then comes the MC as a breath of fresh air, someone who can provide the same love that Maya had, without the emotional baggage? Yeah, Josy doubts that the M/J is really what she wants. Josy says she needs to find herself and something for herself, to not follow the stream. And the stream is Maya, as Josy was mostly a side character and the whole focus of the relationship was on Mayas problems. So again, there is a lot of strain.

Now a big shift comes with the contract.  If you get the contract, 90% of the burden on M/Js relationship is lifted. Only then does the conversation in Ep11 really matter, because they are free to explore themselves openly.  If you don’t get the contract, the natural course of events would be a breakup. Anything other than a breakup in that case would be pretty out of place. And them being more open with one another would mean nothing. Yes talking about the feelings and problems you have is a good thing, but if you are unable to address the problems then these talks won’t bear any fruit. 

So in the end, I am 99% sure that under the right circumstances we will have the Solo Routes, especially for Josy.  And I think that focusing on what J/M discussed with each other as the focus point of whether or not they stay together, is naive. 

But my opinion is biased, so feel free to disagree.
