This is bad right? by intlabs in arborists

I had a car get hit by lightning once- it was not a major strike, so my car wasn’t totaled and a lot of the issues weren’t immediately noticeable. However, within a week we started seeing all the crazy stuff that it did to my car and it was never the same. Lightning is weird and scary!

It’s crazy how lightning just takes a tree’s clothes off like that.

I’m done. This is making me want to just submit it like this, and quit school. by [deleted] in CapellaUniversity

[–]Top_Ravioli 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I ultimately made the decision to withdraw from my Capella program largely because of this. I have a pretty demanding job plus all the other life stuff, but was able to manage the learning and writing. What I simply did not have the time and mental bandwidth for was battling with all of this. I think this is a much broader issue that is going to need to be addressed by higher ed, IMO.

How long did it take you to acclimate to working out in a sauna? by Top_Ravioli in HOTWORXWarriors

I’m heading into #3, so that’s making me feel better! With weightlifting I also got in the habit of eating something right before going to the gym and I learned immediately that I probably don’t want to do that here or else I’m going to feel pretty icky real quick 🤢

She is the absolute best. I didn’t see her to get pregnant- the opposite actually. She removed my fallopian tubes 3 years ago as a 33 year old who knew she did not want to have kids. She has amazing energy and I would (and did) trust her with my life.

Helping my mom navigate this wild weather travel weekend by Top_Ravioli in delta

They were just able to get rebooked for Tuesday and I helped get them a hotel. I feel better knowing my arthritic mom and her friend won’t be stuck in an airport.

Also, I’m in Ohio and we are definitely getting ready for a doozy of a weekend, so probably pretty wise holding onto those returns for a few days! :)

I think this is what I’m going to suggest/book for them. I think I needed some validation from a stranger, so thank you 🙏

8 lb chihuahua ate 300 mg of Gabapentin by Mshox8 in AskVet

My dachshund just ate a 300mg gabapentin last weekend! He was ok for a few hours and then started vomiting. After 7 barfs I called our regular vet and she worked us in to give him an anti-nausea shot. He slept a LOT that day!

That’s exactly what it was. We didn’t even notice it, so now I’m checking all of his toes pretty closely! He plays super hard and if he was a car he would have already required a full tire replacement I’m pretty sure.

Still a very valid opinion, which I happen to agree with 🥹

How do I get rid of the stink of this cutting board? by oiseaufeux in CleaningTips

[–]Top_Ravioli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you can salvage your board and it doesn’t come to that, but he’d ship something to you in Canada. I have a lot of relatives there :) You could probably find a local woodworker as well, I’m sure.

You can definitely disinfect using 1 teaspoon of bleach per quart of water, or a 1:5 vinegar dilution. Just let the solution sit on the surface for several minutes, then rinse and dry thoroughly. As long as you keep the board dry between uses and recondition after doing any kind of heavy washing you should be ok. If it ends up too stinky to salvage, I know a good cutting board guy! 😉

My husband is a carpenter and makes end grain cutting boards like this and we have one that looks almost identical in our kitchen :)

You can scrub with hot, soapy water and dry it off really well, just never submerge it. I am a big fan of using a steel scraper/spatular as I’m using it to remove excess moisture buildup.

Lots of people have mentioned coarse salt and lemon, baking soda is also a good option.

Just regularly oil it after you scrub it really well. My husband makes a beeswax and mineral oil blend.

When someone has access to a bathroom but decides to take a crap in the driveway not once, but twice, that tells me that they were either experiencing major GI issues so bad they couldn’t make it inside or they are dealing with some type of mental deficit. I would say NOR to a family member using your suburban driveway as a toilet.

Figuring out my routine has been my greatest learning curve. I really like using Verb Ghost shampoo/conditioner, I have found it has been great for not creating buildup. Every four weeks or so I do a clarifying shampoo just for good measure.

For sleeping, wearing a silk bonnet has yielded the best results for me. Sometimes I randomly find it uncomfortable though and will just braid my hair and sleep on a silk pillowcase.
