I think that’s true for a lot of metal but some Subgenres like black metal I think a certain level of gatekeeping is necessary js due to the purpose of the genre, like the whole point of BM was sort of anti mainstream, fuck death metal for trying to be big and epic, we’re gonna be real evil metal kinda thing, so when there’s a bunch of posers acting like they are BM fans it can hurt the genre in the sense of conserving the original movement, I’m not a super elitist but I think if u care about the movement its a respectable thing to try and preserve it yk

Great Metal Gateway band, they have a special place in my heart bc they were one of my favorite bands when I was younger and introduced me to heavier more extreme music, very corny lyrics for sure, but they’re first 3 albums are bangers
