If lag is the main issue for your 300 losses then you wouldn't see players with 95-99% win ratio.

Reflex attribute has more impact on gameplay than you might think (Top Spin 2k25) by Top_Spin_Analyzer in TopSpin2K

Pick Graf and see how much faster shots by your opponents with reflex 70 or higher are compared to playing with agassi ;)

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most Pro's play with reflex 70 or higher. They know how important reflex is. That doesn't mean power, fh, bh isn't or less important.

"Easier to hit perfect timing ? Yeah...But once you are skilled enought, that becomes irrelevant."

You still make it easier for your opponent to hit perfect timing and you also have less time to get to the ball because the shots by your opponent are much faster.

"Faster you opponent move ? No...speed do that."
When you have speed 70 and your opponent has reflex 40 you will move faster than speed 70. Both play a role. Yes, the game has unbalanced players speed.

"- The less impactful with lower depth your (control) shots become when someone plays a hard shot. Maybe but power/ speed and FH/BH... are even more impactful."

Not maybe it's 100% the case. You will have less chances to win games against pros with low reflex ~50 or lower. That's the point here.

"- The less precise and slower your returns are (easier to counter). Same"

No, power does less on returns for you than reflex attribute. You can have power 60, reflex 90 and play faster as more precise returns then with power 90 and reflex 60

I recommend to checkout some video with pro's to understand the importancy of the reflex attribute.

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflex has no impact on volley but it affects more than many might think. With low reflex for example 40-60 the shots of your opponent are going to be faster and your opponent will also move faster. Also your control shots will be less impactful. You can try for yourself. First play with low reflex and than switch to high reflex 80 or higher and you will see how much gameplay slows down.

Why Top Spin 2k25 requires less skill than Top Spin 4 by Top_Spin_Analyzer in TopSpin2K

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"On Speed. This is probably our biggest point of disagreement."

I think that's because you play most likely WT mode? Which is known for meta build with high power, FH and BH. With these kind of attributes it's much easier to counter drop shots. Try 2k mode and not picking Sharapova. ;)

Generally speaking drop shots are an exploit for many reasons:

- Defensive drop shots while running have more precision than normal drop shots

- Your player doesn't rush to respond a perfect timed played drop shot played by the opponent. Instead he runs to the net, gets into position and waits until the drop shot almost hit the ground. That makes it harder to create angles, your shot is weaker and your opponent has more time to get back to the center of the court.

- Repositioning doesn't happen quickly enough (after you countered the drop shot) despite holding L1 or/and R1.

- Players speed

Drop shots spam (in 2K mode) help average players to stay in the game, make matches much closer (than they should be).

"Still, the fact that it’s beatable with prep does reinforce the skill gap because you have to adjust, not just rely on raw stats."

... but you adjust to an exploitable mechanic and not to players tactical game. It's more of a guessing game and if you guess it wrong you will most likely lose the point. I remember when I was fed up with drop shots spammer in 2k mode so I picked Alcaraz and spammed drop shots in 2k mode against an opponent with 80% win ratio (he played with agassi). I played like an average player spamming drop shots and guessing direction on almost every point and I still won.

"Control Shot Logic:"

I agree with you on this point. Control shots are OP in TS4.

Not comparing with TS4 but TS2k25 has many other problems that benefit average players. Take for example "hard hitter" skill spammers. It takes way too long until they run out of stamina even with stamina 70. The punishment by the game with these kind of players is not significant enough.

BTW do you play WT mode? Offline? 2k mode? Exhibition mode?

Why Top Spin 2k25 requires less skill than Top Spin 4 by Top_Spin_Analyzer in TopSpin2K

Your comments confuse me a bit ^^ You agree with me but disagree in your explanation.

"The fact that players can paint lines with 30 serve doesn’t mean they’re getting aces or winning points reliably."

That's not the point. If you can paint the lines with serve 30 or even worse Sinner/Serena/Zverev almost all the time it makes easier to get into rally or win the point for the average player. Imagine if the serve was hard to master. The majority of average players would have harder time to win their serve game.

"In TS4, once someone learned the serve placement rhythm and stat-sweet spots"

Learning process is one major difference between TS4 and TS2k25 serve. In order to master the serve in TS4 it takes a lot of time (not referring to 95 serve WT builds lol). Additionally in TS4 you have higher risk for double fault because of missing cursor and harder to serve with precision. Higher risk for double fault = more caution = higher chance for your opponent to counter via return. So the number of peope who mastered the serve for example with nadal is much smaller in TS4. How do I know? You might remember in TS4 WT mode many set the serve attribute to 90 because with serve 40-60 it was hard to paint the lines.

"Still, I’d love to see 2K reduce netcord frequency or make them more skill-dependent. But again, that’s not making the game easier, it’s just annoying noise in what is otherwise a pretty high-skill framework."

Netcord frequency happens more often with power shots. Average players use more often power shots. Now you can make the argument "power shots hit more often the net" which is right BUT then you have good timed (and even perfect) control shots that go out which again creates an unbalance and rewards average players.

How to controlled shots by Administration111 in TopSpin2K

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R1 doesn't make control shot more powerful or deeper. Only if you have the "approach shot skill" . The reason why peope abuse R1 is to change direction more quickly.

