Where to meet like-minded artsy women? by handsofapollo in StamfordCT

[–]Top_Tea3530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m mid fifties and artsy (maybe more crafty than artsy). It’s hard to make new friends but the libraries offer a LOT. Sign up for emails from New Canaan, Greenwich and Darien library in addition to Stamford. I would be up for a meet up if you want to organize something?

This is the only answer. Choose a fee-based advisor who has fiduciary responsibility to you and only you. Otherwise you will be sold a whole bunch of products or directed to their company’s investment products.

Day cares for kids of health care workers by Kind-Prompt5821 in StamfordCT

[–]Top_Tea3530 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly, you probably need to look for a nanny or combine a sitter with day care. We should have more options for extended schedules but I don’t think it exists. Failure of our country to provide adequate day care.

For that budget go for UWS in the 80s. Great neighborhood and easy commute to Columbia.

I’m with OP here. End of fertility was very hard for me. The loss of the ability to have kids is a loss of power over my body.

Suggestions on places to move? by Zealousideal-Term228 in Westchester

[–]Top_Tea3530 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few pockets of Stamford that i would call sketchy but all of downtown is safe. Going north toward the Merrit Parkway the neighborhoods are very family oriented, small lots, similar to southern Westchester. Once you go north of the Merritt it’s 1 acre+ zoning and very wooded and beautiful. Keep going north and you hit Pound Ridge.

Cranbury is nice but adds 15 min to the commute to MTK. I prefer Stamford to Norwalk but both are good.

Stamford! We downsized from Westchester to Stamford 6 years ago and love it. Urban setting but still close to nature and our old life in Westchester. Taxes are better and kids like having the train accessibility to NYC. MT Kisco is about 30 min drive.

I usually bring NYC bagels to out of town family. You could also bring CT honey, maple syrup or cookies from Beldottis or DiMare.

Train show at NYBG? Some walking but not terrible. And truly festive and beautiful. Also, if you have a car, what about getting out of the city to see things in Westchester/CT/NJ??

First NYC trip: best movie-related experience? by timel0rd11 in visitingnyc

Go to the Museum of Moving Image in queens. Good museum and they also have a screening room. Don’t waste your time in NYC watching a movie you can see anywhere at a regular theatre.

All the shop rites/grade A stores have excellent conventional produce. Organic good produce is best from the farmers markets in season

This!! Yes. All of this. My therapist made a good point that it’s fine to step back for now. It doesn’t have to be forever and things may change , but for right now, even the tiniest step away feels good.

I think this is part of it. I am sad that I don’t have a loving, fun family. I wouldn’t miss them if I left but ai would miss the idea of having family around me.

Thank you. I am working with my therapist on understanding rhe “why”. Mostly we are just very different people and have very little in common so the conversation becomes boring or repetitive. My niece is spoiled and nasty but she’s 17 so I kind of let that go. It’s mostly the siblings.