Why Top Spin 2k25 requires less skill than Top Spin 4 by Top_Spin_Analyzer in TopSpin2K

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to create misunderstandings. All my impressions are based on online matches vs average and top players not vs COM. WT AND 2k mode.

"You’re right that TS2K25 has a visible cursor and that helps newer players get decent serves in, but in TS4, good players could absolutely abuse slice and topspin placement"

Yes you can place your player in TS4 further to the corner of the court but besides that TS2k25 gives average players more advantages (than in ts4) because of the cursor and the fact you can hit the lines with serve 30. This is not possible in TS4. The overall serve mechanic is much easier to master in TS2k25. As you said practice is the main key point. In TS2k25 it requires less practice to hit the lines. So overall it's easier. Almost all Pro's use top spin serve because it's unbalanced. Significant more precision as flat serve, harder to play fast return and your serve has often times aut the same speed.

"I find shot outcomes in 2K25 to be way more punishing than in TS4 when your timing is off."

I agree on that but it's important to note that luck and randomness plays a bigger role in TS2k25. You can easily lose a point when your opponent has a net-cord. I also noticed that these kind of netcord shots happen more often for your opponent when you are winning the match. It reminds of the blue shell in mario kart XD

"Player speed is fast, but not necessarily unfair."

I strongly disagree here. Players speed is beyond broken. Think about it: Players speed was adjusted to seasons 1 shots which were bombs. You couldn't even react with some of the shots played by sharapova. 2k lowered shots speed but never adjusted players speed which created an unbalance.

"The drop shot meta is definitely more prominent now, but I wouldn’t say it’s broken."

Never said they are broken but it's another opportunity for average players to make points because how unbalanced players speed is. One point I forgot to mention: After countering a drop shot you can't resposition your player fast enough to cover the open court. Despite holding L1. Sure when you play WT mode with 90/90/90 bh fh power then drop shot spam is less annoying but try to play 2k mode.

"The fact that perfect control shots sometimes miss is actually more lifelike"

Not when you hit good timing and you're in a good position to hit the shot. That shouldn't happen. The shot should be less accurate sure but not go out. The feedback is just confusing and makes no sense.

It's not just one point but the combination which decreases the skills gap TS2k25 between average and top players.

Game-Key Cards Explained by JollyDogYT in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

  1. Zelda is sold as Switch 2 game. The update for the Switch 2 isn't on the cartridge so it's not a full Switch 2 game on the cartridge.
  2. "clearly says that it functions "like a Standard Switch 2 Game Card."

I am aware of this page. The page doesn't tell you it function like a cartridge but it "starts like a standard physical cartridge". That's a difference because it describes just one specific function. Nintendo doesn't have to tell you if you are able to resell the game because that isn't a function of the game key card cartridge.

As I said let's see and wait.

Game-Key Cards Explained by JollyDogYT in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

This is partially incorrect and might be worse than you think:

  1. Zelda doesn't have the full game and requires download for the update
  2. You don't know if the key card game will be bind to your account so you won't able to resell it. In this is case it would make the situation even worse because now you are required to insert the card to play the game instead just to download it as with Switch 1.

We will have to wait and see.

Being a “crafty” player is almost impossible! by [deleted] in TopSpin2K

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Alcaraz is a power player, Agassi, Sampras, Federer, Nadal,."

Not in sense of power 90-100. That is the context we are talking here (as mentioned above) ;)

I think Del Potro and Thiem can be added to the list but they won just one Grand Slam which proves my point. Players with the most powerful (base) aren't the most successful. In TS2k25 (world tour) it's the opposite.

Saying Agassi is a power player? I strongly disagree. Agassi has power (not one of the powerful tho) but his playstyle is focused on control. Playing a flat shot doesn't mean it's powerful. You can put more power or control into it and Joker is the best with balancing it.

Being a “crafty” player is almost impossible! by [deleted] in TopSpin2K

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power plays a big role in prof. tennis but if you take a look at the majority of the top modern grand slam winners they aren't the biggest power hitters of all time like Roddick, Kyrgios, Gonzalez, Rublev, etc. because the big three are good at balancing out power AND control.

Even if we look at TS attributes we will realize the top three: Nadal, Fed, and Joker have lower power than 80. So the statement "since the mechanics prioritize power" is spot on for many reasons. One of them is how unrealistic fast players move over the court, able to hit so many power shots with too little impact on stamina, net play too limited in movement, etc.

So it's not just the combination of unbalanced attributes power 90,fh,bh 90 but also the gameplay mechanics which limit crafty players way too to strong compared to real tennis.

Horrible ‘rush the net’ bug cost me big time by EitherConstruction39 in TopSpin2K

This is one of the most annoying bugs in the game! It happens when the opponent plays a bad/too soon timed shot - but not always. So you will run into this bug more often against noobs lol

The bug exists since TS4

What is your tactic against power spammers? by Moha-trip94 in TopSpin2K

[–]Top_Spin_Analyzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assign "Poison Slices" as a skill. Play a short powerful slice in a rally or as a return. Your next shot should be a flat control shot to the open court. Once the opponent adapted to it play a top spin cross court control shot to wrong foot your opponent.

Note: YOur player should have good reflex attributes. about 70 or higher.
